Hello, I live on a 50acre farm in the foothills of the Comeragh mountains. I am looking for help from April to complete a living/workshop space, and build a barn using structural bamboo, stone walling and other farm tasks on my farm.
I have a wooden clad bathroom to finish, and a lean-to shed to build.
And there will be plenty of other things to do too. Such as helping with my breeding herd of Kerry Bog ponies, maintaining young trees and some fencing and what ever else comes up. So lots of variety and opportunities to learn new skills and if you have a song in your heart you'll probably enjoy yourself here, even if the help is demanding sometimes.
My daughter and her young son (nearly 2yo) have bought some land nearby and is steadily shaping it into a working smallholding and will be building a house there this year. So she also will be grateful for help.
Your accommodation will be a caravan that has been recently restored and is comfortable but simple living. It has its own cooking facilities, fridge and water supply.
Its a quiet location with amazing walks and views, about 9 miles from the town of Clonmel, Clonmel is a medium sized town that provides most things you want and is well connected by public transport to Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Waterford and places inbetween. Generally you can give you a lift if you want to get there. There is also a bicycle you can borrow to go exploring or get to the local villages if you like. Local people and neighbours are friendly and welcoming.
Since the end of this February Ireland has removed nearly all covid restrictions. However, I still wish to be careful for the first week of your stay, so would prefer to only work together outside during this week. I also prefer people to stay for at least two weeks, as that allows both sides to get more value from the stay.
I have been a volunteer host for over 14 years. So I hope you'll find my farm welcoming. I have lived and farmed organically there for over 30 years and during that time have endeavoured to understand what sustainable living really means - a very complex subject! And to farm in a way that doesn't disturb the natural surroundings too much.

You will have the chance to experience a life with less reliance on modern systems and pressure. You may learn new skills and find new challenges that hopefully you'll benefit from.
Anybody who likes to use their hands is welcome and will find plenty to do here. It also will be helpful if you are open to learning new things. Experience is not necessary but willingness and joy are.

Caravan with electricity, cooking facilities and water supply
I will supply the food for all meals. Mostly vegetarian but can cater for other diets generally. main meal will be eaten together (when possible) and the rest can be worked out to suit
The area around my farm is traditional rural Ireland. Being a hilly and mountainous area it has not been 'modernised' as much as other parts of Ireland. There is plenty to explore, castles, old cottages, Irish music, and craic in the pubs about. The farm is 20km from the beautiful rugged and beached coast, and Dungarvan the nearest town on the coast is an old harbour town and is on the edge of a Gaeltacht region
