    What you’ll love here
We live and work in Swedish Lapland — lots of nature, lots of quiet, and a daily rhythm that feels very different from city life. Around us you’ll find forests, lakes and rivers; in winter there’s snow and often northern lights, and in summer long bright evenings. If you enjoy the outdoors, you’ll feel at home quickly: hiking, fishing, photography, berry/mushroom picking, or simply enjoying the calm.

    Who we are

We’re a small family running a small hotel project together. Depending on the season, there may also be other helpers or friends around. We value respectful communication, reliability, and clear agreements. We like things uncomplicated, but not chaotic: talk briefly, plan well, then get it done.

We are a family living on site and running the hotel ourselves. The help we are looking for is purely within our private family life and household, such as:

    * helping with daily family routines and spending time with our child
    * gardening, snow clearing and wood handling
    * projects around the house

We are not seeking employees, nor assistance with cleaning guest rooms, administration, or any paid hotel services.

Why Workawayers enjoy staying with us
You’ll get a real insight into the day-to-day life of a small place in an Arctic environment — practical tasks, visible results, and enough space to properly wind down after work. If you like hands-on work, enjoy learning, and genuinely appreciate nature, you’ll fit in well with us.

    Social life & exchange:

We’re a German–Argentinian family, so international life is normal for us. At home we mainly speak German and Spanish, plus Swedish — and we can also communicate in English and French. Workawayers are not “just helpers” here; they become part of our real family routine. If it fits the week, we enjoy sharing meals, having a coffee after work, and doing simple outdoor activities together.

Local community & what makes this region special:
The area is Swedish, but culturally very unique: it’s strongly shaped by the indigenous Sámi culture and also influenced by being close to the borders with Finland and Norway. If you’re curious, this is a good place to learn about life in the far north — the seasons, the pace, local traditions, and what a border region feels like in everyday life. Depending on the season, there can also be chances to connect with people nearby — not a “tourist program,” but real Lapland.

What we can share (skills & knowledge):
We can share a lot of practical know-how: planning and organizing renovation and DIY projects, working in a structured way, basic maintenance and repairs, material planning, and generally how to live and work efficiently in an Arctic environment. If you bring your own skills (woodwork, painting, gardening, cooking, languages, etc.), we’re happy to learn from you as well.

What we hope to learn by hosting:
For us, hosting is about genuine cultural exchange. We’re interested in how people from different places live, work, think, and solve problems. We value new perspectives, new routines, and also small everyday things — recipes, practical tricks, ideas. We want it to feel balanced and worthwhile for both sides, so everyone leaves with something meaningful gained.

Life with us is about simple family life in Swedish Lapland and sharing everyday routines.

We live in a small village in the north, surrounded by nature, with a calm rhythm and a lot of daily life happening around the house. We enjoy cooking together, spending time outdoors, organizing daily tasks, and keeping our home and surroundings in good order.

Help here is light and varied, depending on the season and the day. It can include things like helping around the house, organizing spaces, light gardening, spending time outside, or supporting everyday routines while we work alongside you.

We have a young child, and family life is a natural part of our days. Helpers are welcome to join shared activities like playing outside, reading, or simply being part of daily life — always together with us, never as sole responsibility.

We value clear communication, mutual respect, and a relaxed, safe atmosphere. This is about cultural exchange, sharing skills, and living together for a while, not about employment or structured work.

We decide together what feels natural and balanced, based on your interests, the season, and the flow of everyday life.

    Accommodation & food:
We provide a clean, safe, and simple place to stay: a private room with its own bathroom, plus a kitchen option for self-catering. This is not our private family home and it is not part of an active hotel operation.

Please note: we are continuously renovating, so some details and routines on site can change from time to time. We will always organize things so that a proper sleeping space, bathroom access, and basic functionality are guaranteed. In return, we ask for a bit of flexibility — and we do our best to keep it comfortable and well arranged.

We do not host campers and we do not provide tents.
Regarding food, we will agree in advance on what works best for both sides (for example self-catering using the kitchen, shared grocery shopping, or a clear arrangement depending on the current project phase).

We enjoy sharing meals together and usually have at least one or two shared meals a day, or spend time together over coffee and cake. Shared meals are an important part of the cultural exchange for us.

If, at times, it doesn’t fit into our daily rhythm to eat together, we will of course provide groceries so you can prepare your own meals. There will always be enough food available, and we make sure helpers are well taken care of.

    Time off & the area:
We are very remote. The village has only a few residents — which is exactly the point if you’re looking for quiet and nature. In your free time you can spend a lot of time outdoors: walks and hikes, photography, berry/mushroom picking in season, fishing, and in winter snow activities — and with some luck, northern lights.
In summer, there is a beautiful swimming lake right in the village, with a floating sauna house.

    Supplies & transport:
There is a small grocery store within walking distance in the village. Public transport is limited overall and distances are large. There is a bus connection to Kiruna from the nearby village of Nedre Soppero. Having your own car is helpful, but not essential if you’re comfortable spending your time off locally and planning shopping/errands.

How we live & house rules:
We live as a family and keep things respectful and fairly calm. What matters to us:
    • clear communication and reliability (agreements are kept)
    • cleanliness in shared spaces (kitchen/bathroom/surfaces)
    • no parties, no drugs; alcohol only in a responsible way
    • respect quiet hours (especially in the evenings)
    • safe working practices and careful use of tools/materials
    • respect privacy

If something is unclear, we address it directly — simple, but clear.
