Angela is a fantastic host, we felt at home straight away. The Lodge is in a spectacular location, we couldn't stop looking at the view, and really enjoyed exploring the local area. The food provided is delicious and Angela made us some really special meals including steak, homemade burgers and nachos. The work is fun and flexible depending on the weather. Cam took us out fishing which was a great experience for us all, and we even tried Eel for the first time. The room is spacious and the house is really cosy especially by the fire. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay over a few wet and windy days on the west coast. Thanks so much Angela and Cam :)

It was a real pleasure to be there, learning more about small-scale producing and being quite immersed in family life. I really enjoyed being part of the production and hearing all the stories they had to share about their experiences, even the numerous bizarre ones Francis would tell. I learned some new things, tried some new things, and I think I showed the downstairs toilet some new things too. Thank you guys for being such gracious and welcoming hosts!

I spent one week in Casablanca and then switched to do three weeks in Berrechid. I enjoyed the vibe in Berrechid. Students and teachers were great.

Matty is inadvertently contending for a top spot in the workaway super league. Everything on his profile is true: he really does exist and has top notch building and woodworking skills. He is very easy going, cooks great food and doesn't stop working. Despite arriving with a broken wrist, he still managed to build two firewood shelters, patch up cracks in the shed, waterproof a leaky wall, change a tap, strim the lawn, plant out a veg bed and tidy everything in sight — all in under a week. If he had been fully able-bodied he would have probably rebuilt the house. Or perhaps a sauna. Maybe next time ;) Big hug Matt, thanks for all your hard work. Was great hanging out

Anaïs and Margarita were wonderful house sitters. I often feel anxious when going away, but they instantly put me at ease and I was able to enjoy a completely carefree holiday. They had everything under control and kept guests, pets, and plants all very happy. I came home to a spotless house and a clean car — complete with a full tank and new windscreen wipers! It was really nice overlapping with them both before and after my trip, too. They’re as lovely as can be.

Dempsey is a super nice lass with an interesting life story. She was fun to work with, great to chat to, and inspiring to cook with. She’s hardworking — as she says herself, made of tough stuff! A thorough cleaner and great in the garden too. Most importantly, she’s lovely company — easygoing, upbeat, and always in a good mood.

If you have the chance to volunteer here; do it! I loved my time here! Paul is an enthusiastic and easygoing host, and his family is so lovely. He makes sure you have everything you need and helps you wherever he can. The hostel is super relaxed, and many people end up staying longer than planned, which is great, because it gives you time to really connect with others, both your fellow volunteers and the locals in town. It has everything you need: a good kitchen, cozy living room, daily yoga sessions, and a great surf break just a few minutes’ walk away. The volunteer work was simple; I mainly helped at reception and with a few light household tasks. I worked every other evening for about 5–6 hours, so there was plenty of time left to surf, explore, and chill! I stayed in a dorm with one other volunteer — simple, but it had everything I needed. Dankjewel Paul en Dani, hasta luego!!

Kristina is something special... from the very moment she arrived, she lightened the atmosphere here. Her peaceful nature made for some really deep and unguarded chats. I found myself genuinely caring about her as time went on – that kind of connection you don't get often. She's incredibly trustworthy, the sort of person you just know has your back. In terms of helping out, it was also just what I needed: she's diligent, careful, works with purpose and the rooms we worked on now look fantastic. Kristina even tested her massage skills on me a few times, as well as two of my friends. I prefer massages to be on the brink of extremely painful, and surprisingly she was able to deliver! I felt amazing during and afterwards. Kishka also helped keep her guinea-pigs down while she was doing her magic. Speaking of Kishka, she definitely became smitten with Kristina – she's got a great sense for good people. I'd genuinely recommend Kristina to any host. She's the real deal – a lovely person, reliable, and I'm sure just adds something good to wherever she lands. 8)

we worked for two weeks helping adam with his activities : collecting and storing firewood, helping adam building a wooden shelter (foundation, walls and roof), cleaning and reorganizing the wood area, clearing the land, started digging a trench for drainage and preparing the foundation for a concrete pour (for an outdoor bathroom) with two other volunteers, cleaning the terrace, pruning the grapevine, and helping with workshop organization. the variety of tasks made every day different and interesting, and when something felt too tiring, we could always ask adam for a break. the work rhythm was ideal : we started in the morning and finished after five hours of work — no more and no less — then enjoyed a delicious lunch made by anna. we shared a lot of meals together : always delicious and varied ! anna always managed to adapt the food to our vegan/vegetarian diet (thank you again for that!) :) her cooking is incredible, made with care and high-quality products ; it was always the best reward after a day of work ! taking part in adam’s projects taught us a lot : we felt useful, but also realized how important it is not to be shy, to ask, to learn, and to push ourselves a little beyond our limits. over time, we noticed how he encouraged us to try new tools and tasks ourselves, which really helped us gain confidence and trust in our own abilities. you never stop learning here. he and anna also consistently thanked us for the work we completed, which made us feel that our contributions were truly valued. adam was always patient and adapted to our level of experience and physical capacity ; he never asked for anything we couldn’t do. the couple was very open-minded ; we could talk about every kind of subject. they were also attentive to everyone’s energy and always took into account when someone was tired. his place is wonderful — peaceful, surrounded by forest, and full of charm. it was such a pleasure to explore the area after work and to visit the beautiful nearby village. last but not least, a very special mention for ludka and pixel ! being around the dogs was fantastic : they’re very friendly, always looking for cuddles, and each has their own funny personality. no real negative points : if you work seriously, stay curious, and don’t hesitate to ask questions, everything will go perfectly. this experience really made us want to continue doing workaway, because this is exactly the kind of experience we’re looking for ! :) à bientôt, chers amis ! <3 claire & tom

