  Our place is a 13 room boutique hotel in a small northern town in Canada’s north. We cater to tourists and businesses travellers. There is a large garden and several families living on our 55 acre property. We’re on the banks of the liard river where the mighty makenzie river joins and combines with the liard river on its way to the Arctic Ocean. Recreation opportunities are river trips on the liard, makenzie and the famous Nahanni river. The host is a pilot and there are opportunities for mountain adventures and time in the wilderness. We’re looking for someone to take over the hotel so we can travel three or four months in the winter. We can pay a wage and offer free accommodation. We’re 1400 kms from the closest large city and you would need to arrainge travel to Fort Simpson. Basic duties would be cleaning rooms and main areas in the hotel, answering phone and taking bookings, charging credit cards and updating reservation systems. Being a handy person and ensuring the biomass boiler is running and supplied with wood chips would be a bonus. We’re hoping g to have someone here in February 2025 for a few weeks to a month or two.

  Fort simpson is a small aboriginal community in the NWT in Canada. We’re still very connected to the land. we harvest our food and depend on it for a majority of our sustenance. The small community of 1200 is mainly aboriginal dene and there are cultural events such as drum dances where your welcome to participate.

  General help around the house cleaning rooms and yard maintenance in summer or cutting firewood in winter. Many projects are planned and energy efficiency and sustainability are key goals. A wood chip heating system for the hotel as well as district heating for several residential units are ongoing projects. Gardening and permaculture ideals are our guiding principles.
