Descripción
Hello hosts!
I’m Kim, and connection is what drives me most in life. After 23 years in human services, advocacy, and media, I’ve developed strong organizational and communication skills – but right now, I’m craving something more hands-on and transformative as I prepare for my next chapter.
Currently exploring Costa Rica, I’m ready to dive into meaningful volunteer experiences around the world. My professional background is office-based, but my heart is drawn toward sustainable living, working with nature, and learning practical skills. Some of my most cherished childhood memories come from helping in my grandmother’s gardens, and I’m excited to reconnect with the grounded presence that comes with gardening, agriculture, and work that is more physically active.
What I bring: Solid experience with admin tasks, program support, and communications, plus genuine enthusiasm for learning everything from permaculture and animal care to property maintenance. I’m also especially drawn to projects with spiritual or community focus that welcome all people. While I appreciate ritual and tradition, I don’t follow a particular religion – just staying open to authentic spiritual growth, and deepening my connection to all aspects of life.
What works for me: I thrive in longer-term placements (1+ months) where I can truly settle in and contribute meaningfully. I love shared living and community life. I also realize that after giving away most of my possessions and packing up everything I still own for travel, I do need a private sleeping space to recharge and keep my belongings secure.
Where I’m headed: I’m particularly interested in exploring places connected to my heritage (Canada, Sweden, Ireland, England) and am seriously considering Thailand and South America. Honestly, if I can manage to see several places on each continent, that would be incredible. Cultural exchange is huge for me – I want to learn (at least some of) your language, understand your traditions, and share stories over good food.
I’m a quick learner who brings both useful skills and positive energy. I have WhatsApp and would love to chat about whether I would be a good fit for your project or community, and if your community/project seems like a good fit for me.
Looking forward to connecting!Intereses

Que habilidades tienes?
Professional Background & Transferable Skills:
I've spent over 23 years working in human services, advocacy, and media production, which has given me strong organizational abilities and experience managing multiple tasks efficiently. I'm comfortable with administrative work, keeping detailed records, coordinating schedules, and working collaboratively with diverse groups of people. My background means I can handle both digital tasks and interpersonal situations smoothly.
Hands-On & Practical Experience:
While much of my career was office-based, I grew up helping with gardening and have maintained that connection to working with plants and outdoor spaces. I'm genuinely interested in sustainable practices and land management. I've also cared for animals my whole life - both my own pets and through pet-sitting for others - so I'm comfortable and responsible around various animals.
I understand what it takes to maintain organized, clean living and working spaces, both from professional experience and years of house-sitting responsibilities.
Shared Living Experience:
I have extensive experience with group living situations, including 15 years with roommates (2002-2017) and intermittent Couchsurfing (2011-2017). This taught me how to be respectful and mindful in shared spaces, communicate openly about household needs, and adapt to different living styles while maintaining harmony.
What I Bring:
More than anything else, I am enamored with any opportunity to meet new people, expand my horizons, and, for better or worse, I believe that I am more like any person next to me than I am dissimilar to them, which also means my default is the assumption that others have the best of intentions. I’m dependable, quick to learn new skills, and genuinely excited about hands-on work. I can contribute both my existing organizational and interpersonal skills while being eager to learn practical tasks specific to each project. I value clear communication and am committed to being helpful and positive in any living or working situation.Edad

None. I do try to eat healthy. And I am happy with a low meat diet (for the average American diet).
