This was our first Workaway experience, and we could not have dreamed for a better beggining! Since day one we felt at home with Nathaniel and Diana. They are wonderful people, kind and dedicated. The land is beautiful and sits in a privileged area. During the working hours, we would be learning a lot since they both communicate really well and love to share their knowledge. The tasks were interesting and diverse, and it was very cool to see how everything gets reused in nature. Then the free time would pass by flying (so that we had to stay another month) due to a lot of fun activities outdoors, aswell as game/fireplace/film nights. It was also good to have a camp for ourselves in case rest or privacy was needed. We are greateful and we would be happy to come back in the future! We absolutely recommend staying here for a couple of months and get to know them and their project. Domo arigato / moltes gràcies!

We stayed with Clare from February 2nd to 10th, 2026, and had a wonderful time. Although we're a bit older, we had no trouble completing the tasks assigned to us. Clare went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed working in her beautiful garden. Her flowers are simply gorgeous :-D Thank you so much, dear Clare, for your generous and warm hospitality. It was a great privilege to get to know you. We've had a truly incredible time with Zoe, Andrew and Adam! For two weeks we've been part of their family and wouldn't want to have missed it :) We enjoyed helping with the gardening projects. The great weather and lovely animals (dogs, cats, chicken and snail-eating ducks) wandering around made it extra special. Our spanish exchange with Zoe who speaks Spanish fluently and among others the lovely neighbours around was great. Besides, we've had a lot of enriching (cultural) conversations, yoga sessions and delicious plant-based food and water kefir! In our spare time we adored being in the garden and green surroundings (morning runs with their dog Samba ;)) and thanks to their useful advice explored nearby places (Luarca, Ribadeo, Otur beach, Camino del Norte). We couldn't have wished for a better first workaway experience, thank you so much Zoe, Andrew and Adam <3

Una persona entrañable y muy buena ayuda. Buena comunicacion y conversacion. Trabaja muy bien y tiene buenos conocimientos con pintura y huerta. Muy rica cocina, muy amable, educada y divertida. Tambien ayuda terapeutica con sus conocimientos y empatia. Su perrita Frida es puro amor. Super adiestrada y controlada por Renate. Ningun problema con mis gatos, gallinas, ni ladridos ni nada. 100 por 100 educacion alemana. Lamentablemente me siento triste que no se pueden quedar mas tiempo

We absolutely loved having Chantal stay with us and can recommend her from the bottom of our hearts! She helped us with all kinds of things—from renovation projects to taking care of our dogs—and was amazing in everything she did. Chantal is responsible, super handy, and just really fun to be around. She always jumped in to help with a positive attitude. We shared such lovely moments together too—great hikes in nature, good food, and lots of laughs. We felt completely comfortable leaving our home and our dogs in her care, which says a lot. She’s a genuinely kind and beautiful person, and we already miss her!

Mi experiencia en la finca ha sido simplemente maravillosa e inolvidable. Empezamos con la ubicación que es indescriptible: en el medio de la naturaleza misma. Cada día, después del trabajo iba por un baño en el río, con su agua fresca y pura, para decansar, refrescarme y meditar un poco, acompañado solo da los animales que pasaban por allá: cada vez veia muchisimas aves como lapas, tucanos, o tanbien monos, pizotes, iguanas, nutrias.. Mientras al atardecer, aprovechaba que bajaba el calor para nadar en el mar, que está literalmente a dos minutos en bicicleta o cinco minutos caminando. El agua es limpia y tranquila, sin olas, perfecta para nadar, relajarse y conectar con la naturaleza. Hasta los días de lluvia fueron maravillosos por que iba a caminar en esta selva, tan verde y tan viva...y me llenaba el alma. Quiero destacar especialmente a Gilberto y Anita, la familia que cuida del lugar, que me acogió. Son personas de muchísima amabilidad: siempre atentos, disponibles y genuinamente preocupados por que no me faltara nada y que mi experiencia fuera la mejor posible. Me hicieron sentir como en casa desde el primer momento...( la verdad desde antes, cuanto ya empezamos hablando por telefono). Todas las personas que han pasado por la finca durante mi estancia, trabajando o visitando, han sido igualmente amables, simpáticas y dispuestas a ayudar, creando un ambiente muy bonito y humano. En los fines de semanas compartimos, pintamos, y nunca me aburrí. La casa donde me hospedé es sencilla pero hermosa, con todo lo necesario y más. Es un lugar muy tranquilo: por la noche reina el silencio, sin luces artificiales innecesarias, escuchando solo los sonidos de la selva —los pájaros, las cigarras— y por la mañana despertando con el canto de los animales o incluso los monos aullador. Así que nunca necesitè poner alarma. Yo soy una persona que le gusta despertar temprano y ya trabajar..así los horarios de trabajo me caieron perfectamente . Los trabajos en la finca me han parecido perfectos y justos para mí, ya que amo la vida de campo. Son tareas bonitas, cuidar de las gallinas, reponer agua por los toros, remplazar las cercas, tirar alambre, alistar el lugar para las ovejas, plantar flores, limpiar los jardines de las hojas, plantar arboles o flores... siempre todo en contacto con la tierra, que te hacen sentir aún más parte de este hermoso lugar. Sí, hace calor… pero estamos en Costa Rica, y eso forma parte de la experiencia. Recomiendo este lugar de todo corazón a quienes gusta las fincas, la naturaleza, la gente buena y los ritmos lentos. Estoy profundamente agradecido con Celine y Nicolás por darme esta oportunidad única, y a Gilberto y Anita por todo lo vivido. Espero poder volver algún día —de hecho, estoy seguro de que volveré— porque es una experiencia que llevaré siempre conmigo, en el corazón. La verdad es que si, pasé (casi) 2 meses muy bonitos.

