Our time at the lodge in Riske Creek was an experience we will never forget. From the very first day, Brenda, Kurt, and Kris made us feel welcome. What started as a Workaway stay quickly turned into something much more—we found a second family. Brenda is one of the kindest and most caring people we have ever met. She works incredibly hard, always looks after everyone around her, and somehow manages to stay positive and cheerful no matter what the day brings. Kurt is a true problem solver with a wonderful sense of humor. There seems to be nothing he cannot fix, and he always has a solution ready. Kris is hardworking, easygoing, and great to be around. Together, they create an atmosphere that is warm, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming. Our work was varied, interesting, and rewarding. We cleaned and prepared the beautiful guest rooms, helped with cooking and baking, served and looked after guests, made and stacked lots of firewood, cared for the property, and assisted with the many different tasks that come with running a busy lodge. No two days were exactly the same, which kept the work enjoyable and engaging. One thing we especially appreciated was the flexibility. We always had a lot of freedom in organizing our work and schedule, which allowed for a healthy balance between helping at the lodge and exploring the area. The Chilcotin region is absolutely stunning, with endless opportunities for outdoor adventures and some of the most beautiful scenery in British Columbia. More than anything, however, it was the people who made this place special. We arrived as Workawayers and left feeling like family. Saying goodbye was incredibly difficult, and we are already doing everything we can to return one day. We cannot recommend this Workaway highly enough to anyone looking for meaningful work, wonderful hosts, beautiful surroundings, and an authentic Canadian experience.

I had the most amazing week at Alena's place. Fushiogami is a most beautiful piece of Japanese country side. The house provided for my stay was very large, really clean and had everything you could possibly need. During my stay I spent some time walking Willy and Billy the VIG (Very Important Goats) which was my favorite wwoofing activity by far. Willy and Billy are the cutest and most gentle pets, I really enjoyed caring for them. the other tasks were dusting around the house (when rainy) or helping around the garden or rice fields. I was also very glad to spend some time with Alena, who showed me and advised me on the surrounding possible activities. I will for sure come back if I ever get the chance to travel again to Japan. Thank you so much 🙏🏼

Ellie and Max stayed with me for about # weeks. It was my first experience with a couple , and what a fabulous experience it was. They are respectful delightful. kind and efficient. They are both welcome back anytime. Highly recommend them both. thank you to them both.

If you need some peace and quiet from busy touristy areas on Oahu this is a place where you can connect with calm nature. You have a nice secluded area on your off time to read, cook and write. Walter and his family give you the tools to do work around the land and were flexible when needed to make some schedule adjustments. The work was not overly demanding but be prepared to sweat a little! They give you food to cook and there are fresh fruits on the property. I was only there for about 3 weeks but I would go back if the opportunity arises! If you want to landscape and do cool projects on the land, don't hesitate to stop by on Oahu. They were nice to lend me a bicycle to get around the island but if you want to do super long distance road biking you might want to get something while you are there. Para quien lea esto quiero que sepa que James es una persona muy especial, dinámica, colaboradora, fuerte, y que es la persona que cualquiera quiere tener como visitante, las palabras me sobran para agradecer tu ayuda, esfuerzo y dinamismo, mis dos últimos visitantes me han devuelto la esperanza en la humanidad y que cooperando avanzamos y crecemos más... recuerda siempre que aquí en colombia tienes una amigo y una casa donde volver. My friend and I stayed for 2 weeks at Alec's place, and a had a wonderful time - we couldn't have felt more welcome and at home. Alec is a great guy, really kind and funny. We became friends very quickly. Most of my work was helping construct a section of the roof, while my friend painted a mural. Alec is very conscious of only having volunteers work the stated 2 hours. I definitely recommend staying here. Thank you so much Alec, we'll miss you and all the dogs!

Although leon was with us for not to long, think we got lots done together….. great flexibility helper…… some good laughs wherever it was needed or just because he goofed around…..thanks for your help !

