    Description

This property has been in operation for 13 years with lots of fruit trees on site, and fruit and vegetables obtainable almost all year around. the part i am working on was just started this year.

it is a 2 acre piece of the above farm. we are demonstrating with permaculture how a small dry land farmer can restore the ground water and at the same time earn four times the income of the surrounding dry land farms. to do this we show how to do some terra forming to retain water, to plant deep rooted nitrogen fixing trees and legumes, to plant fruit and nut trees, interplanting with medicinal herbs, vegetables, cereals, and oil crops. we have a teaching facility here where we can accommodate 50 farmers-in-training.

I am 70 years old, have been farming for 50 years, been teaching farmers for most of that time. we have the mission of recharging the ground water in india which has been severely depleted and will cause starvation if it is not recharged soon. we chose this farm because it is in a rain shadow and what works for the dry land farmers here will work almost anywhere in india.

also there is a great farmer training center place here with toilet, bathing, camping and workshop facilities

Lots of different jobs for volunteers. we have a 2 acre farm where we are demonstrating to small farmers how they can grow their own food, earn cash income and recharge the ground water in india.

jobs include planting trees from seeds, protecting new trees from the sun, mulching trees, harvesting fruit, harvesting begetalbles. visiting other farms nearby, also there is computer stuff like posting on facebook, website work.

we go off to do teaching of local farmers and need posters for this. cooking of food is part of the volunteer work.
