Rosita was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was punctual, enthusiastic and whole heartedly helped with tasks assigned to her. We had just moved house so for a few days she helped unpack in the kitchen and garage and the next couple of days she helped hang up picture frames - some of which were real tricky to work with. She went above and beyond to make sure the job was done to perfection. She has some fine carpentry skills ! Apart from work ethic she was just such a pleasure to have around the house, she ate meals with us, made hot drinks for us, and we always had something to chat about. Rosita would be welcome to our home any time, beyond this Workawayer contract. Definitely one of the finer kinder humans out there. I could see her being a wonderful addition as a helping hand to another host.

Marie est restée une dizaine de jours à la maison et ce fût une très belle expérience. Nous avons fait du pain et cuisiné quelques recettes ensemble. Marie s'est occupée de la récolte et de la transformation de quelques légumes au jardin. Au quotidien, elle s'est avérée facile à vivre, respectueuse et aidante, notamment pour se rappeler des paroles et des airs de quelques comptines pour enfants, un gros plus ! Elle a pu nous accompagner à des rendez-vous et s'occuper de notre chien ou de notre bébé lorsque nous étions occupés à d'autres tâches. N'hésitez pas :) Marie stayed with us for about 10 days, and it was a great experience. We baked bread and cooked a few recipes together. Marie harvested and transformed some vegetables from our garden. On a day-to-day basis, she was easy-going, respectful, and helpful, including with remembering lyrics from some kids' songs. She accompanied us to some appointments when we needed help either with the baby or the dog, which was also a great help. Don't hesitate :)

I spent a month (September 2025) with Christine and Lawrence and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Whether I was helping Christine around the house or exploring the area with Lawrence, everything was great fun. I had the opportunity to get to know Canada in an authentic way. Especially through the markets and visits to friends, I was able to meet many different people and gather lots of impressions. Christine is an excellent cook and baker! Lawrence is very funny and always up for a laugh. They always took great effort to explain everything clearly and show me how everything works. I really enjoyed spending time with the animals every day. I especially grew fond of Bear and Coco. But the horses are also incredibly sweet, and I miss spending time with them every day. I am very grateful for the wonderful time I had and will miss it very much. So thank you very much Christine and Lawrence for my first Workaway experience!

Elaina joined us as we were completing several projects and she relished being involved with and helping complete tasks. It was a good time, the weather was great, the work and projects was so diverse and all significant. Everyday counted towards completing a project. It was brilliant to tie-up loose-ends. Elaina helped with all aspects of what we do. She cared for the babies in the chick room, prepared diets for the various birds, and even managed to befriend a wayward cockatoo. Elaina will come to you with an open mind and an absorbency to learn, she is a sponge for knowledge and a will to further herself (she's already great, but having an openness to grow - is awesome). From cutting grapes to hand-rendering an endangered ibis nesting cliff Elaina had a really diverse experience here and in doing so, jumped us forward for which we are very grateful. Thank you!

Eric and I stayed for 2 weeks with Marco. There we have pulled weeds, raked gravel, helped cleaning the new house, working a bit with clay plastering and general housekeeping. From Monday till Thursday Marco works, and we managed ourself. The fridge was always fully stacked! From Friday till Sunday we worked alongside Marco and that was educative and fun. He is also easy to talk to and understanding when we expressed missing working alongside him. We adjusted accordingly and had a much better time after opening up to each other. So even though we hoped for more natural building, we still have learned a lot, had a good time and new friend :) Thanks Marco!

Volunteering with Francesco was an incredible experience. You can expect about five hours of work per day, helping with various tasks around the surf house. Francesco is very accommodating of all skill levels and backgrounds, as long as you do your best and work well as part of the team. We spent a lot of time surfing, which I learned to do during my month-long stay—and I’m so glad I did. Francesco is a great teacher and is patient and supportive every step of the way. Once I became more confident, I had the opportunity to assist beginner surfers and became very comfortable with the equipment and techniques needed for a great surfing session. Overall, I had an amazing stay and truly felt part of a team, with my fellow volunteers and Francesco leading the way. It was a rewarding experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to learn new skills, enjoy the ocean, and be part of a welcoming community.

We could not have asked for a better Workaway with Cara, a truly wonderful host. She was kind and caring, understanding the need for work life balance. She took great care of us and met all of our needs. The work was well explained, simple and the hours were more than fair. We were given a variety of opportunities to learn new skills while also using the skills we already possessed so we could feel confident in the work we completed. We even loved spending time with her two lovely dogs as well :) Thanks for a great experience!

We are so grateful for this experience in Normandy. It was something special and totally worth crossing the country! Although we accomplished several very cool physically demanding tasks, the rest of the days was nicely balanced with planting a green roof, harvesting apples and nuts, cooking and eating delicious food! We well spent evenings playing cards and drawing, reading. Many hanks to Sylvia, her friends and family, we were truly blessed spending two weeks in a countryside.

