Dear Hosts, I am an intrepid traveler and it is time to step into my big boots again. My youth was spent in a rural town in South Africa and with my parents I explored Southern Africa. During my adult years I traveled extensively through Europe with my husband and daughters. We regularly spent time in Heidelberg, Germany where my husband was a guest researcher. The third phase of traveling started with a teaching year in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. That was followed by a year of teaching near Ningbo in China. My last stint of teaching was in the north of Thailand in 2023. I visited India in March/April 2023. I worked as a volunteer teacher in Jaipur before joining an Intrepid Traveler tour from Trivandrum to Goa. I intend to spend three months in the northern parts of the country that put a spell on me.

I live with my husband in a remote rural town in South Africa, where I am very involved in community projects. We built our own home and developed or small holding during the past four years.

As a mature traveler, an avid reader, a teacher, a mother and homemaker I have a great variety of skills that I can offer my hosts. I am 64 years of age and in good health, fit and adventurous. . Cultural exposure through reading, cinema, music, museums and conversations will be my priority.

Language is a magic wand, as well as a practical tool. As a published author , I value what language offers me to express my deepest thoughts. The lack of a common language can be highly frustrating, I spent most of my working life teaching English as Foreign language. Teaching in South East Asia taught me how to navigate my journey in places where I could not depend on English. That is always a humbling experience. I am looking forward to return to India and see the landscape of language as an integral part of the physical journey.

Excellent interpersonal skills - I am outgoing, warm-hearted, open minded and have a sense of humour.
Conversational English skills - I am an English Second Language Teacher.
Child-minding - I am the mother of two daughters and I have a Montessori Diploma.
Caring for the elderly - I nursed my mother until recently when she passed away at the age of 98.
Skills to work with tourists -I am a seasoned traveler, able to converse in English, German and Dutch.
DIY - I am a homemaker and love to do interior decorating projects.
Sewing - I love to use beautiful material to decorate my house and have done sewing for a guesthouse.
Crafts - Mosaic, paint techniques, always inspired by Pinterest!

Floral arrangement - and I did floral arrangements at the German International School where I taught for 8 years.
Gardening - we have a lovely garden where we do lots of building ourselves.
Housekeeping - cooking, shopping, I love to entertain.
Managing skills - I have been a Project and Event manager and can offer organizational skills.

I have so much to offer as a mother, a homemaker, a teacher, an intrepid traveler and an avid reader. It will be lovely to make reading a part of what I can offer and that can lead to dramatization. I am living in a rural town and am involved in upliftment and community art projects. I am a very healthy and active woman of 64 who can easily fit in with young workawayers.
