Jason stayed with us for three weeks in October- November and it was so lovely having him here! Jason is an incredibly nice person, a quick learner, independent and super reliable. He was already very experienced with taking care of dogs so it was no problems at all with taking care of our 11 Alaskan huskies. He helped with many other various things during his time here, he changed tires on our cars, helped in the garden, and helped with repairs and projects in the dog yard, both independently and together with us. Jason is very good at keeping things tidy and really helped keeping our kitchen clean, and organised our pantry which was much appreciated! He also cooked some really lovely food. Jason is a really fun and sociable person and connected so well with the whole family. We all had so much fun together! We only wished he could have stayed much longer. We really hope to see him back here soon again!

Sven arrived at the end of August, and he immediately got involved in the winery work, helping us organize all the wine bottles. He is truly a special person: skilled in his work and incredibly cooperative in every way. He stayed with us for two months, brightening our days with his great sense of humor and passion for sports. He was such an important presence, and we sincerely hope to see him back here soon!

J’ai passé une semaine magnifique dans cette famille chaleureuse qui m’a accueillie avec énormément de gentillesse. J’ai adoré passer du temps avec les filles faire des bracelets, jouer à la poupée ou simplement regarder un film ensemble. Grâce à elles, j’écoute même de la K-pop maintenant ! J’ai beaucoup aimé découvrir leur histoire et partager de vrais “happy family dinners” le soir. Catheryne est une maman formidable, très flexible, attentionnée et accueillante. J’ai aussi eu beaucoup de temps libre pour me promener et profiter de la ville à mon rythme. Je leur souhaite vraiment le meilleur ! 🌟

Mac has been an incredible help with the work at our winery. Precise and organized, he carried out excellent work inside the winery facilities. Additionally, he supported us during the bottling operation.Kind, polite, and very friendly, he was both a delightful and valuable presence. We sincerely hope to see him again! Grazie Mac!

This is listed as an "art production workshop" but there was no art going on while I was there. No artist in residence, No workshops. I understand that things change, but I had been very excited about this aspect and was disappoint when it wasn't the case. The art was the number one reason that I had chosen this position over others and I was not told ahead of time that there was no art. The owner had emphasized that I could arrange the work anyway I wanted. However, the gardener was there Mondays and Thursday, and on those days you worked for him on his schedule. On Tuesdays, water was delivered and in the dry season, you need to attend to the water situation all day. My last Tuesday, I attended to the water for 11 hours, and was asked for an update constantly. I worked 8 days, without a day off, because Serioshka made an agreement with the other volunteer that she could leave on the weekend (even though she arrived after me and frankly wasn't doing her part of the work). I was not consulted about this, so ended up working more days than agreed. I also didn't meet the owner until I'd been there a couple days (even though she'd said she would pick me up at the bus station), so the duties were not clear to me. I ended up doing far more work than intended. It was not appreciated. When I did meet her, she borrowed 40 pesos and didn't pay me back. Serioshka texted me several times a day, all day, with things to do and check on. I felt like I was on an electronic leash. I had not known about the several surveillance cameras and was uncomfortable with being watched all the time. If I'd known about them ahead of time, I would not have come. The cabins were rented out on the weekends, and unless you leave (which I could not do) or hide, the guests were constantly asking for your assistance. The guests seemed to think I worked for them. I ended up cleaning up the kitchen and fire pit after them. In theory, that wasn't my job. However, the housekeeper didn't once clean the kitchen while I was there. I shared this kitchen, so didn't want to cook in a dirty one. Plans with Serioshka kept changing and while I tried to be flexible, it was frustrating. I finally reached my limit. On the final day, she had told me to meet her at 7:30a and to be ready ON TIME as she had a very busy day. I was ready. She came at 8:30a, with no explanation, and started yelling at me without even saying hello. I'd worked hard. I will not be yelled at like a child. I'd done more than agreed and she clearly wasn't happy with my work. I saw no reason to continue. I calmly gave her the key and told her I was leaving. Her response was "we can talk about this later." We did talk later, but it was clear that nothing would change. She said she was "not a sweet" person, so not to expect her to be nice. I didn't feel she'd lived up to her promises. I wasn't going to work with someone who yelled at me, constantly checked up on me, and kept changing our agreements.I realize that this is a difficult time in her life, and I tried to be sympathetic, but I can't allow someone to treat me badly. That being said, the place is lovely. I enjoyed the dogs, though they got out frequently and bark constantly. I like working in gardens and it could have been a peaceful experience.

My experience at the ranch was a blast. Stephanie is a really sweet soul. She provides so much love to her animals an treat them with great respect. She takes great pleasure to explain and teach about how to communicate with her horses. There you will be surrounded of nature, animals and be well taking care of. You will be able to enjoy the nice town of San Cristóbal during the weekend. I am really greatful for the 3 weeks I spent there. Missing this place, people and animals. With love

I stayed with Junko and Frank for a little over three weeks and their house truly felt like a home. My tasks included weeding, planting and general flower gardening. During my stay, they hosted an open garden day, and I helped with taking orders, handling payments, and making coffees. I really enjoyed my time there. The property is large, and you can often see kangaroos and occasionally other wildlife. In my free time, I liked walking around the garden and picking flowers to create flower arrangements. Their five dogs are the sweetest, and you can really feel how much love they share with their animals. The room and bathroom were very clean. The kitchen is well equipped, and you can use the pool and tennis court whenever there are no guests. I’m truly grateful for my time with them. I learned a lot, felt very welcome, and left with wonderful memories. I couldn’t recommend this place and these hosts more.

