We stayed for two weeks in Ruboni and helped with different tasks. Ruboni and the area around are directly at the Rwenzori Mountains, which is a stunning place to volunteer. Isaac is such a friendly person, who helped us to get to know the culture and the people. We got the possibility to help with social media, improving the village and food tour, go for a forest walk, doing a big coffee tour and visited different schools. Thank you Isaac for the opportunity to get to know the community and to learn more about the culture from the Bakonzo people up here in the mountains! As a volunteer you need to know, that the live here is slow, which is a good possibility to slow down during your stay. Especially in the evenings when it's dark, you're gonna have a lot of time for yourself. So be sure to be okay with that, since there is not much going on in the evenings. So stay with friends, take a book or have something else to do during this time. All in all we had two amazing weeks up here and would recommend this place! We have loved 🥰 having Rio be with us here. He is a lovely artist and beginning craftsperson, and successfully made a picnic table, bookshelf and a king-sized bed from the native Totara wood we had milled from our land last year, all in a brief stay, plus helped with a couple of jobs in the garden (preparing ground for potatoes and rainbow corn) and the willow plantation and energetic play with our two boys. We would absolutely recommend his inspiring creative energy to other hosts. 🌈

Claude is a very warm person who always tries to help people. His house is so clean and well organized that I felt comfortable and relaxed. It looked like an art gallery. I helped him with cooking, cleaning and some computer stuff. I feel like I did nothing compared to what he provided to me. He helped me traveling and gave me advices. He drove me 3 times to Ottawa so that I could see all the places. Although the days were cloudy, I was able to see the beautiful snow in the forest. He also let me watch movies with his TV. I really enjoyed the movie time after supper. He even gave me his snowshoes for my next trip to Montreal and he dropped me off in Montreal when he was heading to Quebec city. I really appreciate him. Overall I had a great time at his place. I enjoyed our conversation and I got a good rest. I'd like to come back some day in the summer or fall next time!

Xenia war sechs Wochen bei uns und jeder Tag davon war ein Geschenk! Xenia hat viele Fähigkeiten und hat mich unglaublich unterstützt (sie hat Hunde Katzen Pferde versorgt, gerne und gut gekocht, auch den Kindern hat es sehr gut geschmeckt - und wer Kinder hat, weiß das sehr zu schätzen :-), sie fährt gut Auto, sie reitet super, sie ist super organisiert und verlässlich, ...) - was mich am meisten beeindruckt war, war Xenias selbständiger Zugang zu neuen Herausforderungen: Kenne/ kann ich das noch nicht? Dann lerne ich es eben! Und wenn es mir keiner zeigt, dann bringe ich es mir eben selber bei! Aufgeben gibt es nicht! :-) Liebe Xenia, Du wirst Deinen Weg machen - und hoffentlich führt er auch mal wieder bei uns in Ungarn vorbei! Bis dahin kann sich jeder Host glücklich schätzen, der/die Deine Anfrage bekommt!

I spent two incredible weeks at the guesthouse, and it was by far one of the most enriching and valuable experiences I’ve ever had. I stayed in a cozy 8-bed shared dorm with other guests whom I was fortunate to connect with. My tasks varied from helping with check-ins and check-outs to changing bed sheets and general housekeeping: it never really felt like work, but rather like spending amazing time with a warm and welcoming family. Among my favorite moments were the famous 'Family Dinners' held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Dinner was prepared and offered to all the guests on the outside patio, filled with laughter and music. We sang karaoke and shared stories: it was pure magic. I will never forget everything that JP, Cyren, and the Aunt did for me. I will definitely be back and highly recommend that any Workawayers stop by this place. Khawp-jai beautiful family <3

I had a wonderful time working with Julia on the land .It gave me great pleasure getting stuck in with helping to finish off a building project .Something I've never done before so its always great to learn new tasks . Julia is such a beautiful soul to be around and my accomadation and food was super. If you get the opportunity to come here you will not be disappointed:)

Julian was an exceptional volunteer from start to finish. He was reliable, proactive, and always carried a positive attitude. Whether it was daily tasks, helping guests, keeping the place organized, or jumping in wherever needed, he consistently went above and beyond. His communication was excellent, and he adapted quickly to our routines. Julian brought great energy to the team, treated everyone with respect, and truly cared about contributing to the space. We were genuinely grateful to have him with us and would welcome him back anytime. Highly recommended to any host looking for someone responsible, hardworking, and easy to be around!

Gavin stayed over with us for a week during his tour of NZ and we appreciated his company. He is easy to be with, great communicator, loves to cook and it was good to see him adventure around Marlborough.

We had a great stay with Stéphanie! She was incredibly welcoming and kind from the moment we arrived. The place is really lovely, you feel comfortable right away, and we ate very well throughout our stay. The work was fairly simple and always done in a good atmosphere. In the beginning, she spoke slowly and clearly so we could understand all the instructions, which really helped us settle in. And her cakes… absolutely amazing we were honestly looking forward to snack time every day! Thank you again to Stéphanie for this wonderful experience, we definitely recommend staying with her!

Isabelle set her mind and action to the project I offered her- preparing and painting the old bus. Due to timing I was very busy (and a bit stressed) with visiting tradesmen (solar panels now wired and operational, earthworks for dispersal beds, moving garden sheds etc) so had to leave Isabelle doing most of it on her own. She did a beautiful job. She was also respectful of my mother’s privacy and space needed as the Tiny home is tiny! We managed a few beach and town trips together but Isabelle was happy to walk to the beach and spend a lot of her free time walking in nature. I wish her all the best for future travels and study.

