Help an eco-conscious family with kids, animals and gardens on a smallholding in the forest, just outside of Knysna, South Africa

We are a young family with two children 6 and 9 years old. We have lived around the world- mamma Elin is from Sweden and Papa Sam is of English, French and South African heritage. Both Elin and Sam work within the area of environmental sustainability/ climate change resilience. We love being in nature and often go on hikes or go snorkelling, surfing or body boarding in the beautiful sea. We go camping as much as we can. We also love music and art and have a great community of creatives around us.

We live on a farm just outside of Knysna in the garden route. We have just under 6ha of land, 5 horses, 2 dogs, 4 chickens and a cat. There's a growing vegetable garden, greywater system and plenty of indigenous forest to roam around in. We're looking for people who are into nature play with kids, building tree houses, exploring forests, making nature art, helping in the gardens, with the animals and with any ongoing projects on the farm. A driving license and experience driving is a must. We're looking for people who are playful, creative, nature loving and flexible, happy to go with the flow and able to work independently.

We life on a 6 ha small holding surrounded by forest whilst still cycling distance from Knysna with coffee shops and other conveniences. We are located centrally in the Garden Route which offers an extraordinary amount of nature experiences. The Gouna forest, the largest piece of indigenous forest in South Africa hosting wild elephants and caracals is our back yard......

Ayuda
We are working parents and need help with child care and taking kids to activities such as dancing and karate. We also appreciate help with driving and dropping kids at school. Other duties include helping in the gardens, feeding animals, running errands or helping with any projects on the farm. We would love someone creative and into nature and into taking kids on adventures around the farm and in the surrounding forest, building tree houses, swings and making nature art.

Our children are bilingual though their English is definitely better than their Swedish. We would love to have a Swede who could help improve their Swedish but are also open to other nationalities and our kids learning some other languages like Spanish, Portuguese and French. Having a valid drivers license and experience driving is a must.

Alojamiento
Accommodation is in a small separate cabin just next to our house with its own toilet and sink but no shower (yet). The cabin has electricity and you will have the ability to make tea etc there for yourself, and will always have a key for the back of the house to access the kitchen and shower.

There are so many things to explore in Cape Town, whether you're interested in learning to surf, hike, do social work or art or music- there is something here for everyone. We have friends who run surf schools who offer lessons for beginners and can also offer links to local NGO's and cool community initiatives doing good things.
