The 2 weeks Jessica spent here were great. Doing all sort of things that came up without a real plan . Just meeing up each morning and taking the day as it comes . Jessica helped in every aspect of the dayly life in our homestead, from general maintenance staff like fencing, cleaning and organizing the nursery, weeding, maintaining the vegetable garden to projects like helping to build the pond in the new greenhouse and building with me the bathroom for the caravan. We spent nice time, eating together in the evening, talking and traveling in the area. Quiet, respectful, responsible, intelligent and sensitive .

Fraternal, eager to learn new things and easy to get along with. The humour is not foreign to her! Thank you for your investment in various daily tasks!

Tiernan took such great care of my pets while I was away on holiday! He was really attentive and clearly put thought into making sure they were well looked after. I loved getting the little updates and pictures, and he didn’t hesitate to reach out with questions, which I really appreciated. It showed how much he genuinely cared. Knowing they were in such good hands made it so much easier for me to relax and not worry while I was traveling, which was honestly such a gift. Highly recommend!

my friend and I stayed with Chantal for 10 days and we fell in love with the beautiful place. The river and all the crops they have been planting with so much love are perfectly entangled with the beautiful landscape. We met different people, learnt so many things about gardening but also about cooking and, for example, building with concrete. amazing experience, we were really sad to leave and would have stayed longer if we didn't have our flights already.

We were delighted to welcome Atefeh and are truly grateful for the time she spent with us. She was dedicated, reliable, and always willing to contribute wherever needed. Her positive energy and kind demeanor made her a great addition to the community. She quickly adapted to the rhythm of the farm, showed great initiative in her duties, and brought valuable skills that enriched our daily work. In addition to her contributions, she also established a wonderful connection with the team and the spirit of the place, making her presence especially meaningful. We wholeheartedly recommend her to any future homeowner or project. She will undoubtedly bring commitment, responsibility, and a wonderful energy wherever she goes.

The stay at the hostel was really inspiring and a great experience. We planned to stay 2 weeks and stayed in the end 4 weeks. Kleaw and Issac are both super friendly, easygoing and always with a smile on their faces 😊 we really enjoyed the talks and also working together. we very much liked helping with their projects. To build everything with natural materials and with the nature, it's fascinating and challenging at the same time 😄 we learned a lot and got ourself many ideas for our future place back home. You can feel and see the love in this place. It is amazing what they created there. Alex liked that the work was various, from digging holes to measuring, pealing of the bark of the wood to painting the walls. Bob appreciated that he could also work on own projects like sharpening the machetes etc. It was really easy to work with everyone there. Surrounded by trees and having company of the lovely dogs, it is a very nice place to chill and relax. Thank you for everything 💚 and we are really looking forward to see you again, somewhere someday 🙏😊

Johanna came to me as a last minute helper. My experience with her was absolutely amazing! She is a fast learner, self starter, extremely responsible and trustworthy, I was able to give her any task and she completed it fast and very well. She helped me greatly in the household, with cleaning and organizing and declutterring. She is a very smart and beautiful young lady with a big heart, it is just so wonderful to have her around. I can only recommend her fully and highly to any future host. Johanna is a true gem!

I welcomed Claudia and Stepan as my first experience with workaway and it was, simply put, magnificent! Claudia and Stepan are very gentle souls while being a confident, skilled and beautiful young couple. Their help was extremely appreciated and my experience with both, was just great. They were eager and capable to fulfill whatever the task was: they painted both inside and outside the house, were executing some sanding down, wood work etc. Our old cabin and fence around the house radiates now , freshly painted, and gives the house so much more luster! Stepan is a trained carpenter which was such big luck since he could execute work on a professional level. Claudia helped me in household and with my mom, as well which was such a great support. She was so sweet with my mom, both she and Stepan are great people with a big heart. They just radiate joy and happiness and are so much fun to have them around. Claudia and Stepan were able to enjoy the surrounding nature while hiking and sight seeing, for example the castle of King Ludwig on the main island. I can only recommend them very highly to any future host.

