I felt incredibly comfortable right from the start and wasn’t just welcomed as a guest, but truly treated like part of the family. The atmosphere in the house was very warm, open, and relaxed, which made my stay really enjoyable. The kids were just so cute, full of life, and a lot of fun. It was lovely spending time with them. Kathrine and Sebastian are also wonderful, open-minded people who you instantly get along and can laugh a lot with. The time we spent together was definitely one of the highlights for me. The location is also ideal: it’s very easy to get to Wellington by train, which is perfect for day trips. At the same time, the beach is just a short bike ride away. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would repeat in a heartbeat. I can wholeheartedly recommend this family!

Charles est une personne facile à vivre, qui aime les animaux et qui s'entend très bien avec eux. Toujours disposé à donner un coup de main à la maison. Il a beaucoup d'énergie et les travaux qui exigent de la force lui vont bien. Il a beaucoup amélioré son niveau d'espagnol pendent son séjour chez nous. C'était un plaisir de travailler avec lui.

We had a fantastic week volunteering with Bernardo, Maca, the kids and the other volunteers! The farm is beautiful… good vibes and lovely people sharing and building together! We will miss the morning yoga in front of the fire under the giant Oak tree… the home cooked lunches by volunteers from all over the world… and sharing travel stories while we work on building the house together. We hope to visit again soon, thank you!! 🙏🏼

Luckily Cordelia reached out to us and we got to spend almost two weeks at her stunning place in West Auckland! She's a very intelligent, inspiring and generous woman and her dog Suzi is truly the cutest and easiest dog ever. We had a lot of nice conversations, went to a nice river, she showed us the beach that's just a short walk through the bush away and we played lots of games together! Her profile is very accurate and everything is like she described it! Our accommodation was a lovely private cabin in her beautiful garden! The work was really fun and depending on your skills she'll find stuff for you to do! It never got boring and the working time was totally fair. We would always work in the mornings and then have lunch together and in the afternoon we had plenty of time to go out to explore! If you like to cook, she'll be more than if you make dinner on some days. If that's not the case she's a great chef and will make you delicious vegan whole food meals! The area is full of beautiful beaches and places to explore and Cordelia gave us a lot of great recommendations! We also loved to spend time with Suzi and are very grateful that Cordelia let us take her on walks and adventures on our days off! We would 100% recommend her place if you love being in nature and are into gardening or working outdoors!

We spent four great months with Julie and couldn’t have asked for a better Workaway experience. From the very beginning Julie made us feel very welcome, trusted, and at home. During our stay we helped with a wide range of DIY projects around the house — painting, tiling, log stacking, and lots of small fixes that were genuinely interesting to tackle and learn from. In the garden we built new garden beds, remodelled the compost area, created a natural hedge, and took on plenty of hands‑on outdoor tasks. Julie gave us a lot of freedom to choose what to work on, which made the experience relaxed, creative, and satisfying. A real highlight was spending time with her lovely dog, Barney. Our frequent walks with him became one of the best parts of our routine. Julie herself is a generous, understanding, and flexible host. She communicated clearly, supported us whenever needed, and always treated us with kindness and respect. We felt trusted and appreciated throughout our stay. She was brilliant and accomodating. We’re grateful for the months we shared with her, and we’ll definitely keep in touch — hopefully returning in the future. Highly recommended.

Easily one of the most productive, and skilled people we have had help around our property. Enjoyed spending time with Thimo and providing an environment where he could relax and enjoy our farm.

We loved the stay with Elena and Edelmo so much. The place is so authentic, valuable, and beautiful it's hard to believe. We were welcomed to the home and community like family and cared for deeply. Work-wise we mostly focused on collecting and preparing firewood for the upcoming winter, which is a thoughtful and necessary work considering how much of wood is used to keep the house cozy. One day we also helped Elena make peach jam, which was also an exotic and interesting experience for us. We learned a lot about Chilean culture, got to try the national dishes (everything Elena prepares is so good and full of heart!), and prepare our own national dishes to the community. The nature and landscapes around are one of the most beautiful in all of Patagonia. You can do fishing, hiking, rafting, etc in your free time. The family home is cozy and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. All in all we appreciate the experience deeply and will remember it forever, definitely the highlight of our time in Chile!

