Hello workaways,
I’m Babs originally from Bern, Switzerland but now living in Costa Rica for the last few years. I own a small campsite equipped with 8 authentic Costa Rican cabins along with space for tents/campers. I am looking for volunteers to help with cleaning, turning over cabins and general maintenance. If you happen to have experience in carpentry, electrical or even gardening then that is a plus. As it is a campsite there is always something to do :)
Spanish is not mandatory but I employ 2 locals so it could come in handy if you want to communicate. With that being said they are also always willing to help out if you want to improve your spanish. On the property there are 6 dogs, so if you are a dog lover then great but if you are not you still have to be comfortable with them as this is their home too.

Live the simple life in paradise. The campground is situated on a quiet road that is mostly locals giving you lots of opportunity to improve your spanish and learn more about local culture. You will also have opportunity by bus on your days off to visit the towns nearby and there is always the possibility of hitching a ride with me if i am heading that way.

There is a lot to do in paradise :)
I may have a particular project in mind on any given day but if not there are plenty of daily tasks such as cleaning common areas, turning over cabins, laundry, keeping the grounds clean and there are always leaves to rake.

Unterkunft
You would be staying in one of the cabins that we rent for guests so you would have to be open minded about moving on any given day according to reservations, but you also have your pick of any of the available cabins. On the rare occasion that all cabins are rented then we have a tent for you to use or feel free to bring your own to pitch on the beach. I cook 3 meals a day for my employees and the volunteers whether it is your day to work or your day off. If you are not a fan of what I cook, feel free to cook your own meals(but then with your own groceries). We have two toilets and two showers.

We are located on a quiet beach close to Penshurt. The beach you will only share with the guests and other volunteers. To get here, take the bus from Limon to Sixaola and ask the bus driver to stop close to Penshurt at Villa Calina (he will know where). From there you walk the street along the beach for 1 km.
There is a lot to do in the area. Visit the National Park of Cahuita or Manzanillo, the nearby sloth sanctuary or the jaguar rescue center, walk to the different waterfalls close to Bribri, visit the small beach towns Cahuita or Puerto Viejo or book a chocolate or a coconut oil tour. Or just relax in the hammock on the beach and read a good book :)
I also have stand up paddle boards which you can use for a tour on the river behind the property.
