Our two weeks here with Suzy and Jon was nothing short of life-changing. This was our first-ever experience on a permaculture farm and we couldn’t have asked for a more inspiring introduction. Suzy and Jon are absolute legends – the kind of people who have lived out some of the wildest, most peak-life adventures, yet also embody the beauty of slowing down, appreciating simple moments and truly caring for the land they call home. We laughed more here than we have in ages, ate some of the best meals and picked up so many new skills. We even built a fence for the first time - thanks to Suzy & Jon who were such patient, thoughtful teachers throughout. Living alongside kangaroos and wallabies, helping out in the garden, and experiencing what it means to live off-grid was unforgettable. One of the highlights was watching the documentaries they’ve been part of and realising we were living right in the middle of their story. And of course, we’ve now adopted their “shiny things” routine into our own daily lives – a tiny ritual that somehow makes everything better. If you’re looking for an authentic, grounding, joy-filled Workaway experience, this is the place. Suzy and Jon changed the way we see the world, and we left with full hearts, new skills and memories we’ll carry for a lifetime!

We had the most incredible one-week stay with the legendary Susanne in the Blue Mountains. From the moment we arrived, she welcomed us with open arms, wonderful dinners and the kind of warmth that makes you feel instantly at home. We’re still in awe of the energy this woman has – she’s always doing something cool, whether it’s hosting her radio show / edible garden trails or bringing people together with her amazing community spirit. What really made this week special were the conversations we had. We went from sharing hilarious stories to receiving genuine words of wisdom and left with full hearts (and full stomachs. Yums!) Susanne also gave us a beautiful glimpse into day-to-day life in the Blue Mountains – her routines, her community (including a singing community!), her love for the land. It’s something we’ll remember for a long time. If you get the chance to stay with her: go. You’ll learn, you’ll laugh, and you’ll leave feeling inspired. Thank you, Susanne – you’re truly one of a kind!!

Had a amazing time and Em and Reinhardt's place ,their hospitality was outstanding and coupled with the location felt like a valley retreat. Always making sure I was enjoying my stay and the jobs I was doing . Between squid fishing learning to play backgammon and building a mountain bike trail for their son was a great experience. Will be happy to come back and help out around the property anytime.

Hello workawayers, Ive joined Tree in November since he started again the eco tourism project in Poro Island. It was a very good experience, the work is simple and in the middle of beautiful waterfalls and nature. Tree is a calm, nice and helpfull host, who is listening to our thoughts, concerns or questions. He always stays positive despite the challenges (a typhoon for exemple). If you think about joining the project, you should know that Tree started hosting just this month, but he has a lot of experience with volunteers, and the place of stay has all the basics you need and a lot of potential as well, so some help to maintain the ecodome and improve it might be great. Anyway if you want to be in the middle of the countryside in the Phillipines, appreciating the nature and drinking fresh coconut water this place is for you.

Anamika did an excellent job spending her time helping us and our kitties at our shelter in Hoi An. All the staff and other volunteers really got along well with Ana and working alongside her. She exceled in all the jobs we gave her and always wanted to learn more. She is so very gentle with the animals and just a pleasure to be around. We all highly recommend Ana to any workaway host! Ana, thank you so much for your time with us and we hope we will see you again one day!

We loved having Aunty Tara stay with us! Tara was our first experience at having Workaway or an au pair and she made it a very easy transition for us. From our first conversation up until we picked her up from the train station Tara was relaxed and calm. As soon as we got home she engaged with my son immediately and shared his excitement and enthusiasm for monster trucks and hot wheels. My son warmed up to her quickly and Aunty Tara always made things more exciting than mummy haha. Tuterangi has asked about Aunty Tara everyday since she left. We wish her all the best with her future travels.

Rae speaks and reads Chinese so well that it impressed us a lot. Students had a great time in her cultural presentations. Students at my school enjoyed making fairy bread with her. Rae made the delicious Anzac biscuits for elementary school students. They all love them. We had a great time with Rae and she's always willing to help. It's a pity that my kids are shy and care more about their self images, so they can't have a lot of interaction with Rae. Anyway, thanks for Rae's company and great help.

