I had such a wonderful time staying with Ged and Kathy. From the very beginning, they made me feel incredibly welcome and at home. Their farm is a beautiful place, and it was a real pleasure to spend time there. The horses are absolutely amazing – well cared for, friendly, and clearly loved. It was a privilege to be around them and learn more about life on the farm. I truly appreciate the kindness, generosity, and hospitality that Ged and Kathy showed me during my stay. They created such a warm and positive environment, and I enjoyed every moment of my time there. I can wholeheartedly recommend staying with Ged and Kathy to anyone looking for an authentic, enjoyable, and memorable farm experience. Thank you both so much for everything – I will always look back on my time there with fond memories.

Elli was a great help around the property. She was happy to help with work in the forest, and did a great job in the garden.

I really enjoyed having Stevie and Jade around. Together and separately they were good company at meals and other times. Willing to help with everyday tasks they made my life easier during their stay.

This was my first Workaway and one of the best experiences of my life. Martel and Salvador are extremely welcoming and friendly and I will forever be grateful for the experience they gave me. the ranch is gorgeous, the dogs and cat are sweet, watering the plants is peaceful, and the caretaker Juan Pablo is kind. I highly recommend staying at the ranch.

I had a great Time with Sam and Brandon I stayed about 2 weeks and they were super welcoming ! they are syper knowledgeable about the horses great place to learn ! All the animal were super sweet ! i also help them at their cafe as i have experience. Sam is always up for a coffee or eating out with you beautiful place &beautiful people ! thank you ❤️ i will see you guys again for sure thank you for everything

Nos encantó nuestra estancia con Jaqueline en Utz Kill. Admiramos profundamente su labor al mantener vivas las recetas y métodos de cocina tradicionales. Su familia, incluyendo a su madre, padre, tía, tío, hermano y hermana, fue encantadora. El pueblo de San Antonio fue muy amable y acogedor con nosotros. Fue genial pasar dos semanas en el pueblo sin hablar inglés. Esto nos ayudó mucho a aprender español. Gracias, Jaqueline y Tito, por esta maravillosa experiencia.

I truly had a wonderful time staying with this family. Steven and Alexia were incredibly kind, and their two daughters, Kismet and Leela, were so adorable, energetic, and fun to be around. I am still learning English, so there were times when I couldn’t communicate smoothly or misunderstood things. Even so, they were always patient and kind with me. Not only that, but they gave me the opportunity to experience the unique lifestyle of Salt Spring Island in so many ways. We went camping, visited the beach, and spent time at the pool. Every day was enjoyable, and it was truly a memorable experience. They also introduced me to many of their friends, who were all very friendly and welcoming. I am deeply grateful for everyone’s kindness. I highly recommend staying with this family. They made my time on Salt Spring Island truly special. Thank you so much for everything.

Amazing!!! Even though it was my first workaway experience and I was unsure at first, Annie and her family made me feel like I've always been there and helped me out with EVERYTHING. It was such an unique way to see, help and learn at the same time and it did not feel like hard work to me, more like an exchange of knowledge while having fun. I loved staying with Annie and her daughter because we hit it off right from the beginning and the communication ( as well as food lol ) was awesome!! Working with Del was also very interesting , she showed me soo much and I was always eager to help out. Tasks are different everyday which I find pretty refreshing. She is really fit so you need to be fast to keep up 😂. All in all I would highly recommend if you're looking for a realistic aussie farm experience away from big cities and glitter with focus on a good time and experience. ( PS : They took me to some pretty cool sightseeing touri stuff on my "free hours" and I think these few weeks I spend with them were just perfect. ) Thank you sm for letting me stay with and learn from you.

The benefit of online platforms where you meet people is that they provide the introduction — but you still need do your due diligence to find the right fit and trust your gut. When it works well, you're grateful for this system that introduced you to someone truly special. Leni is one such person. In the simplest terms she's an ethical, fun, smart, caring, and a thoughtful "mensch." She is reliable, trustworthy, and keeps her word — qualities that matter enormously when someone is living in your home and caring for your animals. She has excellent communication skills, is highly skilled and creative, and brought genuine curiosity and appreciation to everything she did. She does a great job at whatever she takes on. In addition to helping out and blending seamlessly into our home, she became our friend. Work-wise, she was on top of her tasks, anticipated things that needed to be done without being asked, and researched environmentally thoughtful ways to approach projects. She even built a platform for a pigeon who took a liking to my balcony and was laying eggs — we now have at least two baby chicks who survived due to her diligence. And all of this says everything about who she is. The dogs loved her and she bonded deeply with them. I'm so grateful we had this time together and I highly recommend her to anyone seeking support.

Michael and Aurora felt like they are my family, really. I stayed at their place for 28 days and I learned a lot about many things: pruning, mulching, weeding, harvesting fruits like bananas and pineapples from their land. They shared a lot of food while being there 😍, like their red bananas from their veganic land and they were so tasty. We did meditation and gratitude together everyday, they were sharing their knowledge on meditation which was quite interesting and they helped me to learn more about fruits from the Amazon rainforest 😋. I also enjoyed swimming in the river of their land which is 2-3 min walk far away. 🌻🌻🌻🌻 Thank you a lot for everything. With love, Dimitris!

