Namaste 🙏🏼 We are Tina and Andrew, a homesteading couple from New Orleans/Mississippi USA. We are traveling in India for the next month and looking for a place where we can volunteer for the next 3 weeks. Back in the U.S. we have setup a homestead and built our own food forest where are growing over 200 different edible and medicinal plants. We are also almost finish building our own home from the wood in the forest that we live in. We have good experience with building, farming, and gardening. Andrew (33) is certified in permaculture design with years of experience in various climates. He used to run his own NGO (non-profit) in Latin America that was a hybrid of forest conservation and permaculture experiment. He also used to be a tour guide so he has a lot of knowledge about hospitality and tourism and holds an MBA in entrepreneurship.

I, Tina (28) am myself still a student of permaculture and my primary job is a professor of psychology (I teach classes now remotely and received my PhD in organizational psychology a few years back). I have experience tutoring kids as well.

Additionally we are both finishing up our 200 yttc in Rishikesh so we can help teach yoga ( I am also a certified reiki healer) 😊

We are both open to any and all kinds of workaway opportunities! We are both hardworkers and easygoing.

I have experience as a volunteer on workaway and Andrew has been a workaway host so we understand both sides of the exchange well 🤗

Beautiful stay in a Himalayan village. Everyone we interacted with was warm and welcoming. They seemed genuinely happy to have foreign visitors.

El mismo Pulga es una persona increíble, enérgica, cálida y amable con una visión positiva y necesaria para las generaciones futuras. Me encantaría ver su visión y desearía poder ayudar más mientras estuve allí, así que si este es el tipo de cosas en las que sientes que tienes la capacidad de ayudar, ¡adelante! Yo diría que esta es una experiencia en la que necesitas aportar algo (por ejemplo, ideas y estrategias para implementarlas y financiarlas) y ayudar a trabajar en la construcción de eso. El propio Pulga trabaja como guardaparque y algunas semanas o días pueden no estar disponibles por lo que es necesario ser una persona autosuficiente y autónoma para hacer avanzar los proyectos con coordinación. Le aconsejo que se ponga en contacto con él para hablar primero sobre cómo puede trabajar en sociedad si desea contribuir a este proyecto específico para los niños. Gracias Pulga por la energía que trajiste todos los días en la finca a pesar de las dificultades por las que estabas pasando, te tengo el mayor respeto por todo lo que haces por tu comunidad, tu familia y el mundo. Me inspiras y me das esperanza, espero que otros en tu comunidad sigan tus pasos.

This project is located on Pulga’s family farm which is part of a broader conservational agricultural project. You will be working on many things here to help maintain the farm, and will be offered the warmth of Pulga and his father, Don Rigo’s family (who make you feel like you are a part of their family), a bungalow to sleep in and usually breakfast and lunch generously made by the family (though you can and should contribute to it). Although I did not work very much on the school (as it is currently in need of money and resources to continue), I am very grateful for my experience overall at the farm and the warmth of the family. Pulga himself is an incredible, energetic, warm and kind person with a positive and necessary vision for future generations. I would love to see his vision happen and wish I could help more while I was there, so if this is the type of thing that you feel you have the ability to help with, go for it! I would say this is an experience in which you need to bring something to (for example ideas and strategies to implement and most importantly, ways to fund them) and help work on building that. Pulga himself works as a park ranger and some weeks or days may not be available so you need to be a self-sufficient and autonomous person to move the projects forward with coordination. I would advise contacting him to first talk about how you can work in a partnership if you would like to contribute to this specific project for the kids. Thank you Pulga for the energy you brought every day at the farm despite whatever difficulties you were going through, I have the utmost respect for you for all that you do for your community, family and the world. You inspire me and give me hope, I hope others in your community follow in your footsteps.
