Eline and Bob are the most down to earth, warm and welcoming people! As soon as I met them I felt right at home and part of the family! I really enjoyed my time I spent with them, whether we were playing board games, having a movie night or sipping Elines amazing cappuccinos at the kitchen table it was always such a cozy and caring environment. Eline is an intelligent, generous, and genuine human who I really found a good friend in. Bob is a hilarious and vibrant person, who I know I could always rely on for advice or a stressful situation. I can’t wait to come and visit my amazing Dutch family again! Love your Canadian bestie, Ruth xx

I spent a little over a month at Kastanek with the aim of discovering other educational methods. I was not disappointed! Kastanek is much more than a family center, it is a lovely community that welcomed me with open arms as soon as I arrived. My main tasks were to help during English classes and to play/interact with the children during breaks. I also helped out at the kindergarten in the forest and during field trips on Thursdays (“project days”). I had the opportunity to spend two days at the local public school. It was very interesting to be able to compare the two schools, as well as the Czech and French school systems, and to meet other teachers. In my first week, I went on a weekend hiking trip to Mikulov, which was great as I got to meet other parents, get to know the children outside of school and discover a bit of the country. After that, I was often invited to other outings and celebrations. I will always have good memories of St. Martin's Day here—it was magical! I stayed at a partner association, not far from the school. The head of the association is lovely. During the week, I ate delicious homemade meals at the school at lunchtime, and in the evenings and at weekends, I did my own grocery shopping with the budget I was given regularly. I can only recommend this workaway, you will be very well received and you will learn a lot! I hope to come back one day =) Thanks Marketa and everybody at Kastanek - Maëlys

I spent two lovely weeks with Géneieve and Luc. They were incredibly welcoming from day one, and they really made me feel at home. The work was rewarding and their hospitality was heartwarming. Although I spoke only a bit of French, they were patient and took the time to explain things, in English when possible. Géneieve even set out time in the afternoons so that she could teach me. Also I really enjoyed the movie nights organised by Luc, from his extensive collection of great films.

I spent just over two weeks with Eline at the farm and was very happy with workload and treatment! She was incredibly helpful and communicated well about everything that needed to be done on the farm. Looking after the animals was fun and everyday is different making things typically fun along with the others also being hosted. Eline also helped me on a very quick notice so I am grateful that she was able to be generous with that. Thank you very much Eline!

I had an amazing three weeks with Gunvor and Anders. They were always very kind, thoughtful, and supportive. Every morning, I went for long walks with Bella and helped out in their huge and wonderful garden. I was really impressed by their eco-friendly and sustainable approach, I learned a lot from them. One of the things that I enjoyed was cooking. Since Gunvor loves cooking, she had everything you could imagine, all the spices and all the tools! It was always fun to prepare dishes using vegetables from the garden. Sometimes we even tried out new recipes together, which I really enjoyed. I loved the beautiful nature and peaceful atmosphere of their home. Their lovely dog Bella was the cutest, and I will miss her a lot. She always greeted me with a big kiss and so much happiness. And even though shy little Alan the cat didn’t show up often, he was so sweet whenever he did. I strongly recommend everyone to visit and stay here. They made my first Swedish autumn truly wonderful! Tack så mycket för allt!

The family houses a very nice winery with everything you need to feel comfortable and work in the best possible way and has several excellent viewpoints over the wonderful hilly landscape of Tuscany! All members of the family are always open to questions and always ready to find and implement solutions to possible problems of all kinds. A lot of importance is attached to a quiet, honest coexistence and also lived, so that work and leisure time can be done and lived in a very peaceful environment. The work usually takes place in connection with the wine and oil processing or their provision for delivery. Here you get the instructions and can then do the tasks very independently. Comprehensive catering is always provided and you get a delicious hot meal served by the in-house chef on six evenings a week and eat together with the other employees, which rounds off the day with a very pleasant end. There is a direct connection to the area by public transport with own bus stop, which means that Siena (20min) and Florence (1h 20min) can be reached easily and quickly. At this point I would like to express my thanks for this time and thank the family very much for being allowed to work in this warm and peaceful environment and to experience a little more of the wonderful culture of Tuscany!

First Workaway I ever did, beautiful experience! Josie, Barry & Chris are part of the sweetest people you'll ever meet, always here to help you in any way you wish. The place is lovely, cosy & not so far from the village nearby & with a stunning view. Up there, I did all kind of tasks, and even though most of them are quite physical, they are always fair in the amount of work needed and clearly doable. Other than the work in itself, you'll have plenty of free time to visit, walk, rest or doing pretty much anything you'd like. Everyone is always ready to give you a ride if needed! The food is always delicious and you'll clearly have enough to eat at each meal. I can only advise you to come to this place: lovely people, lovely house, relaxing place, fair work & delicious food. Hasta luego to the three of you!