We have had such a lovely week with Grace, which was so nice with us. We had to help her with gardening in the morning. She was there with us to give us indications and advice. She is also a wonderful cook and tried to adjust her meals so we could always eat and feel welcomed. We definitely recommend anyone to stay with Grace, you will love your stay there !

The time i had with Liz and Tom at their beautiful hostel was unforgettable. Some of the nicest and most welcoming people I’ve ever met. From the minute I arrived to moment I left I felt welcome and amongst friends. The hostel itself is beautiful , well cared for due to the great staff that works there everyday, Steps away from the beach, and is visited by a fruit truck every other day. The gig itself is simple and Liz explains the process very well. My two months there are amongst the best. Gracias por todo amigos.

Andre quickly became a part of our family. We enjoyed getting to know each other and spending time together, both while working and on weekends/evenings. Andre is a very hard worker and very skilled. He helped us build our chicken pen and he is a skilled mig welder. We would recommend Andre to anyone and would readily welcome him back for a visit or vacation.

Mey and Björn were great to has as workawayers. They kind of came to us somewhat last minute, for us perfect timing as we had spring break and the kids were home. We had a chat beforehand and it, right away, felt like a good fit. They communicate very clear and polite. Right from the start they worked hard and asked questions if needed. They did so much ( spring cleaning!) , and played with our youngest a lot. He had a blast! At night we played so many board games, this was so fun! We had great conversations, laughs and liked sharing of our culture and language . I loved giving Björn and Mey a home away from home. What a lovely, hard working, generous and adventurous couple! We will miss them

This is was my first ever volunteer experience, and I don't think that I could have chosen a better place. The hosts, Martina and José, are brilliant business owners and very kind people. The manager of the hostel, Wendy, is extremely kind and was always patient in showing me the ropes of my tasks. The main tasks for volunteers includes checking people in and out, fixing beds, and some small miscellaneous tasks that may come up. After a couple of days and with the warm help from the hosts, Wendy, and other volunteers, I was able to manage the tasks well. My work schedule was very reasonable and gave me plenty of time to explore Bogotá and even other parts of Colombia. Bogotá is a wonderful city with so many things to do. I visited other cities in Colombia like Medellín and Cartagena, but still prefer Bogotá over them. The hostel is a great environment. It is a smaller hostel, which encourages more quality social experiences. Even though I am a little more introverted, it was so easy to make friends and speak to others at the hostel. The guests are all respectful and I never had a negative experience with any of them. Even if you cannot volunteer here, I highly recommend staying at the hostel if you pass through Bogotá. I had an unforgettable experience volunteering here and cannot recommend this place enough!

It is hard to put into words my experience at Crystal and Doug's magical mountain retreat. Here I experienced true love, community, and peace. With no electricity, clocks, artificial light-- every day was joyfully spent living by the rising and setting of the sun, the light of the moon, candles at night, and animals all the time. My living accommodation was a wonderful private cabin with the best bird watching I've experienced in Ecuador, a deck and hammock, and plenty of surrounding land to take care of and give back to. With fresh abundant spring water every day, delicious fresh veggies from Crystal's garden, homemade sourdough and sauerkraut, ginger tea, cacao water, and fruits from the local market-- I was very nourished the whole time. The kitchen is wonderful with its own incredible view. The emphasis on freedom is huge here, and I also found everything to flow super well every day. Workdays varied, but every day was fruitful in its own way. I developed lots of gardening skills with Crystal and worked on my natural building skills. I also learned and played volleyball while watching gorgeous sunsets over the mountain every day. I cannot recommend this place enough for those interested in connecting deeper to themselves, a small lovely community, and the earth and nature itself. Thank you Doug and Crystal for an unforgettable two weeks, next time I will definitely be staying longer :)

I had an amazing time here , from the very beginning, I was welcomed so warmly and the people made me feel completely at home. During my stay I learned a lot about Colombian culture and had the chance to meet a lot of wonderful people, which made my time in ZIpa very special. The apartment I stayed in was fantastic as well, and a perfect place to relax after teaching. Teaching the classes was fun, interactive, and I really enjoyed connecting with the students and being part of their learning process. It has been an unforgettable experience, and Zipa will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for everything!