First of all i we got to apologize for the delay in leaving a review….. busy busy it slipped…. What a great time we had, at least how i see it, Gesa just fit in like we knew her for a long time…. Great conversations! The movie nights and yes, her help was much appreciated…. Although working here has always been flexible , adjusting work to weather or what felt best ob how to tackle a project…once we got a plan, Gesa was right on pulling her weight…. In her free time she enjoyed doing her own thing, getting together again for dinner….. We met 2 x after she left us already and are looking forward having Gesa over any time as a friend of the family….bibi misses her already

Staying with Rob at the castle was something really special. It feels a bit like stepping into another time, the whole property is truly impressive. I helped Rob with some paperwork, which was a nice change from outdoor/garden work. At the same time, seeing all the administrative work behind the scenes does take a little bit of the “magic” away from the place. Rob really makes sure that you are well taken care of and have everything you need in terms of food and comfort. One of the highlights for me was seeing little blue penguins in the wild for the first time 🐧 You also have quite a lot of freedom in how you organise your workday, which I really appreciated. One thing to keep in mind: you should definitely not be afraid of dogs, as the Border Collie Pup loves giving kisses 😄

Hannah and Simon were a wonderful addition to our home and project. They tackled some very hard physical jobs for us, including digging a path and helping with concreting work, and they did an excellent job throughout learning and applying new skills. They were hardworking, reliable and always willing to help wherever needed. They were also incredibly accommodating and flexible when our plans changed and other people needed to stay on longer than expected. Their positive attitude and understanding were greatly appreciated. Beyond the work itself, we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. We shared a couple of lovely dinners together and genuinely enjoyed their company. It felt more like having friends stay than Workawayers. Thank you , Hannah and Simon, for all your hard work, kindness, and good company as well as being able to share good news about their new addition to your whanau. We would happily recommend you to any future hosts.

I feel incredibly blessed to have met Yvonne & Danny 🥹 They literally went above and beyond to take care of me and make me feel at home. I couldn’t have asked for a better home away from home. There were so many wonderful synchronicities and things we had in common, and I felt like we were meant to cross paths. The home itself is gorgeous, the work was just the right balance of giving me something to do whilst remaining low pressure. They are humble, generous, compassionate souls and I feel the whole world has opened up to me now knowing that you can find wonderful friends wherever you go. I feel certain that we will meet again, and I hope to be able to return the favour xx

I'm so glad that I didn't miss the opportunity to spend such a special time at The Beautiful Lab with Vaidas and everyone there. The experience offered the perfect balance of meaningful work, freedom, and good vibes. I loved being part of such a warm and inspiring community while also having the chance to explore and enjoy the local area. Living in Tuy Hoa and experiencing Vietnam and its culture in a way that goes far beyond regular travel taught me so much. From the very beginning, I felt safe, supported, and genuinely welcomed. Vaidas, Danny, and Timmy were always there whenever I needed help, and by the end of my stay they had become much more than hosts — they had become friends. Thank you all for making this experience so memorable. I wish you nothing but the best, and I truly hope our paths cross again someday.

Kélig and Emilien stayed with us for one month and were an absolute pleasure to have on site. They are highly skilled handymen, very efficient, and consistently delivered work of an exceptionally high standard. They completed double the expected workload, often going beyond what was asked without needing supervision once instructions were given. Their ability to understand what needed to be done and take initiative was outstanding. Communication was excellent throughout, and they worked seamlessly as a team while also being independent, responsible, and fully trustworthy. Kélig and Emilien are a happy, delightful couple, and we would gladly recommend them for any similar role or prospective farm work. I am also happy to be contacted to provide a reference.

Vincent is a really nice guy, who is very willing to work- he works hard, and is happy to do a lot in a day. He does need detailed instruction for jobs, as rural work doesn’t come natural to him. We had some interesting conversations.

It was great experience with Marcela, we are really glad to have her. She is such kind, helpful and cheerful person. She is always willing to help us. She is with great personality , easy going. We highly recommended her. Always welcome back🙏🙏.

