We are a small homestead on a 155 acre forested property, my husband (51), myself (44) and many animals. We live a in pretty remote location with the nearest city being 1.5 hours away. We have 3 big dogs (and sometimes many puppies) so you must be a person who loves dogs. We currently have 12 goats, 3 cows, chickens and turkeys, all of which are free range so you need to be someone who is not afraid of farm animals. We spend most of our time working on the homestead which involves taking care of the animals, maintaining things, gardening, collecting firewood, lawn maintenance, and fencing. In our spare time we enjoy camp fires, swimming in our natural pool, hiking, saunas, spending time with friends and trail building/maintenance. If you are someone who enjoys nature you will love it here! We have built approximately 5km of walking trails and 10km of snowmobiling trails on our property which also backs on to hundreds of acres of crown land waiting to be explored. The location of our homestead is in northern BC in the ancient forest which is home to many huge trees and lots of wildlife (bears, moose, elk, deer, linx ect.). There are a few beautiful creeks and the Fraser River not far from us as well as some beautiful provincial hiking spots. There are only about 20 other families that live in Dome Creek and the only amenities here are a post office, library and coffeehouse which is open 1 day per week during the summer months. We are located just West of the Rocky Mountains and Jasper National Park is a train ride away (you can catch the train in town). We are looking for people who are down to earth and enjoy the simple things in life. Access to our property is by train (via rail) or possible pick up in Prince George, BC or if you have your own vehicle you can drive here.

We often have campfires which is a place where we socialize, play music and laugh. We have several instruments you could learn to play.

There is a community get together held every Friday night at different community members home so you will have a chance to meet and socialize with some locals as well.

In the summer months we have a get together with our friends/neighbours once a month at our home. Where we have campfires, play games and enjoy music.

Usually once a month there is a community event which is games night or karaoke.

We can offer people a look into what it is like to live in a remote area and be mostly self sustaining. Being remote we can offer people the experience to do some creative building and learn to think outside of the box.

We can offer experience in animal care and maintenance.

We hope to learn what life is like for you where you come from and learn some new skills and creative ideas that you posses.

We are looking for people to work alongside us on our homestead where you will learn a more traditional way of living and how to become more self sufficient. There are always multiple projects to work on depending on the time of year. Learn how to plant, grow and harvest a garden. Learn how we prepare for cold winters by gathering firewood and canning food for long term storage. Learn how to make meals from scratch and bake homemade goodies and bread. Assist us with some basic DIY projects. You will also learn how to care for and maintain our animals which could include making homemade cheese, yogurt and butter.

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

This is a very remote area and there are no amenities so you will be spending your time 100% in nature. We do not go to the city (Prince George) very often but we do visit the closest town (McBride) about every other week so you must bring whatever you need with you.

There is no local transportation but in your time off you could explore the area. We do have bicycles. We would be willing to take you to some local hiking/swimming/fishing spots. We have some fishing gear, if you enjoy that.

If you are in to nature/wildlife photography you would have endless opportunities for taking photos.

Or just relax, read a book, and listen to the birds while lying in our hammock overlooking the gorgeous Rocky Mountains!

Trips to Jasper National Park via train are an option at your own expense.

Absolutely no hard drugs. Alcohol and marijuana (at your own cost) are ok when not working.
We do smoke a couple of cigarettes a day but we do not smoke in the house. We do use nicotine vaporizers and we do vape in the house.

Cell phone signals and internet are limited to non- working hours.
