I stayed at her house for a week. The work was simple, such as weeding the garden, watering the plants, cleaning the floors, and cleaning the bathroom. There is a market about a 20–30 minute walk from her house. She is very kind and truly passionate about learning about different cultures. She is a professional traveler. I will never forget what I learned from her about the history of Peru. While I was staying in Peru, she kindly kept some of my extra luggage for me. I can’t thank her enough.

My volunteering experience here has been really good! At the school, I was expected to help for around 3-4 hours a day. Ahmed, the secretary, is always happy to have a chat and help. The students are happy to see volunteers and learn in interactive ways. With students aging from 7 to +35 depending on the groups, I learned to make fun English activities. I especially loved working with the women’s adult class. It was so much fun and awesome for cultural exchange as we talked about lots of subjects for practise, therefore sharing our cultures. Working with kids was also interesting as I learned some class management tips. Cultural exchange is a real thing with this workaway. By talking to students, teachers, Ahmed and living next to the host family, day by day I’ve learned a lot about Moroccan culture. About the accommodation, I was with a fellow volunteer in an apartment next to the host family’s house. It wasn’t fully equipped at the time I came (May 2026), but the host family are sweathearts and ready to share. It’s not located inside the city of Tetouan, so there is a 15-20 min commute by bus or taxi to go to the school in the city. It’s really cheap (around 5cts) and I got used to it really quickly. Thank you so much for welcoming me!

I am very grateful for the experience I had during these eight days with Nash, Stefan, and their children, Lyubov and little Kiran. I felt welcomed as part of the household. My main responsibility was looking after the children, though never both at the same time—always one child at a time. It was a rewarding experience because both Lyubov and Kiran are curious, engaging, and kind children. Spending time with them was enjoyable, and their energy and enthusiasm made the days pass quickly. Nash and Stefan welcomed me warmly into their home and made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. I enjoyed learning about their life in a small mountain village, where they are part of a community of like-minded people who value cooperation, harmony, and a healthy lifestyle. I also appreciated our conversations about travel, family life, and different ways of living. One thing that impressed me was the way they encourage their children to become independent from an early age while creating a supportive and loving environment. During my stay, they organized a children's cooperative at their home and in their garden together with other children from Sofia, which was a very interesting experience to observe. They were always considerate of my need for privacy and personal time when I was not helping with the children or with small household tasks. I stayed in a separate cottage attached to the main house. From its large windows, I could enjoy beautiful views over Samokov, the surrounding valley, and the nearby mountain peaks. The cottage has a bathroom with reliable hot water and fast Wi-Fi. The toilet is outside and is a composting toilet. The food in their home is mainly vegetarian, varied, and freshly prepared. They also use fresh eggs from chickens raised in the village and fresh milk that they make into homemade yogurt. Every day there were warm meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as fresh fruit. During my stay, I felt relaxed, respected, and free to express my thoughts. This experience had a very positive impact on me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to spend time with their family. I learned a lot, enjoyed my stay, and would be happy to visit them again in the future.

L’esperienza è stata molto gratificante perchè Duncan ha molte doti: proprio quelle che cercavo! Parla italiano correntemente e, soprattutto, ha una straordinaria sensibilità linguistica e letteraria. È anche molto simpatico, ironico e autoironico…e, quest’ultima è dote assai rara. Grazie, Dunki.

Bella was an absolute pleasure to have on our farm. From day one, she proved herself to be trustworthy, hardworking, and incredibly capable. She is smart, quick to learn, and always approached tasks with a positive attitude and great energy. Beyond her work ethic, Bella is simply a wonderful person to be around—fun, kind, respectful, and genuinely caring. She fit in seamlessly and brought a lot of positivity to our daily life. We always felt comfortable relying on her and trusted her completely with any responsibility we gave her. We are very grateful for the time she spent with us and would welcome her back anytime. We can wholeheartedly recommend Bella to any host looking for someone dependable, intelligent, and genuinely good-hearted. She is truly an exceptional person and a fantastic helper.

