I couldn‘t imagine a better start in Canada! So far away from my family Rose & Tony gave me a home. Rose & Tony… …are uncomplicated, easy going, patient …took me to so many places / friends / activities …taught me so many things about bees (I really enjoyed to be part of the beekeeping and taking care of the bees. It’s really calming to watch the bees) …prepared always delicious food …provided cookies and ice cream for me :) The stay was just a joy for me. Can’t put in words, how grateful I am. The three weeks went by too fast. Thank you so much Rose & Tony! 🐈🐝

Jamie is a fantastic host, joyfull, creative, generous, full of ideas, projects and energy. I had a wonderfull time at her house, helping out a few hours a day and then cycling around, borrowing her kayak and paddeling in the bay down the street or joining her for a drive when she was going somewhere. She knows a lot about Haida Gwai, is involved in cultural life... What a pleasure. I can only recommend to visit her! Lucky you... I would go back anytime and plan a long stay. One month was definitly too short

I had the Best experience at the Dog Shelter. It was so much fun to be around all the animals and I also got to Meet so many great people. I actually stayed longer than originally planed because I liked it so much and leaving the animals was also very difficult. I got to learn a bunch of new things which was also very fun and I am truly greatful for the expiriences I made. Thank you so much for everything and I hope to maybe See you again.😊

Amina is a wonderful person. We loved having her here. From what I heard she is an amazing yoga and massage therapist. We would love to have her again if she is ever in the neighborhood.

Katarzyna & Tore stayed with us for just over a week. They were a pleasure to have at our place always willing to help. The going away dinner prepared by them was great. They are welcome back anytime. Regards Leon and Dalene

Jules was a great pleasure to have at our place. He is a very hard worker and very willing to please. He worked on our building projects and learned a lot. He really enjoys learning new skills. The grand kids loved him. He taught them some great football skills. He was also very good at playing with them. He was very careful with planting veggie seedlings and did a lot of gardening as well. He went beyond what was expected of him many times, and we are very grateful to him for all he did. He is chatty, friendly, polite, intelligent and from a loving, stable family.

Ceda was an outstanding volunteer and an absolute pleasure to have as part of our team. She is incredibly hardworking and has a remarkable ability to take initiative. Once she sets her mind on a goal, nothing stands in her way. Ceda consistently approached every task with enthusiasm, determination, and a positive attitude. She is proactive, communicative, encouraging, and a true team player. Rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done, she actively looks for ways to contribute and improve projects. Her strong work ethic and willingness to help wherever needed made a lasting impact on our operation. Beyond her skills and dedication, Ceda brought positive energy to the team every day. She encouraged others, worked well with everyone, and helped create a supportive and enjoyable environment. We are extremely grateful for everything she contributed during her time with us and would welcome her back anytime. Any host or organization would be fortunate to have Ceda as part of their team.

Volunteering here near paradisical settings was a truly sacred gift. Sabine values community interaction & is an exceptionally passionate, & genuine person who is practical & yet provides a non-pressure, peaceful working environment. Taught to look after horses since childhood, she became an extremely skilled expert with high physical endurance, & an ability to observe & deeply understand the internal psychological state of her animals. Her one-of-a-kind horse rescue & sustainable farm sanctuary brings hope, justice, & healing to abused or traumatized animals. Sabine’s project sets a brilliant example for others to learn from, & she truly deserves all global support to ensure this secluded countryside farm refuge remains affordable & protected from toxic urban expansion or influences. ​During my stay, I was incredibly privileged to support her humanitarian & environmental missions. In fact, I always felt inspired to whole-heartedly contribute extra volunteer hours. I spent rewarding hours painting the off-grid farm structures/walls, handling extensive housework daily chores, & maintaining the gorgeous gardens by planting trees, potting, weeding, etc. Staying in the Perla Marina neighborhood—at a home with beautiful balcony views & a unique spacious atmosphere that seamlessly blends indoor urban living with nature—inspired me to cook daily delicious vegetarian meals or desserts, while sometimes using fresh garden ingredients. The amazing gatherings with her workers, neighbors, & other volunteers helped us form an unforgettable, culturally diverse community that I will always count on as part of my Dominican family. ​Being surrounded by her 9 dogs allowed me to build & learn new skills, while remembering to try to remain calm while disciplining them. Yet, sadly my absolute favorite adorable dog, Gina, will be especially missed the most! Gaining invaluable experience walking, feeding, & training some of her farm horses was a lifetime experience that brought me a better sense of confidence & ease to be around horses. Taking peaceful walks to the nearby beach to watch the gorgeous Caribbean waves hit the shores provided me with an intense, beautiful spiritual connection to nature that will stay with me forever! I sincerely hope the plant life I left behind will be looked after well so it continues to thrive & prosper. I wish I had more time to offer more support, but hopefully will be able to contribute again in the future, as I cannot recommend this volunteer opportunity enough.

