Having Albane y Tristan at home was truly an excellent experience. They arrived at a key moment, just after my move, when everything was still in complete disorder, and from the very first day they jumped in with incredible energy and a super positive attitude. They helped me enormously with organizing the house, arranging spaces, cleaning, moving things, setting up the kitchen, and leaving every room functional and harmonious. They are very responsible, detail-oriented, tidy, and always willing to go the extra mile without being asked. You can tell they enjoy teamwork and have a great ability to adapt to whatever is needed at any moment. Beyond their great work, living with them was a pleasure: they are respectful, communicative, calm, polite, and they bring a really nice energy into the house. Talking with them is a joy, and their way of seeing the world enriches the cultural exchange that one looks for in a volunteer experience. I appreciate them very much and I am truly grateful for everything they did. They left the house far better than they found it, and their help in such a chaotic moment made my life so much easier. I recommend Albany and Tristan with total confidence to any host. They are excellent volunteers and even better people. The doors of our home will always be open for them. It was a pleasure our exchange with Poppy and Liam. They were enthusiast, hard workers, always with good energy, easygoing. They took well care of their casita and Poppy clean it well. I highly recommend them.

I had a great time staying with Junko! She is very kind, caring, and always makes sure you feel comfortable. The atmosphere at her place is very relaxed, and the work was completely manageable. Around 15 hours a week in the garden, not difficult at all. There are five adorable dogs who bring so much joy to the days. Even though the place is in the middle of nowhere, it’s only a 10-minute walk to the bus stop, and from there you can get pretty much anywhere. I met wonderful people during my stay and truly had an amazing experience. Thank you, Junko, for a great stay. I can definitely recommend this Workaway!

I stayed one week at Trisha’s house and had a great time. I usually worked between 8 and 11 o’clock, so I had plenty of freetime in the afternoons to explore the city. Furthermore I helped during an Open Studio event which was very interesting. Trisha’s place is lovely and located really close to public transport services and the Central Station of Sydney. Trisha herself is extremely kind and was always willing to help me if had any problems. I felt very comfortable throughout my stay! Thank you so much for having me - I would love to come back!

It was very last minute that I came walking in to ask about a workaway, but I've had such a warm and wonderful experience with dear Marisol, Tobi, Emilia and all of the lovely guests! You're in my heart!! 🌞

Miguel stayed with us for three weeks starting in late September, and he was an outstanding, engaged, and highly resourceful Workawayer. His time here was truly a pleasure for our entire family. Miguel showed immense dedication to the development of the second Arboretum. He quickly grasped new concepts and was keen to learn and perfect techniques such as proper planting and transplanting of trees. He embraced diverse tasks, from creating the rock garden with conifers to the heavy-duty work of transporting mulch and cutting grass—he particularly enjoyed his time operating the tractor! He was reliable and always found the right rhythm to ensure the work was completed efficiently. Miguel brought a thoughtful and curious energy to our home. He was a natural fit, joining us for local cultural outings—the book fair, the photography exhibition, and the plant fair—showing a great appreciation for the region. He contributed positively to the lively conversations around the table with Agustín, Sylvie, Aymeric, and Mathew. His interest in our hobbies, knowledge, and life experiences was truly appreciated. Miguel was also excellent at balancing work and downtime, making the most of the proximity to Toulouse while also enjoying the local trails and forest near Pibrac. He was highly respectful of our home and schedule. Miguel is a hardworking, intelligent, and culturally aware volunteer who is a credit to the Workaway community. He leaves a project better than he found it and is genuinely interested in the people he meets. We sincerely hope he returns one day to see the maples in their autumn colors and the development of the trees he planted. Thank you for everything, Miguel!"

Mathew spent two weeks with us in early October, and we absolutely loved having him! He was an exceptional Workawayer and became a cherished part of our household during his stay. Mathew proved to be an incredibly dedicated and capable helper. He was essential to our efforts, splitting his time between maintaining the main garden/forest and providing excellent support at the Arboretum. He tackled every task with enthusiasm, whether it was planting, watering, cutting grass, or taking on more complex DIY projects like building a table and a bridge. He even showed great skill and enjoyment while operating the tractor! We were so impressed by his genuine interest in learning, particularly his eagerness to master tree planting techniques. Mathew approached every challenge as a learning opportunity. Beyond the work, Mathew was sociable, respectful, and fit in perfectly with our family atmosphere, as well as the other volunteer. We enjoyed our shared meals, film nights, bike rides, and walks. He quickly integrated into our daily routine, making the group dynamics easy and fun. Mathew is a thoughtful, positive, and hardworking individual. We highly recommend him to any host looking for a reliable and engaging volunteer. He left a lasting positive impression on Agustín, Sylvie, Aymeric, and the entire project. Thank you, Mathew! We wish you the best of luck with your future adventures!"