We had such a special time staying with Lauren and Lou and couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We were lucky enough to be there before, during and after the festival, which was honestly such a highlight. Getting to see everything come together and actually be part of it made the whole stay feel really unique. A lot of the work we did was helping prepare the festival grounds: Setting things up, getting everything ready, and just doing whatever was needed. It was pretty full-on at times since it was their busiest period, but it never felt stressful in a bad way. The vibe stayed really positive and everyone just got stuck in together. We learned heaps along the way, not just from the different tasks but also from living and working together. Lauren and Lou made us feel super welcome from day one, and we had such a good time with them and the other amazing Workawayers. So many laughs, good chats, and shared moments. We’re really grateful for the whole experience and would 100% recommend staying with them. Thanks again for everything!

Crystal and Doug were outstanding hosts. I stayed with them for just over two weeks and found the experience extremely rewarding. They are very oriented towards providing a valuable space for volunteers, and acted out of what felt like pure kindness the whole time. You will be very well fed and have plenty of time to use the space in whatever way you need. The absence of phones and artificial light is definitely worth experiencing. I highly recommend volunteering here!! It's also a place that attracts other interesting and fun travelers, so you will definitely find a good sense of community as well.

I stayed with Camilo and his family for a few days back in 2025. He is a great person to hang out with and his family is amazing! His mum cooks the best food and welcomed me like family. I was there from Camilos and Felipes birthday so I joined a Cabelgata with family and friends, where we ended up doing an activity catching bulls with a lasso. What a crazy experience! I was also invited to join to a bonfire with all his friends. The horses are all in great shape and healthy. In general the whole place is beautiful and well taken care off. If you go there please beat Camilo in monopoly deal for me!!!

the stay on the Farm was very chill and super easy going! Clive picked me up at the train station and than I could do some shopping for the week. the tasks where not too much to ask for and if you are looking for some peace and a quiet place to stay you are absolutely right. if you want to explore a lot and get in touch with locals or other people you will a 100% need a car or they give you sometimes a lift to the train station if you ask to go into town for example. very beautiful property and a stay I would recommend with a lot of privacy!

Gina and Miza are awesome creatures. They are both so very talented in music and have many laughs. The first couple days I helped load their gear for some music shows at local venues. They are both very chill people and know a lot of others in the community. I really enjoyed going to the venues and listening to the performances. They always made sure I was enjoying my time and introduced me to their friends. What was really appreciated was the amount of English that they and all their friends spoke. OMG that made it so much easier and more enjoyable because my Spanish is terrible. I laughed so much sometimes at Gina's and Miza's stories. Thanks to them and their friends the brewery stays in business. We had a BBQ with delicious chicken and beef and many other delicious food. Meche and Annie, their friends are incredible couple. Gina's brother, Edoardo, is a great guy and very talented, too. Monica, Gina's friend is, well, absolutely adorable. The projects involved repairing plumbing and electricity in the house, and clearing a water main from flooding. Also, the gazebo at the beach was a huge project that required greater detail and consideration. We had a good time in the pool and sun during the visit. We ate tasty food from a small local restaurant, fresh fish from the sea. It was really good. Miza and Gina wouldn't let me pay for much so I had to insist on getting rid of the pesos because I was leaving the country. They made sure I had everything I needed and include me in all the activities. This really felt more like a vacation than a work project, which is difficult for me because I recently retired and am only know learning how to shift gears to slower pace and enjoy life. We laughed about that and always me wanting to schedule more work. They are awesome and so is the dog, Matiki. I hope to return some day soon.

I had such a lovely stay with Jess and Jeremy, they’re incredibly easygoing, flexible, and made me feel welcome from the very start. The workload was clearly structured, which gave me the freedom to organise my time in a way that suited me. I also felt very spoiled with the delicious shared meals each evening! All in all, I would wholeheartedly recommend staying with them, it truly felt like a home away from home. And their little son is an absolute delight full of charm and such a fun, sweet personality!