We were delighted to host Heidy and couldn't have been happier with her stay. From the very beginning, she demonstrated an excellent attitude, a great sense of responsibility, and a genuine interest in helping wherever needed. She quickly adapted to our routines and always gave her best, demonstrating initiative and creativity in every task. She doesn't just complete the tasks assigned to her; she goes above and beyond, adding value with her ideas and dedication. We are grateful for all the effort and contribution she has made during her time with us and can wholeheartedly recommend her to any homeowner or project. I had an unforgettable time helping at this place. I gained some invaluable expereince at the animal hospital, and had a memorable time living with and getting to know the volunteers and staff. I felt very lucky to have exposure to the vetinary industry, with multiple surgeries and having to work within a team environment to monitor the health and wellbeing of all patients. I felt all volunteers were encouraged to make choices and take leadership - with support and guidance from the staff - which helped bring about a sense of agency, as well as, group contribution to the resolutions of any challenges we faced. I am extremely grateful for all the people who I had the opportunity to meet and get to know during my time here. I always felt included and respected by everyone, enjoying all the social acitivities we spontaneously decided to do together. Altogether, one of my favourite things that I've decided to do by myself, and I would definitely recommend to anyone who is considering to come along.

Host families, if Sally applies, say YES. Sally was fantastic. She fit into the family perfectly. Sally is hard working, eager to share the work, and brought her personal knowledge and experience to the projects we had to make them work. We loved having her stay and would highly recommend her to any host family.

Thank-you so much for your help, Julie. After being away for a few weeks. I came home to very healthy and happy pets - Benny the dog and 4 cats - and an extremely clean and tidy house. Julie kept in touch when necessary and was independent and savvy enough to sort things out if problems arose. Highly- recommended and I wish Julie many happy travels. Thank-you again.

I had two wonderful weeks with Olivia and Maja. Olivia is a great person, and I enjoyed working and talking with her. It was a very pleasant encounter for me. I highly recommend her and would love to see her again one day.

I spent one month with Harriet and David, and I can honestly say it was one of the most joyful months of my life. The house is spacious and comfortable, and I had my own private space (bedroom, bathroom, and even a small living room). The nature around is just unreal! I went on many hikes, especially with my lovely Harry 🐶. The mission was pretty simple: cleaning up the horse manure 6 days a week. And you know what? I actually liked it a lot! It felt like my daily meditation and even a bit of sport 😁. It usually took me between 45 minutes and an hour and a half when I took my time. That left me plenty of time to rest, hike, and even work as a digital nomad (the Wi-Fi isn’t very fast and I had to find the best spot to connect, but it worked). On my days off, I went to Edinburgh and had an amazing time there. It was sunny almost every day in April (maybe I just got lucky 😂). I had dinner with David and Harriet almost every day, and I had so much fun with them. They are so kind and generous. I really hope to go back again soon 🙏🏻. Just a heads-up: the place is really isolated — perfect if you love nature and quiet evenings, but probably not the best fit if you want to go out and socialize every day 😅.

Verena has spent the last 10 months with us, first arriving as a volunteer and later transitioning into our main management/receptionist role. She came with an open heart and mind, a willingness to learn and grow, and treated everyone around her with warmth and respect. As a housekeeping volunteer, she was efficient, hardworking and continuously went above and beyond to make sure tasks were done, guests were comfortable, and the hostel remained in good shape. She was always willing to jump in when we were a bit understaffed and was a huge help in training new volunteers that had arrived after her. As the role of manager/receptionist, she has done an amazing job facilitating various staff roles and overseeing the daily operations of our business (which is not for the faint of heart, as this task requires heaps of determination and love). Alice Springs is a unique place, different than anywhere else in Australia. You either come here and leave after a short while, or it sucks you in and you embrace it. We were happy to see Verena do the later and help us nurture the energy that keeps the property curious. We are incredibly sad that she is moving on after so long. She will be deeply missed by our community here and is welcome back with open arms at any time. We would recommend her to any future host; she is a delight to have around.

Our stay with Linda and Ian was an amazing experience, they are so lovely and kind, we really felt part of the family ! We enjoyed helping them with their house extension! Linda made us wonderful meals ! we felt a really special vibe with them ! thank you so much ! ❤️

I stayed about a week with the family, would have been happy to stay longer. Smyth David and the kids (and dogs, cats, lambs...) were welcoming form day one and made me feel at home. During my time here I helped around the house, fed the lambs, helped Harry with 3D printing stuff (while learning myself), fed the lambs, weeded a bunch ... oh and did I mention the lambs. Smyth's constabt learning drive and multiple interests and David's quiet calmness give the house it's great vibe, and the kids are all fascinating and interesting people. Thank you so much for letting me into your home and making me feel welcome.
