From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms. Mila and Lasse have created a warm and inviting environment that feels more like home than just a place to stay. Their hospitality is unmatched, and the kindness they extend to their guests is truly heartwarming. The farm itself is a time capsule, preserving a way of life that is deeply connected to nature and tradition. It is a place where one can slow down, breathe, and appreciate the beauty of simple living.
The work we did was both recharging and pleasantly challenging. Every task, from planting nut to tending the land, felt meaningful, and the results of our hard work were truly rewarding. The best payment we could have ever received was not material—it was the joy and happiness reflected in Mila and Lasse’s faces. Their gratitude was genuine and profound, showing us the true essence of volunteering. Every movement we made, every small effort we contributed, was met with appreciation that came straight from the heart.
There were moments when the rain poured, our gloves were soaked, and we were covered in mud. At times, exhaustion set in, but none of that mattered when we saw the spark in their eyes. Their smiles, their heartfelt thanks, and the sheer happiness they radiated made every challenge worthwhile. In those moments, we shared in their pride, in their dream, and in the deep fulfillment that comes from meaningful work. It was a reminder that our actions do matter—that kindness, effort, and dedication can make a real difference.
Evenings were spent around the table, sharing delicious homemade meals, laughter, and stories. The sense of community they foster makes you feel like part of the family. They are not just incredible hosts but also incredible people, radiating warmth, patience, and wisdom. Their love for the land and each other is evident in every corner of their farm.
Leaving Mila and Lasse’s (and Jonas's) farm was difficult because it felt like leaving home. The friendships we built and the lessons we learned will stay with us for a lifetime. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting their farm to anyone looking for an authentic and enriching experience. It is a place where you arrive as a guest but depart with a heart full of gratitude and a sense of belonging.

Not only did they work hard and contribute greatly, but they also brought such a warm and joyful energy to our home. They were incredibly kind and caring towards Milas' little brother (9 years old), who absolutely loved spending time with them. It was heartwarming to see how they engaged with him.
Evenings were always a highlight, as we shared dinners and long, meaningful conversations. They are both such wonderful, open-minded, and kind-hearted people, and we feel truly grateful for all the help they gave us.

It's very much out in the countryside, but it's possible to get to Nyborg or Svendborg by bus or riding along with the hosts to work, and from there you can take trains or ferries to anywhere you want to go. … read more of us Workawayers had our own comfortable rooms and were provided with rubber boots, extra thick socks, gloves, etc. for working in the field. Also snacks ;)
Nadja the cat is suspicious of new people, but the humans in the house were very welcoming. They taught us a card game (Lasse usually won) and Mila and I had fun trying to make some Turkish dishes.
The work is mostly outside and physical, and the Danish winter can be hard. Days are short, so be prepared to spend most of the daylight out in the fields in the cold. But the nice thing about the short days is that you don't have to get up early to see the beautiful sunrise over the sea.
Thank you for everything! I hope I can come back and see the trees when they're all grown up and producing nuts!

During my stay, I was able to do various tasks around the house and in the fields, explored the surrounding area on foot and by bike (which I recommend if you like peace and quiet and seaside scenery) and Mila kindly offered to drop us off in Odense for a chance to visit. We also shared moments over dinner (Mila's food is amazing ;)) , cooking or playing cards (Lasse taught us a great game).
I can't recommend Mila and Lasse's farm highly enough if you'd like to discover a sustainable agriculture project and meet the wonderful people dedicated to making it a reality :)

I had a very good experience staying at Mila's and Lasse's nutplantation for almost three weeks and I already miss the time I spent there! This place has such a calming atmosphere, not only because of the absence of any cars and big city's, but also because of the kindness of Mila and Lasse. … read more face, while Lasse is more the calmer one with his own opinion and a farsighted view on things. Yeah, the work we did at the nutplantation was quite exhausting, but the fact, that we could manage our work independently or that we could communicate if anything wasn't the way we would like it to be kind of balanced this out. And four to five hours a day isn't actually that dramatic, so there was plenty of time to rest and enjoy some time at the beach (with the most breathtaking sunrises by the way) or in the nearby cities (it's quite easy to get to Copenhagen on your day off). Also the time we spent with Mila and Lasse themselves was just nice, especially the shared dinners with a lot of laughter, or the card games we played in the evening at times. Thanks for this wonderful time:)

I was there for almost two weeks and worked with Janderson (the second worker) in the field behind the house – picking up stones and cutting bushes. We were able to organise our time freely and still had plenty of free time. In the evenings we all had dinner together and talked about the day and our life away from Workaway. It was very familiar. :) Mila is a very good cook and Lasse makes excellent cinnamon buns.

Gustavo had the opportunity to drive the tractor and it was a very rewarding experience, for him to change the boring environment of the office to work in the field was something that filled him with joy.
For me (Natalia) it was my first time doing farm work and it was a challenge that allowed me to learn a lot about my abilities, my favorite activities were removing bark from trees (very relaxing in my opinion) and furniture restoration (my new hobby).

Our work consisted of removing the skin from cut trees, removing stones from the field, sanding and repainting the kitchen, cleaning the house, putting trees back in pots, replanting trees, cutting out patches of grass to make a green roof, removing weeds and planning their business trip in France. (5 hours a day for 5 days)
For the food we could prepare some specialities from our country, and we ate also Danish specialities.
We had a beautiful room with a view on the sea, and we even went to swim!
It was a real pleasure to come, and we'd love to come back later when the trees have grown.