Venetia has been an exceptional volunteer who consistently exceeded expectations. Her reliability and commitment were outstanding — she showed up when needed and followed through on every task without prompting. What truly set Venetia apart was her attitude and the energy she brought to the team. She created a positive atmosphere that uplifted those around her, and her collaborative spirit made working alongside her a genuine pleasure. Her communication was clear, timely, and thoughtful throughout, making coordination smooth and effortless. Venetia is exactly the kind of volunteer who makes a real difference — not just in the work she delivers, but in the culture she helps build. Highly recommended.

I spent one month with this family and had a wonderful experience. The work was clearly communicated and included a variety of tasks such as gardening, moving firewood, cleaning windows, walking the dog, and helping with daily household chores. There was always something different to do, which kept the work interesting and enjoyable. I usually worked Monday to Friday from about 9am to 1pm, plus about an hour of help around dinner time, leaving plenty of free time and weekends to explore the area and enjoy everything Victoria has to offer. I really enjoyed the time spent together, whether it was going out for ice cream or playing games. The children (12 and 15) are great to spend time with, and the pets (dog and cat) are both incredibly sweet and friendly. Having my own apartment with a private bathroom in the basement was also a big bonus and gave me a comfortable space to relax. The location is fantastic, with Victoria easily accessible by bus or bike, a beautiful waterfront trail nearby, and the beach only a short walk away. I was regularly invited to join activities, which made me feel welcome and included. Thank you for hosting me and for making my stay in Victoria such a memorable experience. I would happily recommend this Workaway to future volunteers.

Mi sister and I stayed at Lucas house for two weeks, to care of his animals while he was gone. We spend two days together to get to know each other and the place and he really is the nicest person, only good vibes and amazing conversations ! The place is like paradise on earth. 5 minutes walking from the most beautifull beach. The house is amazing too, we really felt at home and with a lot of space for us. We had an amazing time with the 5 lovely animals and would have stayed more if we could have haha. One of our best experiences, thank you again for everyting Lucas ;)

It's hard to describe in words the experience I had with Lisa and Michael. They are such wonderful, thoughtful, kind, giving and creative people. My experience with them has filled a spot in my heart. The work in the garden was perfect for me and my hope was to do justice with what their expectations were. I learned a lot from Lisa and have implemented some of her ideas in my gardens. The area was beautiful and I was very happy to have access to a bike so in my free time I was able to venture out. The train station is a big asset so you have the option to travel further away if you wanted to for the day. It was a very peaceful place to be! Anyone who is interested in this "Work Away" will not be disappointed.

I highly recommend Shohei as a volunteer. He became a good friend of our family, and we greatly enjoyed the conversations we shared in our free time. The most important about him is that he was always willing to help and we really needed that, because of personal circumstances , we asked him to help in different times of the day and he did so, no matter what or when . He "saved our life" very often, specially with our dogs. Shohei also shared his friendship and culture openly with us, and he was very friendly with our dogs. I am specially thankful for the help and kindness he showed to us. Thank you very much, Shohei, for staying with us. I hope we will meet again in the future.

We had the pleasure of hosting Stefanie for a month and would highly recommend her as a reliable and responsible Workawayer. She works independently, takes initiative, and is quick to notice where help is needed, often offering thoughtful suggestions and assistance around the house. This made it easy to trust her with tasks and know they would be completed well. Stefanie became a valued part of our daily family life, joining us for meals and other activities. We appreciated her calm, friendly, and curious presence, and she was a easy to have around our home. Our kids especially loved playing card games like Uno and Sequence with her, and our pets enjoyed the care and attention she gave them. Thank you, Stefanie, for taking a chance on our family and spending the past month with us. We are grateful for all your help and the presence and experiences you brought to our home. Safe travels, and please keep in touch!

Well we hit gold with these two young ladies. Both of them had some experience with working with the land and were happy to pick up new skills, strimming, grass mowing. Weeding all of our shrub beds and picking strawberries was also expertly done. ( some strawberries even made it back to the kitchen :) They loved cooking tasty vegetarian food. Good to talk to, of which we did a lot. What can I say but highly recommended.