Thanks to Yoshi and Hacienda, we had a truly wonderful 14 days. At first, we were not planning to stay this long, but all of the staff were so kind, and it was so comfortable that we asked Yoshi to extend our stay by almost a week. 😁 On the last day, we felt so sad that we did not want to leave Hacienda, and it really made us feel down. 🥺🥲 But we will definitely see each other again! The days we spent with all of you were truly enjoyable. Every moment we spent at Hacienda has become a precious memory for us. We love Hacienda❣️ Please come visit us in Japan as well☺️

Ellie and Lou stayed with us for 3 weeks. In that time, they completed physical tasks - digging trenches for drainage in the garden (even while it was raining), helping Kim build a new chook house, cleaning house and even a few paint touch ups. They were disciplined with their time - ready to start work at 8am each work day—and applied themselves happily and willingly to wherever and whatever we asked them to do. We shared a picnic by the waterfront to watch the full supermoon rise, and a visit to the gallery with Kim. Lou and Ellie were good to have around, we enjoyed chatting and sharing stories, and we are glad they came to spend time with us. Good luck Ellie and Lou with your new adventures!

I enjoyed helping Kanami-san promoting lesser known yet not less interesting places surrounding Ryugasaki. Kanami-san was very kind and taught me a lot about Ryugasaki's history and more about Japanese culture. I stayed at the share house (a traditional Japanese house) for 2 weeks and since I had a lot of time to myself I could go and visit Tokyo by train. It was a fun, unique experience to have. Thank you again for everything!

My stay at the temple in Agui was wonderful. I enjoyed staying with Shinku-san's family for 3 weeks, sharing daily life and maintaining the temple's garden. The tasks are simple and you can listen to the sounds of nature while accomplishing them. It's a very quiet, peaceful place where you can be by yourself and learn about Japanese Buddhism as well as experiment life in smaller towns of Japan. Ren-san's cooking was delicious and I was happy to discover various dishes of Japanese cuisine. I was happy to converse with her and learn more about Japanese culture. This is a unique experience and I am so grateful I've been hosted by their family. Thank you again for everything!

Fue mi primera experiencia como Workaway y fue muy bonito, tanto por el paraíso donde decidió establecerse como porque Susanna es una persona de buen corazón. ¡¡Como una madre nunca te deja muerta de hambre y sobre todo nunca faltará un postre en la nevera!! I stayed with Mez, Chris, their family, and their pets for a month during my 4th Workaway. It was wonderful to be part of the family while also exploring the surrounding area. Mez took time out of her busy schedule to show me her work, and I'm so glad because going on tours with her all day is an opportunity I wouldn't have had as a regular tourist. Moreover, I'm proud to say that thanks to her family, I can now answer "yes" to the question "Can you cook?" This has greatly boosted my confidence in preparing meals, especially for large families. Thank you all for allowing me to spend such wonderful moments with you!

We truly had the most amazing week ever with Natalie and Ioanna! We had the pleasure of taking care of their litter of kittens and it was such a joy. We also helped with some painting and yard work and got to say hi to the neighboring cows. We biked all over the Lutjewinkel area and got to explore a lot of northern Holland. The accommodations were more than comfortable and we had great meals with Natalie and Ioanna every night - and sometimes other family members too! We wish them all the best with the work on their house and would love to come back one day. Thank you for everything!

Djinn stayed with us for three weeks and he was a very pleasant addition to the household. He played the guitar, cooked very nice pasta and taught us new cardgames. He is a very hard worker and helped with making the garden ready for spring and placing irrigation systems as well as the routine animal care. He is a good communicator and proactive in his work. Also, he is very good with the other volunteers, We can certainly recommend him to other hosts.

Sofie (from UK) and Adam were able to join us for the first 2 weeks of November 2025. They did an amazing job of clearing gorse, wool nightshade etc, from the edges of the stream, that runs through our property. Shame about Adam's unplanned dip in the water 🤦🏼‍♀️lol. Their work is of the highest standard (definetly attention to detail). As well as conquering that large project they helped with adjustments to one of our water tanks, moving chicken houses, weeding the vegetable garden, drenching and vacinating lambs plus grooming some of the young Highland Cattle (the cattle were invited to an event so they had to look their best!) We found out, just as they were leaving us, what an incredible artist Sophie is. She drew a picture (via a photo) of the 3 Highland Cattle (tethered up) that they helped groom. 🥰 Sophie shared some gorgeous Easter Recipes with me (which of course we had to try!) Sophia and Adam are a caring, tidy, considerate couple who were a pleasure to Host. We have hosted alot of Workawayers and we highly recommend this couple. 👌👍

We had such a great time with David! He showed us all around Melrand and the surrounding areas, and we really enjoyed meeting his friends. We helped to clean his house and rearrange furniture. His cooking was incredible as all the food was fresh from his garden. We even got to eat lots of fresh mushrooms from our mushroom walks. We spent the week leading up to Halloween with David and he was kind enough to let us carve his pumpkins! We truly cherished our time spent in Melrand and thank David for everything!

Muazzez and her daughter Alya are people with white heart. They treated me as part of family while I was staying with them. They introduced the Turkish culture to me via meeting their friends and families. It was so amazing to spending time with them. However, they have a busy timetable on the weekday. You will need to find the moment to exchange the language. BUT highly recommended. Thank you so much for hosting me.
