The communication was clear and easy (: As well the employes Stephan & Abishek are very symphatik and funny characters haha Bastorf is indeed a perfect start point for bycicling on the beach. Sam was with us for one week in September helping to re-landscape the garden and prepare it for winter. He quickly got to grips with the lawnmower, chain saw and strimmer and was clearly happy to continue working outside on our landscaping project even though the weather was cold and drizzling. He is fit and was great at shifting weighty furniture and cleaning out our atelier and terrace - not very pleasant tasks! Sam is very knowledgeable, flexible and we enjoyed his company and valued his help - thank you, Sam! We hope our paths cross again. Good luck with your onward travels.

We were very pleased to host Samantha for a week at our cottage in northern Croatia. It soon became apparent that Sam enjoys working outdoors and is very knowledgeable about plants and gardening in general. It was great that I could trust her to make practical and sensible decisions with regard to garden design, transplanting and general autumn garden care. She focussed enthusiastically on her gardening project, despite the unusually cold and wet weather, and a lot was achieved during her week with us. I am very pleased with the result and would definitely welcome her back, any time. Good luck with your onward travels, Sam - we enjoyed your company!

I stayed at Monica's house for four long months, and it was a very pleasant experience. I experienced new things there, such as gardening, planting trees, mowing the grass. but also i was helping in little tasks as cleaning inside or outside, helping in the compost processes and taking care of the little girl most of the time. They also provide a pleasant environment for everyone—very calm, friendly, and the food is just so incredible. During those four months, I had the opportunity to connect with them more deeply, i really like the way that they respect your space as same as they want theirs, we also share many interesting different views of life and thoughts were i found they like to think deeply as much as i like. It was even more interesting because I was able to understand their unique and peaceful way of life. The little girl is just so charming, i was able to experience many kind of things with her as dancing, singing, picnics outdoor, going to the lake, walk through the forest etc. and I will really miss her very much. I recommend this house to everyone 100% and as a plus my english improced a lot thanks to them so it's a beautiful Canadian experience, both sharing with them and living outdoors and experiencing the dramatic changes in climate.

This was my first workaway experience, which lasted one week, and I had a very pleasant stay at Heloise's place. The house was spacious and clean, within walking distance to everything in the town. My room was very comfortable and quiet. Heloise was clear about what she needed and what she offered in exchange, a truly responsible and discreet person. I enjoyed organizing Azra's birthday party and joining a board games night, even though I didn't have the chance to get to know the neighbors and learn much about their co-housing project during my stay. I recommend staying with Heloise if you're into responsible living and curious to discover new places and cultures

I can highly recommend it to anyone who has a fundamental interest in working in this field! The team is incredibly wonderful and welcoming. Even though the work can be quite challenging at times, I truly cherished my time there. I learned so much from the team and the lpeople on the move. Living together in the house (which, by the way, is very beautiful and in a great location) not only provides a good balance, but also a wonderful sense of community and togetherness. I was given a really warm welcome and everyone looks out for each other. You can read about the ‘typical’ daily routine in the reviews below. In general, however, I had the feeling that every day was different because you always had new encounters and got to know new people. It was incredibly moving to see that it's always made a priority to see people on an individual level and talk to them, rather than just doing ‘anonymous work’. I am extremely grateful to you for your time and your work and will definitely be back!

I had a wonderful exchange with Hurly. He has an amazing amount of experience due to his long standing in traveling the world himself as well as hosting all different kinds of people. The exchange of stories and amount of insight Hurly has is truly inspiring. We went to visit his dad, who is a very lovely soul. He also had great recommendations for my stay here and planned trips and also took me to see some things around the area when he had the time. I can only wish everyone a great host as Hurly was for me!

Long story short, Alois is a legend. He is incredibly kind, generous and cheeky and I will absolutely visit again if I ever am in the region. It was my first work away and I stayed for around 10 days and was very sad to leave. Couldn't recommend more. Thank you Alois and best of luck!!!

It was an absolute pleasure hosting Jack at the campground. Jack picked up the tasks asked of him very quickly and was a natural with the customers. He has a lovely energy, kind open minded and compassionate. Jack also connected well with the community of other work-away's making meals and firm friends. I recommend Jack he is a fantastic human.

Valeria was such a lovely person to have with us. She helped around the house and took great care of our daughter, always patient and kind with her. Valeria was polite, friendly, a little bit on the introverted side, but very reliable. She was always punctual and followed instructions really well, which made everything smooth and easy for us. What stood out the most was her calm and positive presence. She blended into our routine naturally and made daily life feel lighter with the way she quietly supported us. My family is really going to miss her, and we’re very thankful for the time she spent with us. I would happily recommend Valeria to any family or project looking for someone dependable, respectful, and kind-hearted. We wish her all the best and safe travels wherever her journey takes her.

Runa has been an excellent volunteer. She spent a week helping my parents at the farm with different activities and always with a good actitude and mood. She got used to the life style and culture easily and alwsys with a good energy despite the language barrier. I totally reccomend to accept Runa as volunteer, 100%!! Thanks Runa for your help and good luck in your adventure in Southamerica.