I would wholeheartedly recommend volunteering at PPI to anybody interested! I had such an incredible time here last summer I am returning this year, and cannot wait to do so. First of all, the place is stunning and peaceful. Surrounded by a gorgeous forest and acres of land, it was a joy to wake up to the view of foggy mountains, walk amongst redwoods and firs, and breathe in some fresh air every day. Albeit a bit remote, this is a perfect place to disconnect and focus on what matters, whatever that might be to you. However, that is not to say PPI isn’t well equipped by virtue of its distance from a big city. You will be fed delicious vegetarian food every day and have more than enough coffee, joyful company, and meaningful entertainment. The Wi-Fi works great if you need to get some work done outside of volunteering hours, and in case of any medical emergency or urgent change of plans, the team is willing drive you to the nearest town. On my last week volunteering there, a really bad migraine struck me down for hours, but I felt extremely cared for by multiple members of the staff who checked on me and offered to take me to urgent care. This is just one example of how wonderful the people are here. I felt welcomed since my very first night at PPI, and I learned so much through the conversations I had with everyone there, staff, fellow volunteers, and retreat-attendees alike. Everyone, truly, was thoughtful, caring, and an absolute pleasure to be around. They were always generous with their time even at their busiest, as well as with their Buddhist practice. I was lucky enough to be able to witness their prayers, dances, and overall practices during an intensive retreat, an openness to a very sacred thing which I do not take for granted. Lastly, the work was fulfilling and interesting — I was never bored! I volunteered during one of their big retreats, which changed the schedule a little and involved a lot of cooking and food prep for a large crowd. So, it was mostly loads of chopping led by Woody’s expertise. I also got to help with maintaining the land, painting, and cleaning. Every task felt like it had a clear and meaningful purpose and I felt safe performing them with the team’s supervision, even when working with new equipment and doing things I had never done before. Overall, I had the time of my life here. Whenever I wasn’t working, I had the opportunity to walk around the beautiful woods and streams around the property, read books from their communal library, and really focus on my creative pursuits. On days off, I was thankfully able to drive to nearby towns, enjoy a nice coffee in Guerneville and swim in the Russian River. It was a fun, meaningful, and transformative experience that left me feeling more connected with nature, myself, and the world at large. I think about it all the time and cannot wait to be back!

First of all, I want to say a huge thank you to Alexandra and Michael! I stayed with them during the month of April, and my main tasks were gardening and cleaning the common areas. The work was well-organized and clear. I had an absolutely wonderful time with them. Alexandra and Michael are truly wonderful people-incredibly kind, welcoming, and always helpful. They made me feel at home from day one, and I couldn't have asked for better hosts. thank you and see you soon :)

First of all, I'd like to say that it was my first ever Workaway experience, and I strongly believe I couldn't have found better people. They made me feel at home from the first moment, as if I'd been their friend for a long time. I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Jose, and I feel like I've built a very strong bond with him. We talked about literally everything, from the funniest things we've created to the strangest experiences we've had, to the deepest stories. I really enjoyed spending time with someone like him. As for Nick, I had fewer opportunities to spend time with him, since he had to work all day, but I still really enjoyed our chats and the occasional jobs we did together! As for Charlie, he's a very intelligent and funny guy! I really had fun watching him and José practice the dance for the school event😂; I hope it goes well! I also really appreciated him coming up with new games to play with us; I loved his creativity! Another thing I have to say is that they really helped me improve my Spanish: after a week, I was speaking like never before. As for the location, I felt truly at home, and everything they asked me to do felt like I was doing it for myself. Furthermore, in just a few minutes by car (or bike), you can reach Bocairent, a small but very unique town. Agres is another beautiful place, with its monastery and springs. Plus, the natural surroundings are breathtaking; the Cuevas de las Fenestras are a must-see if you're in the area! There are also many beautiful trails for cycling and running! I'd say that, despite being a small place, it offers so much to do. Thanks to Jose and Nick for giving me the opportunity to live this experience. I'd really love to return someday!

Vielen Dank dafür ... vielleicht gibt es ja mal ein Wiedersehen :-) Manjola was a brilliant help. She is very reliable and responsible. Together with another Workawayer from Finland, she pruned our entire pine grove and was also a great help with other jobs in the garden. Chatting with her outside of work was also very enriching. Thank you so much for that... maybe we’ll meet again one day :-)
