NEXT OPENING OCTOBER 2025
Please send us requests writing the exact period you are interested to come.
Of course the activities depend even from the WEATHER FORECAST and of course if the olives are ready to be picked up.
Please contact us only if interested in this period. ( Minimum 7 DAYS) * THANKS*
Sandra will be answering to your requests.
This year we need also help to prepare dinner, so we can decide together who would like to stay with my mom to help her while she prepares dinner, are you available for this activity? of course the volunteer has to be available also for olive picking when required.
This year we will be hosting 5 volunteers ( 2 volunteers have already applied) so we have 3 places remaining.
During lunch time, sandwiches will be prepared for the voluteers and we will eat together under the olives trees whem we have our break,
My name is Leandro and I was born in the Abruzzo region, My wife Sandra, is from the nearby region Molise ( we met at university) but she was born in UK. She will answer to you emails.
Our son Giordano, 17 years old, was born in Rome and likes to speak English with the volunteers. If there isn't school, he also helps during the harvesting activities. My wife Sandra will be helping for the organization of the activity and will come only a few days to meet the volunteers and to organize the pasta 🍝 pizza 🍕 party and go to the 🍷 wine festival that usually takes place the end of October.
We live in a hilly area in the open countryside in the heart of Abruzzo at about 400 meters above sea level. My mom Angela lives there and takes care of the maintenance of the house and gardens with passion and dedication, trying to preserve the local peasant traditions.
We are now opening our profile for
OCTOBER AND beginning of NOVEMBER and inviting volunteers preferable with a car o a caravan as we live in the countryside and it could be useful to move.
ps: THERE ARE NO PUBLIC MEANS (we can come to pick you up at the nearest train station or bus station when you arrive and of course bring you back when you finish your workaway). A car could be necessary if you would like to move around during your days off because public means aren't available as we are in the country side. NO PUBLIC TRANSPORT
WE CAN'T BORROW OUR CAR FOR INSURANCE REASONS.
We can also host for at least 8-10 days but we need to know the EXACT PERIOD to let also other volunteers to participate to our project and to form a team.
If you write during the summer to apply for the harvest please be sure that you can come. It is not fair for other volunteers that would like to come and then I have to say no and then after you cancel 2 days before or not even answering to the emails ( like happened this year 2024)

The whole volunteer group will help together, starting from around 9 am, the working hours are about 5 during a day. During the harvest food will be provided. During the harvest we have a lunch break ( SANDWICHES 🥪 directly under olive trees to eat sandwiches prepared by us in the morning . In the evening sometimes we have our dinner altogether. Sometimes dinners ( home cooked ) have to be prepared by volunteer as we don't sleep near the harvest area. But during helping days, food will be provided. When you have your free time, food will not be provided.
We will give information about the area to visit but during your FREE DAYS we can't stay with you
Usually we put many things in the fridge, we have our own TOMATO SAUCE Mede in August and eggs ( we have hens in another area) .
It is important to keep the room CLEAN during your stay.
There is NO INTERNET CONNECTION .
Very important : the fireplace can't be used for security reasons and is not allowed to smoke in the room, only outside.
Important to know about olive harvesting. The olive harvesting activity depends on the weather forecast. During harvesting if it starts raining we must stop and continue the next day or perhaps after two or three days if the soil is still wet (we especially help during weekends) . So is a flexible activity sometimes we can do tasks 5 hours sometimes more than five or less etc , we are engaged in the olive harvest for the making of organic extra virgin olive oil. - soil cleaning - pruning of fruit trees - cutting of wood for heating - help with tailoring - cleaning of the house and common areas - watering of flowers and vegetables - painting and ordinary maintenance- cutting wood
At the moment we are only looking for volunteers for olive harvesting and some light maintainance around the house.
Le attività da svolgere riguardano:

we are accepting volontaires of all nationalities that al least understand a bit of italian....anche solo Buongiorno va benissimo.... GRAZIE MILLEAcomodação
We live in the COUNTRYSIDE. The big room with a kitchen in the corner where you will be sleeping is on the ground floor and has 3 single beds and has an independent entrance of the cottage. The room is shared with other volunteers. The small bathroom is OUTSIDE
The other place where we can accommodate is an old warehouse, we put two / three beds there. It is an OLD COW STABLE transformed in a dormitory. The room is shared with another volunteers.
There is only one not modern bathroom but clean and it is outside near the trees but it has hot water for the shower 🚿
Important: the heater hasn't to be increased otherwise it will break. It is just a matter of patience to wait half an hour from one shower.
There are also other families that live in this cottage. (please no loud music after 9 pm) It is located in a country side and there is a food shop at half an hour walk (about 3 km) and a butcher that also sells cheese at about 20 minutes walk (about 2 km).
This year we can accomodate directly on the spot where we will be Olive harvesting.
We can host only max 6 volunteers for the period that will share the same room, where there is also the kitchen.
There is a SMALL BATHROOM OUTSIDE. There is a shower with hot water. Important to know about the boiler that heats the water for the shower. When there are volunteers we keep the boiler ON but it is important to not increase the temperature otherwise it will break. Please keep the temperature on 40 degrees. Please Waits 30 minutes before another 🚿 shower. Of course if two persons need hot shower, you must wait 30 minutes. Last year somebody increased the heater to 80 and it was really difficult because it goes with electricity and so we had to pay a lot but if we keep the boiler on 40 degrees and wait half an hour it is better, thank you for your collaboration.
During the harvest at lunch time we will be eating together.
Sometimes at dinner we will be eating together, other times you will have to prepare your meal. Food will be provided for the evening only during harvest days.
At the end of day we leave and we will see each other next day.
Important: as there is neighbor upstairs is not allowed listen to high volume music and arrange parties. Please bring spray against mosquitos.Algo mais...
