Chiara and Calleigh are the nicest guests and volunteers! :) I hosted them for a week in March during their sping brek, and even if it was such a short time they still were of good help, and we still managed to have a good time. It was their first workway experience, and even tho they didn't have much experience they were very enthusiastic and happy about the work. They helped me cleraing out some parts of the garden from brambles and young trees and doing some weeding. I totally recommend the both of them to any host for their next workaway adventure :) And I also hope they could be coming around here some time again! All the best girls, and see you soon!

My stay with Hannah and Taku was my second Workaway and my second stop in Zimbabwe. I’d planned to stay for two weeks, but ended up extending it to three :) Hannah and Taku picked me up by car in Mutare and took me to their place, which is about an hour’s drive from the city. At first I was the only guest, but soon other friends of the family arrived, and Hannah and Taku quickly made me feel part of it. I had a bed in a shared room in the main house, with a lovely balcony overlooking the mountains and the sunset. As the house filled up, I was even allowed to move into my own chalet with an en-suite bathroom. During my stay, I helped to work on the chalets for the tourist groups. This mainly involved finalizing the clay work as well as painting the interiors. Especially on the paintings me and Hannah worked closely together, which was great fun, and she also gave me responsibility for it, which felt good and meant I could work independently. By decorating the interiors with my own designs, I feel I’ve left a personal touch, which makes me very proud. Meals were cooked and eaten together with the family and friends, which created a wonderful feeling of community. I also had the chance to meet Taku’s family, who were visiting, and learnt a lot about traditional Zimbabwean traditions, such as beer brewing. My favourite part was our conversations over dinner and around the campfire in the evenings, where I could chat with the locals and learnt a lot about the Shona culture. On days off, we went on trips together in the surrounding area. We either all went out together by car, or I was going off on my own and walked through the village to the waterfalls. All in all, my time with Hannah and Taku was one of the best experiences I had on my entire trip. Simbabwe and the Marudzi Farm will forever hold a special place in my heart. This is mainly because Hannah and Taku made me feel like part of the family. I admire the fantastic project they’ve set up and how they’re shaping their future. I’m excited to see how it develops and will come back to see it for myself :))

We spent month and a half here and had a great experience. The place itself is beautiful - surrounded by nature, very peaceful, and a great spot if you want to slow down and take a break from busy city life. The work was quite light and flexible. Usually just a few hours a day, split between helping in the café and doing housekeeping tasks. Especially outside the main tourist season, everything felt very calm and there was plenty of free time. The atmosphere was very relaxed and informal - no pressure, no strict schedules — which we appreciated. Marcel and Martha are super nice hosts!:)

For many years, Zighe has dexicated her time and energy to educating children in the neighborhood. Because of Zighe and the association many children go to school and have a meal every day. I am very grateful to Zighe for welcome me in such a friendly and warm way. I felt surrounded and protected by her by the coaches and all the children during my two-month stay. Despite limited ressources, but with a lot of energy , smile, love and kindess the foundation and their team dédicace their life to improving the lives of young people, paving the way for future generations

salo and david are such lovely hosts, and joaquín and pacho are an absolute joy to care for. we really can’t recommend staying with them enough. their home is in such a beautiful area, and the space itself just feels really happy, sunny, and full of love. they’re super organized, which made it really easy to step into their routine, and they’re both great communicators. joaquín is the sweetest little baby and will 100% brighten your day, and pacho is such a good boy. we loved taking him on long walks and hikes around the area. they’re also really generous and welcoming, and we shared some delicious meals and genuinely great company together. overall just a really special stay and we’d absolutely recommend it 🤍

I hosted Silian and Merle for about ten days in march, but I would have kept them for much longer! :) Coming back from work and finding some delicious meal ready was a real blessing, and in general having them over as guests was such a nice time. They were very independent with the work, on the first day I showed them around the farm and pointed out what needed to be done, and since then they were organizing their own time, since I wasn't home most of the time. As I mentioned they are great cooks, I think they could convert anyone to veganism ahaha I totally recomend them to any host, but I also hope they will be coming around here again in the summer :) All the best guys, and see you soon!

