The tasks we took on during our stay—cleaning, laundry, cooking, childcare, and simple DIY work such as sanding—never felt like a burden. Instead, they became a natural part of our daily routine, and we truly enjoyed contributing. Above all, the time spent playing with the children was invaluable. Seeing our children bond with yours so effortlessly, laughing and playing together, filled us with joy.
One of the most memorable moments was playing cricket outside, but above all, we will never forget the hours spent around the table playing The Traitor board game! Our daughter became completely hooked on the game and even started enjoying the The Traitor TV show. If your son ever appears on the show in the future, she will undoubtedly be watching with great enthusiasm! (Haha)
Cooking was another wonderful experience. Being given the opportunity to share Japanese home-cooked meals with you was truly special, and we were overjoyed to see you enjoy every dish we prepared.
Communication was seamless, thanks to the use of WhatsApp. This allowed us to avoid misunderstandings and made our stay even more comfortable. We deeply appreciate your efforts in ensuring smooth and open communication, which made us feel truly valued.
Initially, we planned to stay for two weeks, but we were grateful for the opportunity to extend our stay by an additional week to care for your cat while you were away. This extra time allowed us to relax as a family and explore the surrounding area, making our experience even more fulfilling.
Our children take immense pride in the time they spent with yours, and we look forward to seeing the kids' chatroom continue to thrive with their lively conversations.

My daughter and I have just returned from our first Workaway experience and we thank Sei and her lovely family for this amazing holiday so much! We had plenty of free time to wander around the town or go on a trip, the "schedule" was pretty flexible. … read more were really easy to do. My daughter loved the "dance competitions" with Jonah and crafting puzzles or cards for Benjamin ;-). Despite her busy schedule, Sei was really accommodating and gave us a lift from and to the train station and even took us on a trip to the Peak District, which was a true highlight! The "attic", where we stayed, is in fact the largest bedroom in the house with a new bathroom just right next to it. … read more for a few weeks and these weeks became almost two months and all these days were special. My routine was super calm and Sei was always very worried if I was okay or if I needed something. The boys are very calm and independent and very well educated by their super mommy. Jonah my best friend when listening to music (he loved it) “Play Maltida” “Play Muppets” in their shows and private dances, our afternoons after school were always very excited.Building a huge bond with him and I will always remember what a sweet, caring and happy child he is, did me a huge amount of good. Ben, my best football player I remember the first time we saw each other and the first thing we went to do was play ball and we did that for many, many days, in the garden, on the field or in the bedroom, anywhere fun was guaranteed. I will always remember this amazing boy who loves to read and who helped me with English or with anything I needed, a good and very smart boy, I loved our days together. And besides all this experience with them in Sheffield, Sei invited me to travel with them on the holidays and we went to another country by car (I didn't expect that one) so what was already good got even better. The routine on those days was very, very calm, Sei made me feel free to explore the region and at the same time took me on trips with them by train, boat and on foot. I got to know a beautiful place that wasn't in my plans thanks to I know that she is a strong woman and dedicated to her children. Thanks again for these moments and for this amazing stay. I only had to do light work around the house and watch the kids for a few hours whenever she'd go to the gym in the afternoon or after their bedtime if she wanted to go out. All in all she was very flexible and always made sure I was ok with watching the kids and whether or not I had plans myself already.
Sheffield is also a great city to stay in, especially for a climber like myself and the busses make it easy to get around. There are several bus stops at walking distance which make it possible to get around all of Sheffield.

