We stayed a month with this lovely British couple and it was great. Very diverse work, Mike was great at explaining the differnt tasks and they were very trustful and relaxed about the results. The nature and small villages around are gorgeous and there is a lot to see and enjoy according to camping and hiking.

Superb 4 weeks of work and limited fun due to COVUd and Helen's dad being ill which meant Helen was not always looking out for these workawyers. Both Line and Juan are exceedingly mature in their approach to work doing some very skilled jobs, building walls and tiling and plastering and rendering with little help after they received the initial
… read more training by Mike. Great and healthy cooks, experienced gardeners and they can and do clean up after the dirty work - cement and the like. The balance for us was great, this couple is sociable yet also very happy to be alone and really investigate the local area by bike. Oh, and our bikes work better now than when they were new - thank you Juan. Line is truly fluent in English and Juan advanced . Brillaint couple that I highly recommend to anyone who needs serious help - they do not watch the clock and carry on to finish a wall one day which was their desire and pleased us as well. This pair are also emotionally intelligent beyond their years, I hope the next host is a great one because Lien and Juan are great themselves. They will always be welcome if Sweden gets too cold for them.

The place is very well connected. 15km from a nice and sunny beach and it has a very close river that is beautiful and calm to spend the afternoon. Is a lovely place for bike rides.
We had a lot of fun in the time we spent with them. Both have an excellent sense of humor and are excellent English teachers. We were able to witness one of their great acoustic shows and we learned a lot with them. We are very happy to meet them and share time togheter.

These were our first workawayers after lockdown, I was less than relaxed to receive anyone at all in my home but I am so glad that I managed to welcome Mica and Ignacio. Both as individuals and as a couple they were a pleasure to have in our home for 31 days. They are self-sufficient socially and also great company at the dinner table and fabulous

They are classically intelligent and also emotionally intelligent using their initiative to complete tasks - both are very task-orientated and will work longer than 5 hours to see a task completed so hosts count their hours and give them an extra whole day off in lieu, please. The skills they used when they were with us are too numerous to mention but include rendering, replacing a large double door, painting walls, gardening - trees and vegetables and heavy-duty cleaning. I recommend this couple to everyone, their versatility and personality along with their intelligence guarantees they will surprise you and in a good way.

Both are great team members and also found work to do when we forgot to set a plan for the day, and are also flexible with days off, meal times and work schedules around what was a week of rain and two houses needing attention. They also occupy themselves well and discovered more of our local area than we have by exploring by car and on foot. We learnt so much from them not least that the future of the world will be pretty good which these two being a part of it. Christiana and Tom stayed with us for about two months and we accompanied so much together. They are great company, worldly with a knowledge of cinema and music that impressed us. So what do they do that makes them so special to have working and around a garden, a home, people, kids and pets?
1. They are very intelligent and adaptable to any
… read more situation we found ourselves in. That included a planned overcrowded time with relatives who have two young teenagers one who is autistic, a kitchen flood from a storm which meant we had to rapidly get a wall and roof and ceiling fixed, an unplanned overcrowding that meant only a sheet separated their sleeping area from ours for a couple of weeks as well as kittens arriving. This couple doesn’t simply cope, they manage the situation very well with a smile and determination.
2. Christiana is also a very safe driver and uses power tools responsibly and correctly as does Tom. They are both exceedingly strong lifting blocks and cement bags with ease. They follow through with jobs even if that means working way over 5 hours in any one day. This "stickablilty" was really appreciated by ourselves.
3. They have their own projects to do that just require a good Internet connection so they are often busy doing their own thing which means that as hosts we didn’t ever worry of they were bored because this couple always has something useful to do. I felt they are just as happy to be with each other or with us depending on what we had planned, they are self-sufficient in this way.
4. They can play the guitar well enough for an evening singalong, they can relax enough to just sit under the stars in silence or chat, they are competitive enough to make any board game interesting.
I cannot envision any host that would be anything other than delighted to have this couple. I feel sure we will be lucky enough to welcome Christiana and Tom back, and hopefully soon.

… read more mesmerizing, the accommodation is more than suitable as it gives you all the privacy that you require. The work we did was always interesting, we learnt so much. Whether it was upcycling old chairs, cementing a pool, flooring a bathroom, tiling a balcony and so on. We never felt pressured to do anything we didn't want to do, you were always right there to guide and help us.
But work wasn't all we did...You take the cultural exchange seriously, bringing us on amazing trips to Valencia, Gandia, Oliva, Diddleys, Xabia etc. Not to mention the vast amounts of life experience you bring to the table. We were fortunate enough to witness both your musical talents, especially going to one of your gigs.
Helen's level of empathy and Mike's DIY and engineering knowledge is truly inspiring! We really wish you all the best with future workawayers, and we hope to stay in touch as the friends that we became. The 5 P's will stay with us forever!

We truly enjoyed our experience living with Helen and Mike for 2 weeks! We arranged this workaway with our friend Alison and also had the company of two other workawayers, Tom and Christiana who we were also very glad to have met and shared the experience with! Helen and Mike are absolutely natural hosts. The house was always a calm and friendly
… read more environment and we were made to feel at home from the very beginning. Helen and Mike care to build relationships with the workawayers and provide a true cultural exchange. We had so many good conversations with them - they are interesting, smart, funny and well travelled! They both also have teaching backgrounds. We enjoyed so many nice meals together at home and were also able to go with Helen and Mike and the other workawayers out to dinner a couple of times and to a fiesta in Gandia. We went to one of their gigs that we would absolutely recommend it if you are staying over a Sunday! We also appreciated to have down time and have our own space for relaxing that we could use when we weren’t working.
Helen and Mike have lots of different projects going on mostly with their property renovation. As Alison described, we did cementing and labouring/weeding in the garden and could help out in the kitchen if we weren’t outside. Mike always took the time to explain how to do everything. As the work for us was mostly physical, it is tiring if the weather is warm. Helen and Mike would always make sure that we were really well fed and looked after and also were mindful if the weather was very hot etc. Helen is a fabulous cook. As a vegetarian, I was so thrilled to enjoy such a variety of great food and Helen was really happy to teach us her dishes. Mike also has a number of guitars around the house that he let us use in the downtime. It was great fun having little music sessions together and being able to learn from someone with lots of experience, patience and good humour.
The property itself and the surrounding village is also beautiful, and would be suited to those that love being around nature and mountains. We enjoyed exploring the area on one of our days off.

This was my first Workaway experience and it could potentially be the best workaway I do (haven’t completed anymore yet). I was there with my two friends Tessa and Jared while two other workawayers were also there.

… read more there and loved to talk about their experiences and our experiences of life, travel and so many other topics! The working day didn’t really have a set time of work but we usually worked outside for about 3-5 hours and generally if we went inside earlier, we would help out in the kitchen or with other tasks indoors that made up about 5 hours of time put towards helping with their ongoing task list!
We had four days off in the two weeks we stayed; one of those days, Helen and Mike drove us to Benidorm for the day so that we could visit the beach and local town. We also went to watch their gig on our final night which was so rewarding to see what talented musicians they are.
The work we helped with at the property included cementing, gardening/landscaping, preparing wood for staining and alphabetically sorting out their HUGE book collection for their newly stained bookshelf. The work can sometimes be tough out in the sun but they ensure we are all provided with lots of fluids and food to keep us going. Helen is particularly good at cooking delicious food and helping out in the kitchen with her is a great way to learn some tips on reducing food wastage, composting and general cooking tips!