We are eternally grateful to Enzo; he was an excellent volunteer. He has a great character, is very cooperative, and has great construction skills. He finished a construction project and it turned out beautifully! He is truly very skilled and intelligent. He was also a great help around the house. He will always be welcome back! Sojammm!!!

I just did my first volunteering experience with Mati and Moon, and it was amazing ! They’re such a friendly, open minded couple you can talk about anything with them. They’ve got two adorable little babies, and their home in the Spanish mountains near the colorful town of Villajoyosa is just beautiful. The team was really close and welcoming, and I was able to make connections I never expected. I’m really grateful for the experience ❤️

Although her stay was short, it was truly enriching to have Noor with us. We worked together in the hot shop and had a really good time - she was thoughtful, helpful wherever she could be, and brought a very positive energy into the place. We’d be happy to welcome her back anytime.

Thomas is a really nice guy, very motivated and special. He help me a lot to remove the paint in one area of the house, to clean, organice, and even to cook. Thanks to you, I learned so much about how to communicate better, and you have great skills in helping others. I know you're going to be an excellent teacher and colleague, and I hope you can come visit us soon. We're waiting for you back in Valparaíso! Thank you so much for all your help! 😊

Jordan and Teresa spend about a week with us. We very much enjoyed having them here. They helped with various things and did a wonderful job. They were also good company. We can really recommend them as workawayers!

The experience was truly satisfying: Josephine, Berry, and Chris are an open and welcoming family! The accommodation was also great; the room had everything listed in the profile and was clean and comfortable. The food was always plentiful and very good. We stayed in Tivenys for 10 days; during our time there, we mainly picked olives in preparation for winter. The work was enjoyable and not stressful at all. In summary, we highly recommend this experience to anyone who wishes to spend time with friendly, interesting, and open-minded people! Thank you again, Josie, Berry, and Chris! Guillerme stayed with us for a week. He was a great help in the garden, which we really appreciated. He connected well with other community members, and it was nice to see these bonds form. Wishing you all the best!

Stine is a wonderful person with a great "get ´r done" attitude! Very easygoing, stable and non-dramatic! She has done so much for us and was always happy to try something new. She never forgot anything, very nice to know that she took care of the animals carefully every day. Also I trusted her with my own horse, she took him out on walks by herself and it went very well! Already looking forward to meet her again <3

It was a really lovely time at Rod’s and Ingrid’s place. We helped with renovating the barn, worked on a few small outdoor building projects, and showed them how to cook some Italian dishes. Sleeping in the camper was very cozy, and we’re really grateful that we also had the chance to try surfing. In the evenings, when the kids were asleep, we enjoyed talking about different topics while sharing some chocolate or chips. We also visited some beautiful places together in Lofoten, and they showed us some mountains we could hike up.

I stayed nearly 2 months at Yascha and Janina’s Finca. It was my first experience but I don’t think it can get better. Beautiful place nice and relaxing place. Nice little towns to visit nearby. We made a lot of things around the house which is looking good! Great tent and bed! Not much to say about the nearby roosters but that another story! I will come and visit one day to see how it all came out! Bye guys and thank you very much!!

We spent our first Workaway adventure at Julie’s place for about two weeks. Most of the work took place in the mornings, feeding and taking care of the horses and walking the dog. For the rest of the day, we had the opportunity to explore the beautiful nature around the farm. We really enjoyed our conversations on different topics and the exchange of cultural knowledge. Our bed was very comfortable, and the various dishes we got to try were delicious. Thank you for letting us create such wonderful memories in Norway! A big thanks as well to Maja for showing us around the island and the city.

Wow, my two months with Patrizia were truly unforgettable! Cevio in Ticino is breathtaking : it is surrounded by beautiful nature and every day there felt full of life. Horses!!!!! Riding and training Pioggia, Mattis and Luna was such a joy — they’re majestic, calm, and so well cared for. Patrizia is an amazing teacher, and her love for horses is contagious. Her lifestyle inspired me : mindful, connected to the land, and full of respect for nature. Patrizia’s humour, warmth, and openness made every day memorable. She is attentive, patient, and full of positive energy. The food was incredible, all fresh from the garden and I loved how resources were used with care. I have learned a lot ! I also helped in the fields, taking care of weeds and assisting with other tasks, and I always felt encouraged and supported to do my best. With Patti and other workwayers we hiked, biked, and even went to concerts together — she’s a talented musician and shared so much about African music and culture. I learned about Gambia, Mali, Senegal, and beyond, and our endless conversations were so inspiring. I leave with a happy heart, new skills, and memories I’ll never forget. Thank you, Patrizia, for your warmth, laughter, and generosity — this stay was pure magic! 🌿🐎🎶 P.S. Hope you will get your “Islander” soon enough!