We had an amazing time staying with Kathrien and Sven and can highly recommend this Workaway experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcome and quickly felt like part of the family. The work was fair and enjoyable, and they always appreciated our help. We were provided with delicious meals every day, even on our days off, which was incredibly generous. The accommodation is excellent, with a private apartment, bathroom, and kitchen, offering plenty of comfort and privacy. They also went above and beyond by helping us find work in Australia and even sold us an awning for our car at a very fair price and helped install it. Oscar, their lovely dog, was an added bonus! The property is peaceful and close enough to Gympie for shopping and anything else you might need. Thank you both for your kindness, generosity, and all the great memories. We truly enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again someday!

Saskia and Daniel stayed with us for two weeks. They are an amazing people and a beautiful couple. They are able to think outside the box, see what needs to be done, work independently and don't shy away from difficult tasks. Their military background certainly shines through in everything they do. They are honest, fun and absolutely great to have around! We were sad to see them go and miss them already. We wish them all the best and know they will excel in everything they do.

Laxmi and Krishna have received my two kids and I Iike family. The connection was immediate and the kids left having now two nepalis grand-parents :) This place is most of all about sharing. y It's an real immersion in nepali life. Laxmi and Krishna really love receiving volunteers (they have done so for the past 10 years!) and share with them. Together, you will talk over tea, prepare chapati, work in the field, play Uno Flip, laugh, visit nearby stream and temple. Laxmi and Krishna are full of kindness and will for sure make you feel at home! The place is also about simplicity. Bedroom, shower, toilet, food are all nice and simple. Real rural life and still access to the market for anything you would want. My kids' highlights were cooking chapatipati and special sugar mix tea ;) , working and picking up delicious fruits and vegetables with Krishna, playing cards with Laxmi and Shiva, playing with Tomy the dog and going to the stream! The place is so beautiful, green and peaceful! We really have enjoyed our time here. Thank you Laxmi and Krishna <3

I had an unforgettable and truly enjoyable two weeks with Janice, Darry, Sydney and Amber. I was a little nervous at the beginning as a first-time Workaway volunteer, but Janice was incredibly patient and took the time to explain everything to me. She always spoke with me openly and as an equal, and shared a lot about the local history, how farming developed in Nokomis, and many other interesting stories. The whole family welcomed me with kindness and made me feel at home. They were always willing to answer my questions, even when I felt some of them were probably a bit silly. They never made me feel embarrassed and always gave thoughtful answers. The two weeks were busy, but in the best possible way. I enjoyed every day because it felt meaningful and rewarding. Everything felt so comfortable and natural, and I truly felt included. Words can't fully express how grateful, touched, and thankful I am for this experience. I will always look back on these two weeks with fond memories. I wish Janice, Darry, and their family all the very best, good health, happiness, and success in everything they do. ❤️

My husband and I stayed with Gabi and her kids for two weeks. It was a last minute arrangement and it was a win-win for all of us. Gabi is a thoughtful, caring, funny, outgoing person with a huge heart. We helped in the garden, with landscaping, cleaning the pool, motorcycle repair, toilet repair, general cleaning, and assisting Gabi with her project teaching kids about keeping the environment clean from trash. Gabi is non-stop busy, in a good way, and always invited us to join in on her adventures. This was great because we got to meet many locals and visit many places with her. We shared wonderful homemade meals (Gabi is a great cook!) at home and also ate out together a few times. Lily and Max, her kids, are kind and respectful and fun. Her three cats are adorable as well. There are also two bicycles available to use which was great! The accommodation couldn’t have been better. A private room with fan and A/C, shower, toilet and fully equipped outdoor kitchen. Gabi is very easy going and allows you to join in with all activities or to take it easy and relax on your own as needed. The work was varied, fun, and satisfying. We knew before meeting her that we would have a great time together and we certainly did. If you have the opportunity to volunteer for Gabi you won’t be disappointed!
