Hi all, welcome to my bio :) am a 28 year old graduate student from the USA and now based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I grew up in the woods and always had a passion for the natural world and working to connect to it!!! I have traveled all over the world both alone and with groups of students, and am so excited to get a glimpse of a special part of Italy through a workaway experience before heading to the Outdoor Education conference in Rimini.
Many of my loves and interests relate to the outdoors. I choose to spend much of my free time hiking, exploring, camping, backpacking, skiing, biking, taking cold dips, and some kayaking. I also regularly practice yoga and sometimes indulge in climbing. I thoroughly enjoy community-based travel, trying new and unique foods, cultural exchange, and seeing live music. I dabble in many creative forms of expression whether that be dance or other forms of art. I absolutely love to learn, read, and write. Importantly, I really enjoy working with young people, plants, and animals! I heavily value community, family, and my friendships and relationships and spend much of my time nurturing these things and prioritize community building. I am incredibly extroverted and playful, and love meeting people while also value intentional time alone in nature. I am currently taking a Permaculture Design Course in addition to my Master’s in Outdoor Education and have a profound interest in place-based learning and living, experiential education, accessibility and inclusivity in the outdoors, sensory experiences, collaboration, stewardship, and working with the land to grow food and build. I am looking to learn more technical skills as it relates to building and permaculture.

My education has been intersectional and rooted in sustainability and systems thinking; learning about the relationships humans foster with the natural world and one another. During my undergraduate studies, I was very involved as the president of the college’s Outdoors Club, an orientation leader, a peer facilitator, and an intern for the Office of Sustainability. I partook in study abroad programs in Ecuador & the Galapagos, South Africa, and Banff, Canada. I was a trip leader for camping/backpacking/kayaking/service/surfing trips in Maine and New Hampshire, Northern California, and Alaska. I traveled to Northern Thailand to get her TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers Of a Second Language) Certification and worked as a facilitator and instructor for international students in Thailand, Laos, and Indonesia. After making my way back to the US, I worked as an educator for two seasons at the Catalina Environmental Leadership program. I then set roots outside of Aspen, Colorado where I was a ski instructor over the winter and got Avalanche and Ski Instructor certifications. In alternate seasons, I worked as an educator for Aspen Center for Environmental Studies and other adventure and place-based education programs locally as well as some landscaping work. I have also led a summer program in Costa Rica and Indonesia (Bali & Sumatra), worked as a leader and instructor at the Island School in the Bahamas, led a Gap Semester program in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. I am currently living in Scotland and getting my Master’s in Outdoor Education at the University of Edinburgh while also partaking in a Permaculture Design Course. I have Outdoor Emergency First Aid and Wilderness First Responder Certifications.

I love a good game night! all sorts of card games, rummikub, telestrations, and codenames are my top choices. I am an open and honest communicator, have a lot of love to give, have heaps of energy and enthusiasm, and am a sponge for knowledge. I absolutely love to play outside.
