  We are a small family living off grid in The Gambia and we are building a community library space. Our compound is a peaceful place where we welcome people who want to experience real village life and help with simple projects and enjoy being together.

  You can experience real West African village life intertwined with music and gentle, slow peaceful days. Adama is a griot (A storyteller through music) so you can learn about traditional drums and rhythms and you will always join our family life and share food and connect with our community on a much deeper level than as a tourist’.

  Ayuda

  We need help with caring for our toddler (Workawayers will never be asked to take care of our toddler alone. Any help with her will always be alongside me or her father and it will be light and supportive) and watering the garden and raking and painting. Any arty crafty contributions are welcome and cooking and washing and sweeping are always appreciated. There is also the chance to help tune drums and make drums and join in with small building projects and other DIY work around the compound.

  Alojamiento

  We offer a single room, double room or a tent that we will provide. We will also give you fresh bedding and pillows so you do not need to bring your own. The space is beautiful and you will be living close to the nature.
  
  We provide three meals a day as part of the exchange.

  In your time off you can walk to the beach or visit local villages or join music nights in the area. There is local transport by shared taxi and bush taxis if you want to explore further. We keep things calm and friendly and we appreciate people who help keep the compound clean and peaceful.
