Description
Yvonne here. I live on an old farm plantation house that was built in the 1830's in the local Acadian style. We're looking for help with general maintenance around the plantation home and growing vegetables in our garden.
Our region of Acadiana is nestled in the center of the Louisiana French triangle known for its rich cultural heritage, including unique food and music. The plantation home, built in the 1830s, was for years a working farm along the banks of Bayou Bourbeaux. Today, there still remains many of the old buildings, including a renovated cottage that serves as accommodations. Our community lies within a Cultural District, and it is a small community only 25 minutes from Lafayette, the largest town in Acadiana with plenty to offer in the way of local food, music and dancing. Expect a quiet setting that is surrounded by trees and flat agricultural fields. The nearby town of Arnaudville has a brewery with weekly events, and an arts collective hosts monthly pot lucks, events and a French table, which is a gathering to speak French with members of the francophone community.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

We're both French speakers and would love to share with you the unique qualities of the Louisiana French language and culture. You'll get to experience Cajun and Zydeco music, as well as Cajun dishes like gumbo, boiled crawfish and more. This part of Louisiana is one of the most unique in the country.

Autres infos...
Breakfast and lunch are typically on your own (food is provided). Meals are typically shared at night, consisting of traditional Cajun food but also an array of others. We eat meat, but can accommodate you if you have dietary restrictions. Be sure to let us now beforehand. Would also love to have your traditional cooking. The kitchen is for all to enjoy. Bread makers are very welcome.
Summers here are hot and humid, but we still have a great time. Fall and spring offer perfect temperatures, while our winters are mild and enable us to spend plenty of time outside. There's plenty of opportunities for kayaking or fishing in the Atchafalaya River Basin , the largest swamp in the United States and Lake Martin..Informations complémentaires