My experience here has been amazing. It is an oasis of peace and introspection. The working hours were always respected, and I never had to work more than expected. The tasks varied depending on what was needed around the property The place itself feels magical, both the structure and its natural surroundings. I had a private bed in a section of the guesthouse, with access to a shared bathroom, all surrounded by fruit trees and beautiful flowers. Gwendal and Negar ( the hosts) are two very special people. I cannot express how grateful I am for everything we shared together. They were always attentive and made me feel at ease in every possible way, whether it was bringing fresh food from the garden or engaging in meaningful conversations that encouraged reflection and exchange of perspectives. An open and thoughtful way of communicating created a space for reflection and mutual understanding ❤️🙏 I would recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get to know themselves more deeply and is open to embrace a slower pace of life, fewer external inputs, and a strong connection with nature ✨

My experience with Mai was great, she's nice and mannered. She's easy-going, adventurous, independent, responsible and good with children. She's always welcome back to stay with us.

Having Steffi stay with me was an absolute joy! Not only is she a wonderful human, full of life and energy and amazing smiles, but she also works her butt off! She will see jobs that need doing and just get on with them as well as any other tasks you ask of her. She slotted seamlessly into my crazy life and I honestly can't recommend her enough to other hosts. It was very sad to see her go. I feel like I've added another little sister to my family and have made a lifelong friend but will seriously miss having her here. I really hope she comes back many times!

We only had a short 10 day stay at Jameelah's Hacienda but it was a wonderful experience. Jameelah is a very kind, helpful and friendly person, who made us feel right at home. It was really fun to learn about the area and it's history. The work we did was really rewarding. I was really excited to be able to help make some signs for the different plants and trees around the Hacienda. It was special to be asked to add my creativity and color to the space. My partner did the manual labour side of things; placing the signs, general yard work, maintaining some of the paths and painting & building benches. You start early since it gets hot in the afternoons so you have the rest of the time to yourself where you can explore the area. Jameelah kindly gave us a ride to Merida when she was going there so we were able to get more groceries. We had a really great experience and we hope to come back and visit someday. It will be fun to see how much this special place grows. Thank you Jameelah!

Yohana is just great. I'm impressed about how she managed to do all what she does. Malang is beautiful and she and her family are just improving the experience. The classes, the tours, the food and the company were perfect. Really happy about this experience. I would love to say even more nice things because they deserve it. Hug you from afar Yohana!!