I had a very good time with Mahesh. He is a friendly and trustful person. We became good friends and it all went easy with both of us communicating our needs in a simple and yet sufficient english. The place is very simple and has just started, there are some things that can be improved like having a fridge and a cooktop. The place is very peaceful and there are a few restaurants in a walk distance. To do other than that you will need to take a scooter, bus, cab, etc. Mahesh is always there to help you. This time I didn't get to see any elephants over there, hopefully next time around.

I had a wonderful experience with Tanisha and Ashwin. I’ve done several volunteer projects through Workaway, and this stay truly brought back the sense of authenticity I felt when I first joined the platform years ago. You’ll be living in a remote and absolutely beautiful place, hosted by an Indian couple who are building something meaningful from the ground up. Being part of their journey and helping bring their dream to life is incredibly special. They have a vegetable garden and a lovely café that is almost ready to open. During my stay, I helped with farming, painting, and assembling a few things for the café. The work felt nice and relaxed. The place itself is very peaceful, and I also had plenty of time to be on my own, so it’s ideal if you’re comfortable with some quiet and solitude. The volunteer accommodation is very clean and it has everything you need. It even has an Indian-style toilet, which for me was part of the experience and made me feel more connected to the local lifestyle - after all, we are in India! 😃 Tanisha and Ashwin are wonderful people — kind, welcoming, and great to be around. I was also lucky enough to try the coffee they’ll soon be serving to clients, as well as their pizzas — both were absolutely delicious and made with great care. Absolutely delicious! 🤤 I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone looking for something genuine. This is a real one :) Thank you again for hosting me — and hopefully see you in Portugal! 🌈

My time on Bowen island was absolutely amazing. Ana, Jesse and Emilia made me feel like part of the family from day one. They are all so fun to be around and we laughed a lot together. Also they really made me feel welcomed in their house and trusted me from the beginning. The "work" was not a lot and was mostly picking up Emilia and spending time with her which didn't feel like working at all. Emilia is such a funny, smart and confident girl so that spending time with her was always great. Sometimes I cooked dinner or just tried to make family life run a little easier. But I always felt like part of a team and also appreciated the good communication. Besides that I had plenty of free time. Ana and Jesse always encouraged me to explore Bowen and take part in Island Life. They lend me their cars and sometimes even gave me a ride so coming around on Bowen was not a problem at all. On the weekends I had the days off so I was able to go to Vancouver a few times and meet with friends I made on the island. It would also be possible to go to Vancouver Island or Whistler. This was my first Work-away experience and I absolutely loved it. The family made it so special to me and I couldn't have asked for a better family to stay with during those six weeks. Also Bowen is just an incredibly beautiful place (even in winter) and there is a lot of nature and wildlife to explore. If you want to you can even take Camila and Flo as your adventure buddies with you which I would highly recommend. I already miss the family and hopefully will be able to come back one day!

It was a lovely experience to have JiaRong stay. She's a friendly, funny and likeable person, and I was happy with her work around the house and in the garden. I really enjoyed hanging out with her here and in Valencia. She's also a great cook! Welcome back anytime :)

I spent only 3 days with this family and I regret it a lot that my flight was rebooked and my stay was shorter than expected becouse it was a really nice experience, everybody was very hospitable and communicative, even if they didn't speak eanglish. Pavel and Oksana are amazing people and I recommend staying with them and visiting Belgrade!