What a fun and loving family! I stayed for 7 weeks with my friend and we had a such great time. The work was mainly normal household chores but we also did some maintenance in the garden and helped sorting out the basement and did build a new floor together with Stefan. The family has great Humor and there is always something going on. They are very flexible so we had the opportunity to do quite a few trips to Reykjavik, go to the local Swimmingpool, went on a lot of long walks and thanks to Silvia, had the chance to experience an icelandic sauna. Besides their busy schedules they were always happy to to share travel tips and we will definitely „go up that mountain and look down“. ;) Thanks again Carolina

thank you anne and gilberto! we had a nice stay at their finca, doing some small construction projects. anne had a range of tasks and gave us the freedom to choose which ones we wanted to do. we had tons of great food cooked by anne or the coffee shop on the property which was really nice. views were amazing, animals everywhere and some great socializing with anne and gilberto and their daughter, idalia. overall, we enjoyed this experience! ps, we hope the kittens are doing well

Inga was a volunteer during a difficult moment at home due to the frequent and sometimes prolonged power outages my country is experiencing due to global and local issues. My gratitude for her understanding and for always being ready to take on art projects or cooking and sharing meals. Inga related well with Delci and Alexis here at home. It was perfect: Suse is such a lovely person, warm and friendly, with plenty of stories to share from her life and travels. The place is exceptionally beautiful, sea nearby, pademelons everywhere, gum trees, a whole new flora and fauna to me. As for the work, it wasn't too much, but useful: making and planting posts, filling up garden beds with soil, and protecting plants with wire. And then the trips! Thanks to Suse again, who very generously took me in her car, I could do some of the best one-day bushwalking of Tasmania: Creekton Falls, the Hippo and the South East Cape, the Grove of Giants etc etc. She really allowed free expression to my desire to roam. The last mention goes to the accommodation, the old tractor shack, nicely renovated and very snug, when the fire is crackling in the stove and the chill of the winter kept out. Good memories. How many times, around six pm, dark and the sky had more stars than I'd ever seen, I walked to Suse's place, a few pademelons hopping in the night, I opened the door, and bright inside, dinner ready! Thanks Suse, and so long!

Alyssa and Curtis were absolutely amazing hosts! As this was my first time arriving in Canada, they went above and beyond to help me navigate the transition and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. They opened their home to us with kindness, generosity, and genuine care. The children were wonderful and so much fun to spend time with. Throughout our stay, Alyssa and Curtis communicated clearly, were respectful of our time, and always made sure we felt comfortable. We never felt overworked and truly appreciated the balance they created between helping out and enjoying the experience. We are incredibly grateful for their support, hospitality, and friendship. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough to any future Workawayers!

I spent 20 days volunteering at the compound, and it was an unforgettable experience, truly eye-opening! The compound is beautiful and a great place to learn about music, languages (Pulaar, Wolof, Mandinga, French, and English), local plants and their uses, and much more. I'm sure the exchange of knowledge will become even better once the library is ready! :) At first, the place felt pretty crazy, full of surprises all the time. Once you enter the compound, time seems to stop existing. Any activity can happen and plans can change at any moment. All kinds of people come to visit every day, from kids to elders. Some come just for an ataya, while others stay for days. Sometimes what happens in the compound is so absurd that it becomes hilarious. It is truly a wonderful and super welcoming community. You will meet many inspiring people (Safi, Adama, Ablai, and Talata are the firsts). The tasks are very easy (except building djembes ;D). During the first few days, I felt like I was "working" all the time, but after a while it felt like I was hardly working at all. Every activity is simply a small contribution to a "normal" day. Rides in the "motocar" can  be an exciting part. If the plan is to go into town and buy breakfast, you might come back 3 hours later with 10 new plants, a battery for a motorbike, or an inspiring elder Rastafarian who wants to commission a drum and ends up staying at the compound for five days, spending every night chanting and drumming around the fire until sunrise ahahaha. Every night there is a fire where drumming, music, conversations, and "fire speeches" often take place. Some speeches made me think deeply; others simply left me confused ahah Either way, it's a great way to spend the evening and night. Safi is an excellent cook. She prepares delicious meals and often cooks for many people, so it can take some time. You could end up eating at any hour! "Motocar adventures" also have a big influence on meal times ahaha. Safi is a truly fantastic host. She is very funny, very supportive and makes you feel like a friend from the very beginning. Thank you so much! Adama is also an amazing person and teacher. Despite all the daily missions he had to take care of, he taught me many traditional rhythms and how to skin a djembé. Thank you very much!  He also tried to teach me how to drive the motocar, but that was definitely not one of my talents ahah and many other things. Adama has endless energy, keeping up with him is impossible, don't even try! Sometimes, with everything happening in the compound, it can feel a bit overwhelming. Escaping to the beach is a great solution :) Talata is the star. I can't really describe her in words. She will steal everything you have, your heart included ahaha She is what makes the stay so special. A final tip: if you're planning to build your own djembé, this is a great place to do it. However, make sure to bring good-quality rope from Europe, and at every step ask Adama and Ablai to check that you've done it correctly. Otherwise, you might lose a lot of time and find yourself on an odyssey that ends with a trip to Dakar to ask someone else to finish it! I'd also recommend bringing some guitar strings. :) I hope to come back one day,  to learn some drumming "full power mode", help with the library and meet again all the wonderful people. This host is excellent! Everyone from the cleaners to the kitchen staff are extremely kind and very easy to work with. The owner emir is a very good person and he is always looking out for the wellbeing of the staff and volunteers. As for the work itself it is very laid back and emir is always around if you are ever unsure what to do. It is also flexible hours and leaves a lot of free time to explore the country! The acomadation is also very good it has a kitchen shower and everything you would need. I cannot recommend this place enough Definetly check it out! I am happy to have been apart of the whole family and it's something I won't forget anytime soon.

I had a great experience volunteering here! I volunteered for 6 weeks from the beginning of March to mid-April helping mostly with the charging and showers projects. While volunteering, I felt I learned a lot about the situation in Dunkirk, and I felt that the organization does a good job at improving the situation for the people living in the camps. The coordinators prioritized the safety and well-being of the volunteers, and everyone felt approachable if I ever had a question or needed something. The social environment in the warehouse was also great, and I enjoyed getting to know the other volunteers while I was there.