The work was as described in the listing: We got up in the morning with the kids, cooked meals, tidied up living room and kitchen, washed the dishes, and engaged the kids in activities - outdoors when the weather allowed.
Sei was very accommodating, so we had enough time as a family to visit different areas in Sheffield. We had several hours to ourselves every day. Griff and Sei even made a delicious traditional roast for us before we left! What a rewarding time it has been! I did a few trips with Sei, Benjamin and Jonah and always enjoyed my time!
We went to the pantomime, to Hull and the sea world, to the peak district national park, to the christmas market,… Also on yourself you can do quite a lot trips through England (f.ex. Liverpool, Manchester, leeds, York, London,..). There are busses and trains driving for low prices to the cities. If you have any questions regarding to things you can do in Sheffield and around, general questions or if you need a personal advice you can always ask Sei! She will take care of you and support you.
Your main tasks are to play with the children, to create and spend quality time with them, to do the dishes and easy cleaning (f.ex. hoover,..), sometimes to cook, to babysit the boys in the mornings of the weekends,.. Sei is really easy going so you can always talk to her. You are living in a big room for yourself and mostly have an own bathroom. During your free days you can do whatever you are up to. The city center is close by so you can always walk to the center (or take a bus).
I can highly recommend to workaway in this family!! I had such an amazing time and always enjoyed spending my time with them. I will definitely return and can’t wait to see you again! It was unfortunate that the kids took it in turns being ill while she was here so they werent on top form, but they really enjoyed having her here. I knew that whatever she did with them they'd have fun. They particularly enjoyed baking, and I enjoyed eating the biscuits!

I was not supposed to go to Seirian's but another workaway cancelled my stay not long before I start my trip. So I contacted Seirian and I can say this was destiny!

Seirian is the sweetest and kindest host ever. She will do everything to help you. She came to pick me up
… read more at the train station when I arrived, she helped me when I broke my adaptator, she helped me as much as she could but not only me, also my best friend Who was in a terrible situation in bulgaria. She is caring and deeply interested about you. She will do everything to make you feel at home. She bought everything that I may have asked (cheese and bread as a typical frenchie) and took me to several great places. I was completely part of the family. I joined them to family trip, restaurant... We have had very nice and deep conversations on the evenings.
B. and Jonah are the most intelligent, generous, funny, handsome and lovable little boys. I enjoyed every minutes (except maybe the ones at 5h30 but this is a detail😉). They are very well behave, sweet and they love to perform! I really bond with them, I am going to miss them so much!!!
Seirian is very flexible about the work. It is basically 5 h a day, 5 days a week. But the most of the work is on the week-end (watch out the boys on the early morning and go w/ them on family trip) so you can have more time ln the weekdays. It is not hard work (cleaning/tidying/laundry/dishes...) so you will have a lot of time to discover the city.
Sheffield is very nice when you know where to go! I discover so man hidden but stunning places in the city centre. The library is a place to go!!!
I had the opportunity to meet Seirian's relatives like Griff, Fiona, Liz and they were all very nice to me! I feel very lucky.

This has been my first experience as a workaway and although there has been little time I have spent with this family a week, the experience has been very rewarding.

Meeting the children was a wonderful thing, their acceptance of me from minute one was very good and loving. They are very friendly, smiling and happy, they include you in their games and it is very nice to be with them. Thanks to them I was able to learn a lot during my stay, I am very grateful for that.
The work is not hard, help in the routine tasks of a house, cook delicious meals if that is what you like, take care of the children ... and easy things to do that are emerging.
I thank Seirian because I always include myself in his family plans and activities, very fun and enriching for me.
I like to walk and I think the location of her house with respect to the center of Sheffield is close, 15 min walk. You can also see other areas of park and nature of Sheffield that can be reached on foot, it is very relaxing.

It was special that we celebrated the birthday of our big boy at Sheffield when we were there. And he received a gift from Seirian.
Seirian took us on a trip, showed the area that was very beautiful, we were at a festival.
Sheffield is a beautiful city, but the countryside is more beautiful.

… read more family they cleared the garden and shed (which was a horrible, dirty job), they looked after my boys whenever they decided they wanted to be looked after!, they washed up and babysat and painted the walls!
The whole family were really great with my kids, especially Jonah. They were patient, tolerant and seemed to genuinely enjoy their company.
The kids played together well, my boys can be quite demanding and i found balazs and adam to be really tolerant of 2 younger kids. Adam even beat me at scrabble! (Nobody does that!!) Unfortunately they visited Sheffield during the wettest 2 weeks of the year so far, which meant I didn't get to show them the beautiful countryside as much as I'd have liked.
The only thing I'd change about their stay is that I should've made it longer! Next time!

… read more disability, but to be honest, if I did not know that I would not be able to tell - he just seems younger than he is but is such an active and cheerful child that interacting with him is never boring - he always thinks of new games and wants to entertain everyone around him.