Yetong and Sascha were our guests for 25 days and provided us with great help with various tasks: construction, weeding after heavy rains, repairing the fence on the surrounding wall, and planting new trees. They are hard workers who, with proper guidance, are capable of working independently. They are clean, tidy, and respectful of space. Despite our difficulties understanding English, it wasn't too difficult to communicate the essentials of daily life. Good luck, Yetong and Sascha!!!

Freyja was an amazing add on to our team for December and January, exactly the peak season where we needed hard working people and she was defitinelty one of them!! Freyja was super responsible with her shifts, she was unbeatable in housekeeping, didnt matter if they had 15 or 25 beds, she rocked it every single time! Definitely our GOAT of housekeeping. She has a very social and bubbly character, and she got along so well with the whole team and guests! Loved to play games in her free time which was really nice to see, it makes people bond you know. Freyja gave us such amazing ideas also for the hostel, she gave the hostel definitely more color and character! She came up with a sunset kayak activity which until this day we still run and people love it. Thanks Freyja for your amazing contribution in our hostel, we loved having you here, we're waiting for your comeback next year!!

Ich habe rund 3 Wochen im Haus dieser wundervollen Familie verbracht und bin unendlich dankbar für diese tolle Zeit! Ich habe mich direkt bei meiner Ankunft super wohl gefühlt und wurde herzlichst aufgenommen. Jeder in der Familie ist super aufmerksam und alle haben sich ernsthaft für meine Interessen und Anliegen interessiert, sodass ein toller Austausch entstanden ist und ich super viele neue Erfahrungen sammeln konnte. Sehr lieb gewonnen habe ich auch die Schüler der beiden Schulen in denen Grace und Anselmo arbeiten, in denen ich einen kleinen Vortrag über Deutschland halten durfte. Dabei bin ich in Kontakt mit tollen Menschen gekommen und habe sehr interessante Gespräche geführt. Die ruhige Art der Eltern und wie untereinander kommuniziert wird lässt eine warme Atmosphäre entstehen und man fühlt sich super wohl. Auch das ich nicht wirklich viel portugiesisch spreche hat uns nicht aufgehalten und wir haben uns in einem Mix aus Englisch und Spanisch unterhalten was wunderbar funktioniert hat. Die drei kleinen Hundis haben mein Herz erobert und ich habe es sehr genossen sie auf die Spaziergänge in die Nachbarschaft mitzunehmen. Zu Fuß ist auch eine kleine Christo Statue gut erreichbar die ein toller Aussichtspunkt ist. Wir haben zusammen super schöne Ausflüge in die Umgebung gemacht, zu einer Talsperre und einer Ranch mit einem riesen Buffet wo wir zwei wundervolle Tage mit vielen spannenden Eindrücken verbracht haben. Außerdem durfte ich Teil von einem Familienfest rund um die Taufe von Verena sein, wofür ich sehr dankbar bin! Verena ist ein aufgeschlossenes, neugieriges junges Mädchen und sie liebt es alles in der Wohnung umzuräumen und neu zu sortieren, und ich habe ihr gelegentlich dabei geholfen.😂🥰 Man erreicht sowohl das Zentrum von Caieiras als auch das Stadtzentrum von Sao Paulo problemlos mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln oder Mototaxi/ Uber. Wer in Sao Paulo unterwegs ist, sollte einen Halt bei dieser tollen Familie machen! Danke! 🫶

My experience with Rumi in his cabin was very special. A nice way to connect with the local culture of Sumatra from the inside, in a quiet way and totally away from tourism. We were able to talk a lot and exchange opinions and tastes. It was a real pleasure to know a culture so different from mine and such exotic and wild places with such a very good host.

First, I’m sorry for leaving feedback late. You are very kind and you taught me many things. Pottery, gardening, cooking… everything was very interesting for me. I still miss your chocolate cake, it was so good! The work was simple, like weeding and cleaning. After work, you still helped me and cared about me. You also taught me English kindly. I will never forget the movies we watched and the time together. It was very special for me. Thank you very much, Geoffrey.

I highly recommend Margherita as a volunteer English teacher. During her time at our family run course, Margherita demonstrated dedication, responsibility, and enthusiasm in teaching. She was able to adapt quickly to a new environment and build strong relationships with students of various ages. Her teaching methods were creative, interactive, and easy to understand, making the learning process both enjoyable and effective.
