If you are self-motivated and want a relaxing time in the blue mountains I would reccomend reaching out to Lisa. She is also a wonderful artist... Thank you guys for everyhing!!

My time with Peter, Luna, and Marty was exactly what I needed. I was looking for a mid-summer adventure, and found one in the mountains of Vermont. Peter was very communicative and easy to work with in setting up my stay. As an incredibly generous host, he set up the beautiful little bunkhouse for me, which was the perfect home. The main house was full of knick-knacks and odd things to find entertainment in, and Peter had a story for every one. Dinners were incredible, Peter really is a an amazing chef, and was happy to accommodate dietary restrictions (even if there was the occasional slip-up;). Luna was a hoot, and I found the father-daughter dynamic to be quite fun. I enjoyed chatting with Luna, teaching her some guitar, and sharing about my own life. Marty was a fantastic work-buddy! I found real camaraderie with him, he's a great teacher and showed me all the ropes as I settled in. The work each day varied, from clearing brush to picking 400 heads of garlic to putting cedar shakes up on a neighboring house, there really weren't many dull moments. Being out in the woods and in the middle-of-nowhere Vermont probably isn't for everybody, but I found real peace in the scenery, escape with little cell-service, and fulfillment in the manual labor. I was happy to have found such a gracious host that made the entire experience of ~the unknown~ comfortable and exciting. I highly recommend staying with Peter and Luna, especially as a new Workawayer, and get ready to roll-up your sleeves and learn new skills. (P.S. Ask about the Truck-Stop swimming hole, it's magnificent!!)

I am conflicted about writing this, as I cannot fault any of the accuracy of what Jane has described in her profile. She respected every single thingbof the profile. The house, the bedroom, the food, everything was exceptional and no complain about it. I arrived to her party with my previous host so no reason at all to assume that I was not happy with him. Bad assumption, make doubt all her subsequent arguments. She was clearly displeased because I decided to leave early because she was #redacted#. So that full day trip to Alberobello and other towns was so stressful for me that I decided to leave. I really think that's something to mention in a review. What she says about something burnt in the bedroom is not true or someone else did it before because I don't smoke. Iunderstand that for many Workawayers is difficult to write a bad review or mention bad things about hosts because of being afraid of receiving a bad review back, that's why I decided not to write this until she wrote first. I cannot recommend Jane for safety reasons.

Hannah was a fantastic workaway and we were very happy to have her. She stayed with us for 4 months. She was flexible, good-natured, calm, and hard-working. She got along very well with our daughter and played with her for countless hours. She also learned how to do many tasks outside. Sometimes she struggled and would ask for help but always had a can-do attitude and did not complain. We had many intriguing discussions about life. Hannah participated in some of the social and cultural events we provided but also was very happy to stay home by herself to watch movies. She mostly lived out in our canvas tent and during the first week she had a severe respiratory reaction to the cold night air. She also had a food intolerance that we were never able to fully determine what it was. Maybe milk, maybe cheese. This resulted in her having intense stomach pain sometimes. We found that Hannah's communication was sometimes confusing as she is not used to being direct. We always worked it out in the end and had a laugh. We hope Hannah has an amazing year at school and we certainly recommend her to any other workaway. Best of luck Hannah!

Alisha immediately proved to be honest, reliable, and hardworking, helping and collaborating even during her free time, going above and beyond what was requested. This, along with her outgoing and positive personality, fostered such a bond of trust that it encouraged me to do something I had never done before: leave the guesthouse completely in her hands during my return trip to Italy. I highly recommend her to all future hosts.

Hosting Alexandra and Peter was a very positive experience. They are happy people, communicative and disciplined couple. Excellent work ethics with skills to match. Beyond the usual garden work they finished building the large triple bay compost bins and we are now operational with our composting venture. My trust in their abilities was well founded and they did not disappoint, delivering compost bins which are all square, plumb and level. Screening about a ton of compost was fast and efficient. Making the Goulash was so so so good. It took me back to the kitchen of my childhood. Their cooking was excellent and our dinners together was full of good conversations and laughter. Wishing you safe travels and happiness.

I had initially planned to stay at Greg’s place for one month. However, the time I spent in Ohara passed incredibly fast, and I ended up extending my stay. Ohara is a beautiful place, immersed in Japan’s countryside while being relatively close to Tokyo (about two hours by train). The coast has many beautiful beaches, which are popular spots for surfing. I stayed in my own, fully furnished cabin, where I could enjoy an amazing view on the ocean and surrounding forest. Work is varied: weeding, planting, watering, mowing and general repairs are common tasks. In exchange of 4/5 hours of work a day you get a really good accommodation and your groceries paid. Moreover, Greg may sometimes invite you to eat sashimi at local restaurants. Greg is surely an interesting character, with many stories to tell. He likes you to work conscientiously, and if you do so, he is very appreciative. We also happened to share some interests and had some great conversations talking about Japan’s history. Thank you Greg, Carolina, my fellow workawayers and everybody else in the community, who has been incredibly friendly and kind. I hope I can find the chance to come back for some more time soon.