Our time at Brunette Hotel was lovely. The staff were all friendly, made us feel welcome and were easy to work with. The working hours were as listed on the profile, occasionally the five hours was split if the hotel was busy. The tasks were as to be expected in a hotel, for example preparing rooms for guests, general cleaning, etc. All tasks were explained well and the necessary equipment was provided. The hotel has a lovely courtyard which we were able to use in our non-working hours. As well as having access to the kitchen to prepare our meals. The location of the hotel is great for exploring Santa Ana. Would recommend this volunteering opportunity! :)

What a fab experience for my girst work away. I went on a Roadtrip with the guys from Vancouver to Puerto Escondido, which was completely unreal! I was their Crew chef on board and we had the most fun going shopping for groceries and stopping in the most amazing places to cook over open flame. After the road trip, I am still enjoying their company on their building site where they are building their dream home/hostel. Their location is fab, just a short walk to everything you could need. Puerto is beautiful place and its not far at all to the beach, where we have been going to enjoy watching the sunset most days. The lads are great craic, kind and respectful. I never felt unsafe and appreciated Phil wnd the others always looking out for me. 100% would recommend!

ich war zwei wochen hier in diesem Wunderschönen Hostel in Montañita und habe es sehr genossen! Das Hostel an sich ist sehr schön und in einer Tollen Lage, wirklich nur 2 minuten vom Strand! Nico und die anderen Volunteers waren super nett und wir saßen viele Abende zusammen und haben wenige Stunden am Tag mit guter Musik zusammen gearbeitet:) Ich würde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen! Super Ambiente!

I stayed here for 6 weeks (beginning Oct - mid Nov), which is honestly too short; I wish I had stayed longer. This Workaway completely exceeded all my expectations; it was so incredible. Mauro and Laura are so sweet, and they really take the time to get to know you and welcome you to their space. I learned a lot from both of them about their ways of handling horses and lifestyles. Mauro is also a veterinarian, and I got to watch and assist him with some of his work, which was so interesting and amazing to see. On average, I rode more than once a day, through the beautiful surrounding landscapes. I would say the days are quite long, starting at 9 (sometimes 8, depending on what ride you will go on) and ending around 18/19:00, but for me, I never required or wanted a shorter working day. It didn’t even feel much like work, as I enjoyed everything there, and the time flew by. Tasks ranged from training (riding out with the horses), assisting in rides with tourists, cleaning and greasing the tack, some basic barn maintenance, and helping in the house. I got one resting day a week, but in my last week, I didn’t even use it, as I wanted to participate in as much as I could and enjoy everything. You eat lunch together with them every working day, their cooking is really great and healthy! You eat breakfast and dinner by yourself, which is completely fine, as you have a private kitchen equipped with everything, and the supermarket (which has everything you need) is really close. You also have your own bathroom and sleeping area, which is very nice and cute! They provide a bike for you, which is also very useful, and you can use the laundry machine in their house. They ride more western style, which I had never done before (I ride English), but Mauro and Laura taught and helped me, and I was able to pick it up very quickly. Their horses are so wonderful, they clearly care very deeply for the well-being of their animals, and their dogs and cat are also so cute and sweet. Riding all the horses was such a joy; they all have their little perks, which makes it all the more fun getting to know all of them. It’s located on the outer part of Barra de Valizas (like a 15min walk and 5min bike to the centre), which is a very cute beach village. Outside the season (that being their summer), it’s quite empty and quiet, but I really enjoyed the peace. If you are able to go on the rides with tourists, you will also see the places surrounding Barra de Valizas, which are also all very beautiful, and Mauro knows a lot about all of it. On my free days, I would usually chill at the beach. Overall, I really really recommend volunteering here, you will learn so much, do a lot while also enjoying the peace and beautiful nature. I am definitely planning on coming back! Thank you, Mauro and Laura, for making this such a special experience for me!!

Wir waren etwa zwei Wochen bei Matteo und hatten eine wunderschöne Erfahrung. Der Ort ist einfach magisch, sehr abgeschieden, dafür kann man Schildkröten und bei Sonnenaufgang Delfine und Waale am Strand beobachten. Die Aufgaben variierten (streichen, Bau einer Sauna, aufräumen, malen). Aufgrund des Hurricanes sind einige Facilities im Wiederaufbau. Matteo ist ein wundervoller, witziger Mensch mit einem strahlenden Lächeln und beeindruckender Begeisterungsfähigkeit. Er ist sehr bemüht, dass sich die Volunteers wohl fühlen. Oft wird gemeinsam gegessen und an den freien Tagen haben wir gemeinsame Unternehmungen (z.B. mit dem Boot und zum bioluminescence Plankton) gemacht. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen! Danke für die tolle Zeit Matteo!!