Sarah & Rosie were great!!! Highly recommend :)

It was such a pleasure to have Serena at home. After 5 minutes, she fitted perfectly with the rest of the family. She is full of energy, curious, kind and considerate, and if that was not enough, she cooks very well, is very active, reliable, built a great relationship with my teenagers in no time, and is always happy! If you are lucky, she may contact you to volunteer with you : )

Jamie is a joy to have in your house. Jamie is fun, calm, intelligent, and keen to learn. Jamie picks up skills quickly, being interested in a variety of things - gardening, landscaping, and generally how to run a property, which is one of his dreams, to have his own place someday! Jamie used the electric chainsaw to turn a big tree into firewood and stacked the whole lot. He used the trimmer, raked, weeded, dug out thistles, washed windows, cleaned the whole house of spider webs ... all done with a smile and with care. And - he made the most of the opportunity to have the river right here- regular cold swims! Wow! Jamie also enjoyed being part of the community, getting to know neighbours, visiting the school, and finding out about local history and Aotearoa. Jamie - come back any time! All the best and kakite!

Rosanna and José spent two weeks at the farm. They are both very easy-going and hardworking people. They fully understood the concept of community living and woofing, always trying to take part in useful tasks and offering ideas for improvement. They did weeding, composting, prepared cotton, pomegranates... and carried out several small tasks, some more physical than others, always with great seriousness and enthusiasm. They also regularly helped with meal preparation and kindly shared some of their own traditional dishes with us. I highly recommend this lovely and dedicated couple.

He pasado tres semanas con Eneko y su familia y sin duda espero volver a encontrarme con ellos en otro momento. Si buscas estar en un sitio tranquilo, rodead@ de montañas y trabajar con la tierra no dudes en ir a ayudarle. No solo estarás ahí "trabajando" sino que si de verdad estás interesad@ en aprender sobre como llevar una huerta y sobre otros mil temas de conversación, Eneko estará dispuesto a explicarte todo con todo detalle. Se agradece mucho juntarse con alguien así que esté dispuesto a enseñarte siempre. También se agradecen muchos las comidas y cenas con un poco de charla al finazarlas. Un abrazo también a Amaia que siempre estaba atenta y pendiente de que estuviese cómoda y q me sintiese bien. 🤗 Eskerrik asko familia❤️

Grit was my first host on workaway, and it was great ! I stayed 3 weeks but it was so sympathic that I could have stayed longer. I had such a good moment with her and Daisy at the beaches we visited, with Malvin when we played the board game. She also allowed me to do new experiences and meet new people !  Grit is a kind and attentive person, we had interesting conversations and maybe one day we could continue them ! We'll see :)

We had the best time with Eldrid. She is very flexible regarding work hours. The work in itself was easy, it just required patience and thoroughness (we painted the living room walls). She is very welcoming, always smiling, very friendly. We did activities together and it was very nice. Thanks again for having us !

Nous sommes restés une petite semaine chez Josiane et Daniel en décembre 2024, cela a été une super expérience pour nous ! Nous avons travaillé avec Daniel dans le jardin, c’était super car il était avec nous et nous donnait des instructions claires sur ce qu’on devait faire : ramasser des feuilles, des branches, les ordonner, les broyer dans une machine… Il nous a fourni le matériel et l’équipement nécessaire, c’était parfait. Josiane cuisinait avec les légumes du jardin, c’était à chaque fois délicieux vraiment !! Ils nous ont initié à l’art de la vielle à roue, et nous les avons même accompagnés à un bal traditionnel à Toulouse, c’était une expérience unique et super à découvrir avec eux. Nous avons dormi dans une chambre très grande et confortable, le seul point difficile au vu de la saison (hiver) était la douche et les toilettes en extérieur (dans une zone non chauffée) mais nous étions avertis avant de venir. Ce sont des personnes très gentilles et agréables, la communication était toujours fluide et ils sont arrangeants, nous avons également rencontré leurs voisines qui sont aussi très gentilles, en bref, nous avons passé un super moment avec eux et nous aimerions beaucoup les revoir !! À bientôt on espère !

I don’t even know where to start — this family is truly amazing! From the very first moment, they made me feel completely at home. They are so loving, open, and patient — even with my Spanish still improving, they always made sure I felt included and understood. I got to be part of all their family activities and learned so much about Colombian culture, traditions, and delicious food. It was such a heartwarming and inspiring experience. The work was light, helping with the young trees, overall it felt more like being part of daily family life, which made it even more special. I’m endlessly grateful for my time here and can’t recommend this Workaway enough!

Hannah stayed with us in Karakorum for two months in August and September 2025, and if we had awards for volunteers, she would win the first prize! She is the kindest, most trustworthy, and hardest-working volunteer. I could list her good characteristics and achievements for hours. She not only completed all the tasks she was asked for and fulfilled all basic responsibilities of managing the shifts in the center, keeping the space clean and organized, but she did so much more for our Center, representing us beautifully among both tourists and Mongolian visitors. She was always sharing her smile with people and giving amazing guided tours of the exhibitions. She learned a great deal about the Mongolian script while she was here, including calligraphy, and was even able to teach it to visitors. She won a prize in a Mongolian calligraphy contest at the local museum! She modernized our sales tracking by creating professional Excel sheet templates, as well as an invoice system. She gets along well with other volunteers, is very independent, and doesn't bother the hosts because she deals with most things herself. She could even fix some appliances that broke, like an electric stove. She was a real treasure in our Center and will always stay in our hearts and always have a home here. We recommend her 100% to other hosts and hope she'll be back one day.