Ci hai conquistato subito, Michael, con la tua energia contagiosa e quella tua voglia instancabile di imparare l'italiano, migliorando a vista d'occhio. E quante belle chiacchiere ci siamo fatti! Axinja has spent one month with us . She was a wonderful volunteer , she is very well organised and very reliable, open minded. During this time she always did ber best with our daughter ( who was not always easy, but Axi did always her best to understand Barbara and gave her all her love). We had always good time with Axi, she is always ready to help . Axi likes French culture and French food. We hope to host Axi in summer during lavender season .

Laetitia and Louisa were wonderful house guests and really great workers. We focused on weeding our native seedlings while they were here. They were able to work on their own when I was otherwise busy. They were also more than willing to help with other tasks in the garden and house. As a bonus they were great with my dog. I would have them stay again for good company and great workers.

Richard was so helpful and motivated to help us improve the garden by preventing all those cedar tree roots from invading the garden. He really worked on hacking and digging them out which was quite a task! It was fun working with him as he enjoyed the physical workout the garden gave him. We shared a lot of stories and learned a lot about his home area and his travels. We planted some really nice shrubs and digging those holes was a huge job going through all the mounds of rocks! Richard worked on part of our trail network and moved around a lot of tree limbs and firewood. We are so grateful for his fun attitude and cheeriness which made all the work so much more enjoyable! We will remember him whistling while he worked while making many, many trips with the wheelbarrow! We wish him well in the city and in his job search as he explores more of Canada.

Teuta helped us with our harvest and processing, especially the apples. We made apple crisps and froze and dried the rest. We were thankful for all her slicing skill! We enjoyed her pasta carbonara so much and hope we remember how she made it. It was the best! Teuta helped to maintain the community garden at our Gazebo Park so it will be ready to bloom in the spring. She cut back perennials and made a big compost pile. We had fun in the kitchen cooking up meals and so appreciated all the special things she did for us. The gardens really became beautiful as she mulched and re-established the mandala garden and the paths. It was transformed into a beautiful formal space with all the pathways restored. We had very interesting conversations and learned a bit about France. So willing to do whatever we planned for the day! She really loved our dog and cat and they have been looking around for her since she left! We wish her luck in all her adventures!

Lisa really became a part of the garden hanging out there in her off time too! We really loved working with her on so many different projects. She is the queen of rocks and really worked on removing some super big ones out of the garden beds! She gets the prize for biggest rock found in the garden this year! We loved hearing about life in the many places she has visited and of course are very excited for her new journey with her new partner in life and travel. It was so enjoyable to see everything through her eyes and appreciated her willingness to do any task on the docket for the day. Lisa made all the tasks fun and we miss her laugh and her humor. We wish her all the best in all the travels we talked about and more!

I had a wonderful time on Sam's beautiful property and on Savary! It was a great pleasure to get to know Sam, her friends, other Workaways, and all the locals. I took on various tasks and was also able to contribute my own ideas to find the best solutions. I highly recommend this place! I will try to come back sometime.

I was lucky enough to spend a month with Fernando and Silvia, and the experience couldn’t have been better! They are both very welcoming people, and I immediately felt at home with them in their house (which is beautiful by the way). In my working hours, I got to help in the garden, in the house, and with Fernando’s furniture restoration. I acquired so many new skills, and the work was always really varied and enjoyable. Silvia’s cooking was absolutely incredible, and I was really happy to be able to help her in the kitchen and learn some authentic Italian recipes. In my free time, I enjoyed taking Biaggio (the friendliest dog ever) on walks and exploring the picturesque local area and nearby towns - Fernando and Silvia were even kind enough to bring me with them to visit Perugia! Fernando also lent me his guitar to play, which was lovely of him. Even though I was given one of Silvia’s handmade bracelets and some homemade jam as farewell presents, I was sad to be leaving such a wonderful place and will definitely cherish the memories I made in my time there. Grazie per tutto, Fernando e Silvia!