Ewald and Ben were great hosts, very accommodating and allowed me to have my own creative ideas flow. the land is incredible set in the heart of nature with plenty of wildlife. work consisted mostly of DIY and remodelling of a caravan that is on site for accommodation, this was a fun project which now looks amazing. definitely recommend this Workaway.

I am finally sitting down to write this veeery late review about my stay at Miran's hostel in february 2025! I was welcomed there by him and Maja for three weeks last winter, and what can I say, I will definitley never forget that experience! As you can read in all the other reviews, Miran is one of the strongest, craziest, most unique, generous and memorable characters you will meet in the Balkans and probably in the whole world. You will come to understand very quickly how, beneath the first layer of craziness and strong opinions, he is a very decent man, that you can definitley trust. It was a real pleasure to help at his hostel: the work was very easy, you just need to be there when no one else from the family can be at the reception, help Maja with beds and laundries, and in general just mind that everything is in order, provide a friendly atmosphere for the guests, and that's mostly it! In exchange, you will feel genuinely welcomed in their family (I enjoyed so much whenever Miran's son came around to have a little chat!), get very nice food, and to stay in a very beautiful city. The whole family is so nice, you will just be happy to be there and help. I miss my days there so much, and I can't wait to come around again one day, either as a volunteer or a guest. All the best for your life Miran, and thank you so much for everything!

I spent a week at Aaron and his son's house. They have an adorable little dog. The house is well located, close to everything we needed on foot. The house is comfortable, and I had everything I needed. Aaron is a very welcoming and easy-going person. He was attentive to ensure my stay went smoothly. He knows his area well and suggests walks and places to visit. Aaron is interested in many subjects and is an engaging and interesting person. I don't speak English, so we used an audio translator for our conversations. Aaron has a wealth of knowledge, and it would have been a pleasure to continue discussing all the topics we covered together. Thank you for your hospitality. I wish you a wonderful winter. Ada was an amazing host and an incredible Spanish teacher. We worked with her on the garden over our two week stay. The work was very satisfying and rewarding. We stayed in her airbnb house which was such a cute space and has a gorgeous patio that looks out over the lake. Ada was so warm and welcoming and we feel very grateful for our experience at her Workaway. Muchas gracias Ada!

I am finally sitting down to write this veeery late review about my stay in Star Grad in february 2025! I spent there about 15 days. Agnes was leaving to Paris a few days after I arrived and we didn't have much time to know each other, so the absolute protagonist of my stay there was Zoran. He's such a great person, now that I am going back to those days to write this review all the memories are coming back and I still feel so happy and grateful I had a chance to share his life on the island. At that point it was three of us: me, him and another volunteer, and we had so many great talks, the atmosphere was so relaxed and positive, a real blessing. It was kind of a new challenge for him at that time, since usually it's Agnes cooking for the volunteers, but he did great, both me and the other guy were so impressed by his first meals already turning ut so good ahaha It was amazing to listen to Zoran stories about his and Agnes' lives, both of them are some of the most unique people I met, they have such a strong and rich character, and you can tell by the amount of great things they managed to achieve. Again, both of them are great people, and you will totally agree if you get the chance to stay and help at their place. At first Zoran may seem a little bit crazy (and he surely is ahaha), but in a very short time you will also realise how much of a wise man he is as well. They had tons of volunteers since they started hosting, so they are quite experienced in the matter. You will always enjoy the work, the atmosphere is very positive, and you will never feel overworked, just enough to feel satisfied and hungry at the end of the morning. Plus you can learn sooo much from them. Unfortunately I was only staying for a short time, but the other volunteer, who was there for some months already, was learning so much about natural building (both Zoran and Agnes have so much to teach about that). I will not talk about the beauty of the island, the charm of Stari Grad and its people and the general quality of life there, you will see for yourselves! In general I wish I could have stayed longer and helped them more! But who knows, maybe one day I'll come around again, I definitely hope so! Thanks A LOT again Agnes and Zoran

I spent about a month at the house in LP and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Sully and Benjamin. Sully is a wonderful child, and I will miss her very much. She is so fun and an excellent helper in the kitchen! I always looked forward to cooking and baking with her. Ben is a kind and reasonable host; I never felt overworked or overwhelmed when I was looking after Sully. The area that the house is in is absolutely stunning and peaceful. I enjoyed going out on walks most days.