Alessandro is a pleasure to work with. He is giving care in what he does, aiming to master the skill quickly and thoroughly. he already has some experience in fine art, and I could see that in his work. he is a great cook when it comes to Italian dishes, and a pleasant company in the house. His reliability and hard-working capacity were a real help to us.

Vincent is a really good person, skilled, and always looking for perfection on any task he endures. He helped us for 2 weeks, in this time he helped us with the weed of our small farm, also welcomed some of our guests and made a very good job at cleaning a couple of windows that were very dirty. Unfortunately he had to leave earlier to what we have arranged. He has a very good energy and a very good spanish level. He has his own way of critical thinking, which is always nice when you want a second point of view. Safe travels!

Thank you, Jane for welcoming us into your beautiful home surrounded by nature and the cutest dog everrr! It was a pleasure to stay with you and we are so glad that we were able to alleviate some of the stress of moving out! From great nights by the fire, to great home cook meals, to exploring the local area, to great conversations and music - we really could not ask for much more for our first workaway experience! Your wisdom and thirst for life has inspired us and we will continue to take it with us on our travels! Thank you! Kim and Freya :)

Staying at Marias house was an incredible experience fulled with cultural, gastronomic and skills exchange. At the same time while working at her house, garden, vegetable garden or any other activity she needs help with. Maria is a beautiful person, hard worker, that will expect the same from you while you're helping her. The more you get to know her the more you will realised all the things she does for other people and will definitely do for you in case you need it. I wouldn't miss the chance of experiencing life in the Italian countryside with Maria. It was a pleasure to meet you !

I've spent 2 weeks at Lin's place in the middle of the forest at an old Swedish summer house. The location is very peaceful and relaxing, and it can be ideal if you want to connect with nature. From the very beginning, Lin has welcomed me very warmly and friendly. We instantly clicked and got along well throughout the time spent together. Communicating openly, honestly and with compassion went very smoothly with Lin. She made an extra effort to introduce me to Swedish cuisine, which I am very grateful for. I've got to try and taste knäckebröd, blodpudding ( a bit weird 😅), sill and leverpastej. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner together, accompanied by great conversations. She also made sure to have fika together daily. Lin also challenged me positively to try out new things, which I very much appreciate. I could tell that she is a caring person who wants to help others and wants the best for other people. I've spent multiple days helping with painting the outside walls of the house. Besides this, I've also helped with household chores such as cooking and doing the dishes, and very importantly, taking care and spending time with the dogs, Ramses and Luna. Ramses is very playful and sometimes chaotic, but also a big cuddlebear. Luna is very gentle and she adores belly rubs. I had a great time sitting and playing with the dogs, as well as walking them. I've also got to meet Goran, who spent 4 days with us. He passionately told me some of his stories from the past, as well as showing me some of his traveling photos. He was also very friendly and showed me the surrounding areas. It was a very interesting and unique experience, being in the middle of the forest. Lin, Goran, Ramses and Luna made sure that every day was worth it. They all contributed to an amazing and pleasant time together. I would definitely recommend Lin to other Workawayers. Not only does she have a big and caring heart, a warm soul and good energy, but she also has a lot of interesting stories and you can definitely have great conversations with her. Thank you for everything, Lin. 😁

Alan is a great carpenter and will be an excellent one in the future. He solves problems, a key component of carpentry, rather than waiting to be told what to do. That said, he knows his limits, and would be sure to ask if he needed advice on a technique or a material. Both of these are rare but key components of a good carpenter. He has boundless energy (he often would finish his Workaway tasks, and then go for a 20 km run through the mountains), a keen sense of humour, curiosity in spades, and a great work ethic including pride in completing his tasks and doing so with flair. His completion of our shower is a great example. He cooks better than he thinks, he stepped in whenever he saw help was needed, he made others better just working with them, and he made us laugh (particularly when he did his now famous "chair dives" off the local dock.) Alan is a great worker with a wide range of skills from joinery, to tiling, to managing a chainsaw (including an Alaska Mill) , and an even better person! Highly, highly recommended across the board, and we hope to keep in touch with him in the future.