Putting the magic of the past 5 weeks into words is going to be challenging, but I'll give it a shot! When I was looking for volunteering projects, I wanted to learn more about how to be self-sufficient, connect deeply with nature and develop some skills in tending and caring for the land. I walked away from the opportunity with the above and so much more. This is truly a place for transformation and healing if you allow it to be. The love, tenderness and care that Benny has invested in building out the project is truly visible everywhere. Waking up everyday and being surrounded by the goats, chickens and peacocks is such a blessing, and being surrounded by such a beautiful collection of human beings to eat, work, play and connect with is just such a rare and powerful experience. My favourite experiences include: The team days - witnessing what is possible when a collective of humans come together with a core mission in mind is so deeply empowering and so much fun!!! I don't think I can name a better experience in life than enjoying home made curry together after a day of hard work in the sunshine. Learning how to milk a sheep (miss you Juliette!!) learning how to use a whipper snipper, chainsaw, chopping wood and planting and watching the growth of many a seedling come to life :) During my time here, we enjoyed many a stories around the fire, yoga classes, ecstatic dance, sharing circles, arts and crafts and (the highlight) perfect dinner nights! I have so much deep love and gratitude to Benny, Lea and Pancho (who have so much love and devotion to the farm and making the magic happen) Phillip, Lynne, Lari, Yannick, Natasha, Lorenzo , Gabriel and Luca. This is more than a Workaway opportunity. This is a an immersion into the joy and flow that life can be when we focus on land, nature animals and humanity :) If you want to rest in presence, grow as a human and connect deeply with other amazing humans... this is your place.

Franco stayed with us for a few weeks. He is very easy to get along with and did a huge amount of useful work for us, mainly digging channels for a new water mains as well as gibstopping, painting and he used his extensive handy-man skills to construct a wooden water meter cover. He is very thorough and conscientious and we can recommend him to any future host.

My stay at this place was absolutely awesome and truly a highlight of my trip! This place is completely magical. For two weeks I had the chance to disconnect, live close with nature and work alongside amazing people. For the first five days we had guests around, which kept us busy with hospitality tasks. Even though there were no guests for the remaining days, we filled the time with other meaningful tasks. While there were definitely daily routines that needed to be done, I loved that we could manage our tasks independently. Ron and Val are wonderful people, and I can highly recommend this Workaway to anyone! You definitely need to be prepared for the fact that you are living in the jungle. The living conditions can be a bit rustic at times, but for me, that was honestly an amazing and life-changing experience. I learned so much and truly fell in love with that place. Thank you for everything! (:

We spent 5 weeks at Jo and Mel's place, taking care of the chooks and dogs, weeding a little and most of all helping with the finish of their new barn. It was good learning useful construction tips with their builders Lee and Harry, walking up to Mount Nebo and to Greene's Falls, glancing at a Bora Ring nearby, relaxing by the pool when it's hot after work, eating dinner and chatting with Jo and Mel almost everyday and so many other good little things. We feel so lucky they've been our very first and so great hosts in Australia, we are so grateful! Their place and themselves are so lovely we can't do anything but recommend them! Linda and Bernie are two of the most hardworking and trustworthy people I've ever met. Their standards for love, care, and attention are beyond what I've ever imagined. Especially when it comes to helping, maintaining, and making sure all parts are covered. They both have taught me so many life values and I think of them as a second family to go back to. There are more than what words can say to tell someone what kind of hearts these people have. (Hint: They're very loving) I stayed in a comfortable private room with a bathroom attached! The work was very reasonable, lots of good food and smiles and joy to be shared. I learned how to do many, many things I haven't before which at first felt bewildering but now feel more manageable. Lots of birds, dogs, chickens, and the few puppies that are finding new homes now! The birds that would land on my shoulders or sit on my fingers were nice, and there shall also be lots of love from the dogs too. I believe it's an amazing thing that they're doing here, and in this big world, there's no one like Linda and Bernie. I would highly highly recommend staying here, to learn, to experience, to discover more of what you like, and to feel freer in the space you're in. 1000/10 and would definitely love to come again 💚 Much love, Kevin

James was an incredible host for us. We stayed one week in his pretty house with him and his cute cat Bandit 🥰. He saved us as we were lost arriving in Canada. James is so kind and generous, we had great discussions and laugh together. We cleaned up his house a little bit and enjoyed cooking french recipes for him. He helped us a lot giving us many informations about the region. We went together doing a night ride around the city and also offered us a big great breakfast in his favourite place. We had the chance to discover his working place which is so coool!!! Thanks again for everything 🙏