I had a wonderful and relaxed time with Maira and Steph. It was my first workaway experience and I couldn’t have wished for a better one. They put a lot of effort into making me feel at home and were super open, flexible and very warm from the beginning. Although the room is in a container next door, daily life takes place in their house. Maira is an amazing cook and Steph bakes very tasty sourdough bread, so I was always provided with great food. ;) The tasks were very varied, which made everything super interesting. We worked with bamboo, weeded in the garden, harvested vegetables, built the pool, brewed beer, repaired a wall, etc. Even though I wasn’t there for long, I could join them on several activities, whether it was going to the local market with street food or to climbing and kung fu. Definitely a huge recommendation!! Thank you both for the great time together 🫶🏽

Les recomiendo mucho esta experiencia. Marta es una gran anfitriona y cocina delicioso. El lugar es perfecto, cálido (1.800 msnm), un poco retirado del pueblo, lo que permite silencio rural, y a la vez se puede ir a pie o en transporte local, con lo cual puede uno ver almacenes, restaurantes, y hacer compras si se necesita. El internet funciona perfectamente. El cuarto es cómodo y hay la mezcla entre independencia y compañía. Estuve 5 días, en los cuales ayudé a hacer compras, sembrar, alistar la tierra, pintar paredes y una reja exterior, lavar platos, en fin, tareas necesarias para mantener bien el espacio, y justas en un horario flexible según el clima y las necesidades.

Estuve 2 semanas aportando al proyecto de Nicolás. Le ayudé haciendo orden, aseo y pintando. adentro y afuera de la casa. La comunicación es clara y todo es muy respetuoso. Se pasa frío y hay que llevar buen abrigo, pero también Nicolás me ayudó con ropa de trabajo y una buena chaqueta. El lugar es espectacular para caminar, disfrutar amaneceres hermosos y noches estrelladas. Cuando llueve, llueve, con ganas, como es en las montañas de Bogotá. Con los arreglos que se están haciendo actualmente, los espacios de vivienda van a quedar muy buenos y cómodos.

Yui stayed with us as a cleaner and was an excellent Workawayer. She worked 3 hours a day, always well-prepared, responsible, and followed all the house rules perfectly. She cleaned everything carefully and with great attention to detail. Yui is also a very social and friendly girl, easy to communicate with, and she fit in well with everyone at the guesthouse. We highly recommend her to any future host. Thank you, Yui!

I had a great time out on this little farm! Marian and Jethro are very kind and welcoming. Their home is very peaceful and in a gorgeous spot. I enjoyed working with Marian around the farm and chatting. We had lots of slow mornings with reading and coffee. Also their garden was super awsome for fresh greens and herbs! All of their animals are very sweet. Definitely recomend staying here!

We spent 10 days, in November, with Charlie and we have to say we enjoyed a lot 😊. This fellow is a real cherry on the cake ! Everything ran smoothly. Cleaver, respectful and funny guy. He made us feel like we were hosting our nephew 😍. His friend Xavier joined him for 5 days so we had more hands for the chores. One evening, they cooked some delicious « mini » hamburgers, so tasty ! Thank you so much guys for your kindness and help. Then Charlie, all the best for your amazing world journey around the rural environment.

Ines et Mathilde sont, en plus d'être des hôtes formidables, des personnes entières et pétillantes !! nous avons passé une première expérience Workaway magique dont nous allons nous souvenir longtemps ! les missions étaient variées, allant de la création de table en palette, à des enrochements ou bien débroussaillage à la tronçonneuse (ma mission préférée). le logement était top, il y avait tout le confort nécessaire et c'était très ressourçant ! merci encore d'avoir pris le temps de nous indiquer les meilleurs spots et de nous avoir fait goûter un plat typique, en plus de la randonnée partagée ensemble ! ce sont des hosts superbes que je recommande les yeux fermés !

Remi and Chloe were a lovely pair and I enjoyed hosting them. They worked hard and were cheerful and chatty. They appreciated the food and any help. They had an initiation into NZ weather being here through the severe wind event in October. I would have no hesitation in recommending them, but you will need to be very clear in your instructions and speak slowly, as their English is fairly limited. This in no way detracts from their hard work, enthusiasm and keeness to learn. A delightful couple.

Staying with Alandra and Shey was truly a wholesome gift. They took me in last minute after a different workaway arrangement fell through, welcoming me with open arms and amazing hospitality. Their compassion remains a growing tree with the firm roots in Love, Kindness, and Spirit. They truly want all who stay on their land to be joyful, and are graceful with how they navigate welcoming others into their community. The property has the beautiful quality of immersion, tending to dissolve one into the caress of mother nature. All while still having amazing luxury's of hot outdoor showers, good wifi, and broad accommodation. Personally, my time with them held the space for rich unfoldment and a deeper refinement of embodied truth. When I reflect on the exchange, I am left with soft eyes, a relaxed mind, and a big smile. There’s many things to say but none of them can fully describe the level of care Mika brings into a space, a home and a family. There’s only deep appreciation for the presence Mika brings and a deep wish for Mika to equally receive the care and kindness that comes with him. Hands down one of the most beautiful experiences as a Workaway host and a family.