It was a joy to welcome Alessandro to help us with our build in Mt Lawley. From the moment he arrived he was helpful and relaxed in our company and completely at ease with our crazy ever-flexible schedule. Alessandro was super-diligent with the work he did and he took initiative too. We highly recommend him to other hosts and we wish him all the best for his future adventures. Lots of love from Linda and Ian ✨

I stayed at the hostel for just under two weeks, but I had the opportunity to make the most of everything the environment, the people and the place had to offer. Shelly and her family live on site and were always willing to help and share. The concept of business and profit is secondary to them. Their way of seeing and experiencing things and people, where exchange and hospitality come first, is reflected positively in everything. As well as being part of their family, as volunteers you will immediately feel part of a group of friends, sharing a room and spending your days with others, and sometimes even with guests. Shifts are flexible and involve the usual hostel tasks: reception and hospitality, making beds and tidying rooms, and some routine cleaning. The area is fantastic, with lots of day and night life (Caribbean and tourist) in the small towns, located between beaches, jungles and national parks. It is also just a few kilometres from the border with Panama, which you can visit on your days off. Nearby, there is also a village where you can visit waterfalls, meet indigenous families and learn about their chocolate culture, as well as one of the country's best-known animal rescue centres. The hostel itself is located almost inside the jungle, and with the right weather and luck, you may see various animals inside or near the building (red-eyed frogs, possums, monkeys, agoutis, sloths, etc.). I don't think I need to add anything else, draw your own conclusions :)

Presley is authentic, intelligent and a genuine all rounder in her skills. She helped us out generously and capably with child care, garden work and domestic help. The kids connected with her really well, she did a literal ton of yard work picking up sticks and leaves, kept the kitchen organised, the house tidied and the clothes sorted and folded, while being practical and good company all the while. Thanks Presley!

Steffie was a pleasure to have with us for a month. She was helpful inside and out of the home. She took care of the gardens and kept our home very clean. She was very open to learning about our indigenous culture and ceremonial ways. She never complained and did all she was asked with a good positive attitude. We would gladly recommend her wherever she goes.

Paul was very dedicated to helping out wherever needed and open to learning about our cultural ceremonies. He was always respectful and very reliable. We appreciated his light hearted nature and positive attitude no matter what he was doing. He never complained about anything and was a great help in the kitchen as well as around the property. We were sad to see him leave after a month. He will be a wonderful asset to any home where he ends up on his travels.

I LOVED my two months here! Anita is a wonderful host. The cats are a delight. Come prepared to spend time with cats and relax. If you have trouble sitting still this is not the place for you. If you are lucky Anita will share her delicious baked goods with you.

It was a pleasure hosting Robin. Her support was efficient and the help appreciated. Communication was easy and her positive attitude inspiring. The cats loved having her around. She talked and played with them and they in turn responeded to her special touch. She's definitely a cat 'mom'. Thanks for time spent with us.

The time I spent with Adrian is something I’ll remember for a long time (even though it was just not-full 3 days). Thanks to him I got to try many new things — I saw how he takes care of the forests around Bergen, checked out his farm, went snorkeling in the ocean for the first time in my life (!!), and even joined him for some fishing (with a harpoon he built himself!) - just to name a few (in just 3 days!). I had an awesome time just talking with Adrian and getting to know him. He’s a super friendly and interesting guy with tons of cool and crazy experiences (and I still feel like I only "scratched the surface" of knowing him). He’s someone who’s curious about the world, knows what he wants in life, and actually goes for it — something I really admire and respect. Adrian took great care of me — he explained everything I asked about, was super patient and easygoing (sorry man, next time I’ll be faster with sorting and picking the potatoes!). I can honestly recommend him as a host. I’m sure we’ll meet again and make an amazing film together :) Adrian — thanks again, and see you next time!

We stayed at Akke’s place for over 2 weeks and we had such a great time. Akke is a great person and she made us feel very welcome in her house! Her garden is a real piece of paradise and it was a pleasure to help her out , especially during springtime as everything is growing so fast. The surrounding area of Tutukaka coast is really beautiful and Akke is a great guide, always ready to give out advice. She would always make sure that we had time to go and explore the area when our work was done and on the weekends. The tiny house is very confortable and it is really great to have such a nice accommodation. Akke is also a great cook and we are already missing her delicious meals. We loved our time here and would gladly come back! We especially loved our morning coffee breaks and all the great discussions we had with her. Thanks a lot for a marvelous stay 😍

Manja and Allan were my first hosts here in Canada and it was absolutely amazing! I felt welcome and at home right from the start. It was fun working with them, and I learned so much about tulips, it was great! I would choose them as my first hosts again anytime. Also, they gave me a ride to the train station whenever I wanted, I was really grateful for that. I really wish I would've stayed longeras I had a wonderful time there.
