We are a friendly family from Scotland. Rosa is a professional gardener and Greg is a software developer. We have two children - Leo aged 8 and Ivy aged 6.

We are planning a month or so in January 2026 to do some travelling as a family. We are interested in opportunities to spend a week or two working in Costa Rica. Rosa spent over a year in Central America previously and speaks Spanish pretty well.

We enjoy meeting new people and will happily get involved in whatever needs to be done. A place with children might work best so that all the kids can entertain each other.

Before we had kids, we did a few workaways. Our first was in 2014 on a farm in Sweden, we entirely redecorated a kid's bedroom, prepared a greenhouse for winter, cleared out a barn, pickled cucumbers, and helped other workawayers with their tasks. We've had a wonderful time on two other workaways since then, in England in 2016 and in Italy in 2015 - we've planted fruit trees, maintained vegetable gardens, harvested olives, pruned grape vines, looked after chickens, moved building materials, chopped wood, cooked delicious food, and generally helped with chores around the house. In summer 2013 we helped for 3 weeks at a sea-turtle centre in Greece (http://earth-sea-sky-global.org). We worked in the visitor centre, looked after the animals, cleaned the aquarium tanks, gave guided tours to visitors, and monitored the turtle nests on the beach. We made a difference pro-actively by building donation boxes and setting up a checklist to help other volunteers work effectively.