I spent an incredible month here learning many things. Pauline taught me how to cook new dishes and she told me the extraordinary life she has. Therefore, I helped Tryggvi with outdoor activities and I learnt the most important parts about creating a new bathroom: we worked using cement, glue, tiles and also wood. I was like a son to them. I am very glad I had this experience and I hope that I will see you again. Thank you for everything

I hosted Kristine and her son (and the dog too :) for a few days around New Years. She sent me a last minute request during a time when I was not actually planning to host volunteers, but I decided to accept them all the same, and it was the right decision :) I told her that the volunteers room would be cold and that I would not have that much time to hang out, and she was ok with eveything. The two of them are a nice travelling family, very adaptable and interesting to talk to. They helped me to do some work in the garden, and one day we all went to a friend of mine's home to prune some trees, and the team worked very well :) All the best with your life guys, and see you again one day!

Maya stayed at my house for 5 days, and was a great help to my family, and my farm made them aware of our life and I also introduced them to the people in my village and Maya treated me like a family member in my house and I had another friend who came to us from Japan, and also helped them with the housework and I told them about my life and the life of the people here and thank you very much for my house. If I get a chance to meet you again in the future, I will definitely meet and may your future life be filled with success. Best wishes from me from KRUSHNASINH

we had a lovely and iutsranding stay in Mamata's farmhouse. The food was delicious, work on the farm was lovely. During our stay we had an unfortunate accident with our son where Mamata quickly jumped in and arranged transportation to the hospital. We will never forget the warmth we experienced from Mamata and het family. Go here if you get the chance!!

Elena was an absolute joy to host! She may look slim, but trust me is very strong! She had only just aarrived and she and Andy had to come and rescue me from being locked out of the truck and striaght away she helped out! Nothing was too much trouble for her, she tackled everything we asked and did it with enthusiasm and care and was a huge help. On the days Andy was unable to work alongside her [ bad back] she asked what needed to be done and went right ahead and did and more. Testimony to her lovely personality is that when she sat down to enjoy either some reading /TV or to eat the animals all went over to her to chill out as well........ a lovely young lady that we would be thrilled to have come back anytime!! Happy Travels Elena - you will be missed!! X

We want to thank Jeroen, Mariette, Karel, Doris and Douwe for the 10 days they spend in our tiny home. 10 days felt like 20, because there was no pause. Even though, we were so many, everything went smoothly. Sharaï and Eléa had a blast playing with Karel, Doris and Douwe. They could also practice their english. Mariette was a steady help for my wife, especially for the corn planting (which is out of the soil now). Jeroen helped so much making concrete, bringing stones and soil to the wall project in front of our house. We sadly couldn't finish, but it advanced a lot. And I enjoyed the last day when we went to the waterfall and had our farewell dinner with everyone. Thank you again for the amazing time. Caspar, Jyoti, Sharaï and Eléa.

I spent 19 amazing days here in February 2026, surrounded by incredible volunteers who truly made the experience special. The work itself is very manageable, and the hosts Proxy, Bernie and David really look out for everyone and make sure you feel comfortable and supported. It honestly felt like being part of a family, which made it even harder to leave.I’m really grateful for this experience and would absolutely recommend it to anyone considering staying here.

On our trip through Asia with our family of 5 (children aged 11,9 and 7) we spent 10 days on the farm of Casper and his family. It was an unforgettable experience. Taking part of the Nepali every day farmlife, cooking and eating local food, highly fullfilling farm chores, amazing hikes and views (although we had some foggy days), but most of all an incredibly welcoming family, that felt like friends. If you get the opportunity we would highly encourage to go here (again)!!

I stayed with the family for two weeks and had a very good experience. Most days I went out with Mr. Dembe, and every day was different — usually visiting the community or the farm. At the farm we harvested bananas, oranges, and cacao, but the work always depended on what was needed that day. In the community I always felt warmly welcomed. Going out with Mr. Dembe was one of the highlights. He is very friendly, a real storyteller, and I learned a lot from him, especially from our conversations about business and life. I stayed in the village house, which felt like a small hotel in a beautiful garden, with my own bedroom and bathroom. Meals were provided, and after some time I also shared meals with the family. The farm staff were very friendly, and there are nice things to do nearby — the hot springs are definitely worth visiting. Mr. Dembe is flexible, so if you want a rest day or discuss the work, that is always possible. Thank you very much!

Giulia was a very big help at our shelter! She carried all the tasks very well and communicated beautifully with our team and the rest of the volunteers. She got a cold while she was volunteering with us and even then she did her best not to let the team down, working through it. She also opened her home for one of our cats. She connected with our Bella from day one and decided to not leave her behind. We were very happy to have her here and looking forward to having her again in the future.