I had a very peaceful and wonderful stay at Cyrus and Andreas beautiful farmhouse. Together with Birch and the other volunteers it was always a great vibe in the house with a good mix of quiet time enjoying the incredible rooms and interiors as well as social times biking around the picturesque countryside, exploring nearby towns, and lunches together. I enjoyed many wonderful chats with Cyrus learning about the house, architecture, furniture design and all the thought and intention put into the details- it was very inspiring. The work was a great mix, I did some cleaning, gardening, social media, photography and content creation. It was done at a comfortable pace and care was taken to ensure what you did would be something you would enjoy as well. Thank you to Cyrus, Andrea and Birch for a lovely stay- I will always remember my first time living in the countryside and all the wonderful memories :)

Daniel was willing to help with any task. He also enjoyed music like we do and went with us to play at nursing homes to entertain. We got to listen to him practicing accordian in his spare time and even helped fix it when his very aged leather strap broke. He got to know my chineese dates (jujubes) very well picking them a couple of times as they were very productive this year!

Barnabas is a wonderful person; curious, friendly, always with a smile on his face, and a true volunteer spirit. He was eager to help with a variety of tasks and approached everything with capability and humility. We really enjoyed spending time with him and appreciated both his contributions and his great company. Anyone who hosts him will be lucky to have his support. Did a lot of chauffeur my husband around. She also helped in the gardens and kitchen. Taught her a bit about herbs and she was an anxious learner.

My two weeks at Jus & Kim's farm went super fast ! I have had the opportunity to experiment and take part of the farm life in Bohinjska Bela, 5km away from the famous Bled lake. Daily tasks like watering the seeds and feeding the animals, walking the dogs (and the pig 😊). But also a lot of wood working : creating 25cm logs out of huge trees, in order to prepar the winter. Fruits collecting and more. There is a lot of other projects running at the farm! And it is super nice to cook with freshly collected vegetables. Bohinjska Bela is a cute village surrounded by a valley that will let you speechless. You can go hiking in the area, borrow a bike to go to the Bohinj Lake. And easily reach Ljubljana thanks to reliable public transports.

I’m sorry for the late review — but Juls deserves every word of it. What an incredible adventure she helped us create! My sister and I had an amazing time helping Juls with gardening and house maintenance. Let me start with a little story. You know how in some households people just co-exist — sharing meals, doing chores, but never really connecting? That’s the type of culture we grew up in: where interaction is shaped by routine and duty, not intimacy. At Juls’s, everything was the complete opposite. She made every moment about genuine connection. We played countless board games, had deep conversations (with plenty of tears and laughter), and she always found ways to bring us together. She went above and beyond to support us, to care, to entertain, and simply to be present as a loving human being. When I struggled to keep up with my morning walks, she was the first to offer company — just because she cared. Juls is a beautiful ball of warmth, resilience, and love. From the very first day, we knew we’d want to return and help her in any way possible. Her generous spirit, open communication, and authentic kindness shine through in everything she does. She creates a culture you naturally want to contribute to. She has impeccable taste, a laugh that fills the room no matter how difficult life gets, and an infectious love for people. She understands how much it costs to truly show up for others — and she does it, wholeheartedly. Volunteering at Juls’s was both demanding (because she inspires you to be your best) and incredibly rewarding, because she is so grateful, never entitled, and deeply honest. That honesty creates a rare and safe atmosphere where “whatever is going on, you can always talk about it.” And that’s exactly what makes life with her feel so real, so human, and so comforting. We miss her. And if you ever get the chance to volunteer for Juls, you will absolutely miss her too.

I was staying with Christine for about 2 weeks at her lovely, huge farm near the small town Tunes in the countryside. All what is there based on her own work, managmend and ideas for about 50 years. I really appriciate the time together with Christine , ecspecially the dinner together outside on the terasse with candlelight and insted tv or radio we had the sound of birds, an owl and crickets . It was interesting helping out in the garden in der climat at the Algarve. All the citrus- trees are amazing. Christine is a very nice, friendly person. Thank you , Christine, for the hostpitality!! It was a very enriching experience! Spending time with a beautiful and loving family was wonderful. The place feels a vibrant energy from the first moment. They make you feel welcome at all times. They dedicate themselves with love and patience to each task, and being able to collaborate on it filled our souls with happiness. The place is very quiet and peaceful, full of life, ideal for keeping your mind calm at all times. Bungalows made with love and attention to every detail, radiant sunrises amidst nature, and peaceful nights to the gentle rhythm of the river and crickets—a genuine respite. You can experience the essence of Laos amidst the sensations and smells in the kitchen with Somlid! He is a master at preparing food. Nina is welcoming, and we truly felt very close thanks to her patience and love with which she shares her knowledge and ideas. The children are so radiant, full of love and energy to share! Adorable pets to care for and spend time with while you feel their love. It truly filled our souls to be part of their magic! I am grateful for every moment, it will remain in our hearts forever....
