I can only warmly recommend Camille as Workaway! :) She stayed with me for one week during which she kept all of my dogs (4 own and 2 rescues) happy with long walks through the snow and helped me take my 3 ponies out to their field in the mornings and back to their stable at the end of the day. Since we couldn't do as much as I had planned with
… read more the ponies due to all that snow, besides the long walks with the dogs, she did some good deep cleaning of my fridges:) It was great that she knew how to work a wood stove, as that is what we heat with here and one is in the guest room. She is also very tidy and cooked a few meals! :) She left a little early due to a job back home starting sooner than expected - happy travels and good luck with your job, Camille. As I said, if you would like to house sit sometime in in the future, I would gladly trust you with my home and animals. Bring a friend :)

We didn't work with the ponies mainly because of bad weather so my main task was to take her rescue dogs on long walks in the forest. It was covered in snow, so very magical !

It was Sian and Mitch's first Workaway experience and they did a great job despite the great heat and some of my tools (trimmer, plant clippers) failing. The dogs sure loved the regular walks:) Definitely a pleasure to have around and I can only recommend them!

Lola's intended stay of at least two weeks was unfortunately cut short (4 days) due to her falling ill and deciding it would be best to return home to the US. She wasn't feeling great from the start but nevertheless was a great help taking ponies out and back in, loading rescue dogs into car and crates for vet visits and even went on a few shorter

Vanessa stayed with me almost for the entire month of June (2023) and did a fantastic job with my dogs and the rescues currently in my care before they go to their furever homes in western Europe. She went on several long dog walks (!) every day , groomed the dogs, started basic training with them, even a little agility - thus kept them well
… read more entertained :) She also was a great help taking my three ponies out to their day pastures and bringjng them back in at night and also took the ponies on a few walks. Besides the work with the animals she helped paint a fence and cut back some overgrowth in the garden. All this help was especially needed and so valuable, as I had managed to break both wrists a couple of months ago and they are still healing. Due to a family emergency Jorianne (Jojo) only got to spend one week with me before flying back to Germany. But during this week she did an excellent job with my 3 ponies, 8 dogs and 1cat :) Ponies and dogs enjoyed grooming and the dogs also longer walks, which I hadn't been able to do due to 2 broken wrists. … read more did a thorough job cutting back weeds and branches that were getting too close or already touching the electric fence around the ponies' grazing field. She was also very capable working with drill and saw and fixed a very important door to a dog kennel. It was lovely to have her and I invited her to come and house and pet sit for me sometime in the future - I can absolutely recommend her!!
We ended up extending our stay of just a few days to almost 2 weeks.
Liza made sure we had everything we needed, although having two broken wrists, and took us out for lunch and to the market one day.

Mareike and Marcel joined another couple of Workaways at mine (possible thanks to them having their own camper van) and were also real life savers because I had broken both wrists beginning of April and could not do ANYTHING myself and really needed all the help I could get! They were a great help with all of my animals, 3 ponies and 1 horse

They took the different dogs on long walks in turns with the other Workaways, Marcel did a lot of work lawn mowing and clearing up the garden. They cooked and, of course, baked some very tasty cakes and breads! I can definitely recommend them!

My feedback comes a little delayed, I stayed 6 weeks at Liza's home this autumn.
The nature is incredible and the animals are super lovely.

I also worked with her 5 year old pony Della. I started with lunging and horsemanship and in the end I took her on some incredible hacks. We even reached our goal which was going on a hack with both horses Della and Albena!
I recommend everyone that stays with Liza to do a weekend trip to Plovdiv, my favorite city in Bulgaria.

Harriet was the perfect fit for my little pony riding stable, annex temporary dog shelter! :) Without her I would have had a real problem suddenly dealing with 11 rescue dogs along with my own 3. I would only advise any non-smoker who has really big problems with smoke not to go to Bulgaria in general, as there is a lot of smoking here. That was quite a problem for me in the beginning, but you get used to it over time.

… read more problems with them even with small experience in working with horses. Sometimes we would ride out for about 4 hours and we never had any big struggles with them.
What makes this place so special isn't about the horses though. It's situated in a tiny village where as soon as you arrive you are basically adopted and everyone wants to take you on a trip somewhere. All the people we met were incredibly nice and generous and up to join us doing every crazy idea that came to our mind, like camping on one of the bunkers in the mountains. I will definitely miss all of them and I'm so glad I met them all. If you decide to go to Liza's place make sure to hang out with them as much as possible, you won't regret it! The work usually takes place in the mornings and evenings when you have to bring the horses to the field and put them back to the stable. But Liza and the horses are quite flexible about the time you do it.
If you have the chance, stop by the local store of the village to meet some of the Bulgarians living there! We met great people who actually drove all over Bulgaria with us to show us their country, prepared traditional food, and set up parties for us. It is a great opportunity to get an impression of the Bulgarian lifestyle at the countryside and make friendships that will last longer than your stay.

Liza has some brilliant stories from her amazing life that she shared as we gathered by the awesome fire pit in her garden, around the kitchen table over a glass of wine and over one of the many amazing meals that she cooked during my stay!

Kayla stayed with me for 3 weeks at my trail riding stable with (new) guestroom and in these 3 weeks got so much work done that I just cannot get done on my own next to working and the riding business and exercising the horses. She painted walls, lacquered and painted staircases, gave old furniture a new life with new coat of paint, weeded, helped
… read more me reorganize a few (storage) rooms, was up early in the mornings to feed the horses and then helped with the horse chores during the rest of the day - that girl is just unstoppable !! :) With all that going on, we still went out on a few rides to exercise the horses and to show her more of the beautiful surroundings on horseback and had fun making Mexican snacks and Margaritas - she's definitely a fantastic Workawayer and a lovely person to have around - miss her already!! … read more recommend this Workaway for people who know how to ride - The horses were wonderful to work with and if you are experienced then you can take them out yourself. I rode everyday, sometimes twice, and explored heaps of trails.

Josie came as Workaway traveller and left as a friend! She was absolutely lovely to have around and fantastic with the horses - she definitely had the experience and taught me some new tricks:) She easily took care of the horsey chores on her own, did a LOT of riding and exercising of the horses AND we went on exploration for new trail rides

I absolutely loved meeting and spending time with Liza and all of her wonderful animals!
