Our time in Santisteve was incredible. We spent most of our time with David (as Cèlia had to work away from the village). He was an excellent host, making sure we were always comfortable and sharing Aragónese and Catalán culture, food, language, and history with us. He also has a wealth of knowledge on homesteading, cabin- and wall-building, and

We also met others in the village who were so friendly and welcoming, human and animal alike. The work itself physically demanding at times, but very rewarding, and we learnt a lot from it -- from the logistics of building dry-stone walls, to how and why to dig a key line, to (most of all) how crucial it is to have patience. We were so inspired by the home David and Cèlia have built themselves, and have come away with more fleshed-out ideas of what we want for ourselves in the future.
At the end of our stay, we had the opportunity to meet and spend time with Cèlia. She is every bit as welcoming, knowledgeable, and approachable as David, on top of also being fluent in English. It was lovely to see the ways they both complemented one another's personalities.
In the end, it was honestly hard to say goodbye, but we plan to stay in touch and hopefully return one day.
To David and Cèlia, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful experience.
And to Workawayers considering reaching out, we highly recommend doing so -- you will thank yourselves for it.
Dan & Seb were with us almost 4 entire weeks. They initially came to help with the stone walls but ended not just making a remarcable progress on the west wall of the property, but also coping with other tasks such as making firewood, digging a key-line and the bast majority of the water pond, taking TLC of the entire property while we were out,

They showed excellent individual attitudes and eagerness to learn and make all the tasks, but their overall performance increases dramatically when they work together. They make an outstanding team together.
Thanks guys for your help and respect for our project, and hope to see you soon around here.

Collette was here at Santisteve for some days in early September, helping with the erection of the garden´s dry stone retaining wall. Thanks also to her interest in languaje exchange, we had the opportunity to improve our respective languajes of interest (Castillian in her case, English in mine´s).
In a nutshell, Collette was a nice companion during these days, and I hope she to come back someday here to Santisteve. Many thanks Collette!
I spent a fantastic week at David's with my friend Carmen!

All in all, I can't wait to come back one day to David and Celia's place, in the middle of these magical mountains and in the warm atmosphere that our hosts have succeeded in creating.

I had an amazing week at David and Cèlia's place! With no prior experience, my friend Max and I learned the principles to build a retaining dry-stone wall for the greengarden, thanks to David’s excellent guidance and the resources he provided.

We had a wonderful time with David and Cèlia! The two are really nice people, taught us a lot and accommodated us well. (The food was really delicious and typical for the region 😋)
Building the stone wall for the cabin was a great task.
We also learned a lot about the history of the place, the region and the culture.

Eva and Fabio were 3 days helping to build the stone wall of the greengarden cabin.
Thanks to their eager, hands-on motivation and amazing ability they soon coped autonomously with the entire process to erect the wall: screening sand, mixing it with lime and water to make a nice lime mortar, select and put in place the stones. The result was a
