Sopa! (Hello!)
My name is David and I am the director of the academy here. Our school started in 2010 with a water well and has developed to become a high-quality primary school with 8 classes. We are a family of teachers, cooks, cleaners, guards, maintenance guys, students and dogs. We are a school which always wants to improve the ways we can serve the surrounding community. We have built a water tank that provides clean drinking water to the community, eliminating the disease of trachoma. There is also a well nearby, used by the local community, that provides hard water (salt water) for the washing of clothes and for animal use.
You will help to make this school a better place through your volunteering, whether it be through teaching, fundraising, marketing, computer development, managing our social media, or farming advice (we have a small school garden). You are able to stay for as long or as short as you like, but the longer you stay the stronger the relationships will grow!
We look forward to welcoming you to our home and school!

We are close to the iconic Maasai Mara so many volunteers and visitors go on safari to see the wildlife and learn about the Maasai Mara with experienced tour guides.
Surrounded by roaming giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, antelope, amazing bird life and gorgeous sunsets, you will have a real African experience here, in a very rural, quiet, and beautiful home. The teachers and staff are very welcoming and would love to show you the local area.
By coming to the Academy, you will have the opportunity to work with young children, meet the traditional Maasai people, and experience the way of life in Kenya. While at the school you will be encouraged to visit nearby homes and communicate with the local families while having fresh milk and African Chai tea in their traditional manyata homes.
On Saturdays you can visit the local market at Ewaso Ngiro where you meet the local people, stock up with fresh fruit and veggies, see the enormous cattle market where hundred of cattle, sheep and other livestock are sold every week, as well as get any other essentials you need!Proyectos con niños

WHAT DO WE NEED HELP WITH?
1. We currently need help raising funds to construct 2 classrooms for kindergarten block that will help host our youngest kids, who are currently studying in a partitioned section of the Dining Hall.
2, We need help keeping our social media channels up to date, to keep in touch with our supporters around the globe. You don’t have to be a computer expert to help with this.
3, We would like support in promoting and marketing our newly constructed guest house, which could be an important source of income for the school. We charge for gas!
4. We need help raising funds for some beds for our newly constructed dormitories which helps in securing our girls from FGM AND EARLY MARRIAGES
We also welcome new fundraising ideas, where you can create your own video or GoFundMe campaign, as well as volunteer teachers.
What can you help us raise funds for?
-Kindergarten block.
-Paint upgrade for our school.
-Beds for our dormitories
-books and various school supplies.
-School Lunch program.

Here at the Academy, you will be staying in a guest house with four double rooms, two showers, two toilets, a kitchen, and outside veranda. You will be located only a few steps away from the Academy. The school property and your lodgings are completely surrounded by chain-linked fence and have security guards on site and so it is very safe
You will be provided with a bed, wardrobe, fan, and electricity. The guesthouse has a hob, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle and hot water shower. You are required to keep the house clean always. You can purchase 4G for your phone or buy a modem at Safaricom in Narok, on the way from Nairobi. The internet is super fast!
There are supermarkets in Narok, half an hours drive away by public transport, for your western comforts. You will find all the essentials a walk away in Ewaso Ngiro, which has many local shops and a bustling Saturday market. The area is very safe and you’ll definitely make lots of new friends.Algo más...
On your time off you are able to explore the local sights, climb large hills to get some views of the local area (and possibly see giraffes, zebras, etc.), talk with locals, or plan a safari in the Maasai Mara!
I run my own safari business, profits from this go directly to the foundation that supports the school. Please contact me for further information about going on safari in the Maasai Mara before, during or after you stay here.
The locals are avid soccer players! You will probably be able to join in on some small soccer matches!
Other than that, this place is a very quiet place, so many people like to take their time here to read, write, or work away from home if you are a digital nomad! Our volunteer hours are flexible, so if you are a digital nomad, that is no problem.
In regards to available transport - there is a brother of mine that owns his own motorcycle, and so you can get a ride with him to Ewaso Ngiro if you dint fancy walking. From there you are able to get a ride to the larger town of Narok. From Narok you are able to get a matatu to the larger destinations such as Nairobi, Kisumu, or Mombasa. You can also travel comfortably by bus from Narok to other major cities/towns.Un poco más de información
