Hi
We are Lara and Maurice, we are working to turn our land into place for personal growth, regeneration and peace. Implementing principles from Permaculture where Humans and Nature can live in reciprocity, benefiting from each other, while innovating for a brighter future.
In the first years of this journey we have learned a lot from our successes and failures, have grown our family (by 2 dogs and 2 cats), and also managed to renovate a traditional house, all while still working on an irregular schedule.
Now to keep our dream evolving further, enriching our souls, the land and making new connections we need helping hands.
Formerly in the hospitality area, now Maurice is a professional cleaner with trainings in permaculture, cooking, nutrition and management. Lara is a Yoga 500h+ teacher and Pilates trainer (amongst other fitness related trainings), life-coach, reiki master and spiritual guide, womb keeper, cacao ceremony facilitator, always staying curious about learning new skills.
We are looking forward to hearing from you and your skills which could possibly help us make our dream come true.

Exchange is important to us, ideally every single one of us can learn from a stay.
By having the opportunity of sharing time with a integrating foreigner and a native from the land, we bring a unique mixture of perspectives both in a cultural, communal and spiritual sense. Apart from that you should use your free time to reflect, read books, study and obviously explore the surrounding nature. If you bring your own transport you can explore the world famous beaches, costlines and the nearby "Serra do Caldeirão" which translates to Hills of the (witch) couldron.
Arbeit
Your Contribution can range from basic garden maintenance and land cleaning, up to more sophisticated building projects using natural building technics, wood or even concrete. We also have plenty of gardening tasks that includes pruning, clearing, shredding, irrigating, planting and landscaping, going all the way to improving water management and soil erosion. It doesn’t have to stop there either, if you are skilled in Cooking Plant Based meals we’ll love you to join the culinary ride! You will also take the Dogs for Walks and participate in keeping the house clean.
You must be able to work independently and with your own initiative, some tasks we will do together, where as other things you are expected to do by yourself. We like to keep things as simple as possible and go with the flow where possible. Some help is fun and one can keep going for longer periods of time, but others are heavy and therefor the labour involved will be done in a more comprehensive way. That’s why we like to keep it flexible and respect the situations and skills from the people involved.
Part of the Work you will do with your own initiative after our instructions either alone or with other volunteer's.

Unterkunft
We are located on a south facing slope just above a valley with beautiful views and great walking routes and little streams which only sometimes hold water. A place in nature with good access by Car.
You will be living either in your own tent/camper or with us in a traditional Algarvian house. Please only bring eco friendly soaps and other body care products as all our wastewater is treated on site and re-used on the land. Our meals are plant based. We eat meals together when our schedules allow for it, for the goal is to create a communal, friendly and sociable environment. a Stay usually includes 3 meals a day. We expect from you that you keep the premisses tidy and clean. Internet is available and included. Sometimes a bit slow and not everywhere there is great signla, however we have excellent 4G connection.

Be aware that we are a plant based household. As we live on the countryside, we have domestic animals sharing life with us, which are considered members of our family, it is of most importance to respect their presence and needs as they love to take part in the social exchange too.
We are located in central Algarve, 35 minutes from the closest beaches, 1.5 Hours to the spanish border and 1.5 hours to the Westcoast. About 40 minutes from the Airport. We have plenty walking or swimming options available within 10-15 minutes drive, the closest village is 5 minutes by car and you will reach Loulé where bigger stores/supermarkets are within a 20 minutes drive. There is VERY limited public transport (once a day...)
In case you come with a campervan we have parking possibilities.
