 - Descripción- We (Scott and Tara) live in a log home with outbuildings on Teslin Lake, Yukon Territory, Canada. Our house is quirky; and our property is quiet, beautiful and serene. We have a husky/lab mix dog who is a member of the family. We like to cook with organic food, and we are trying to establish a workable gardening solution here in the Yukon, in our forest setting. Growing in the Yukon is very unlike growing anywhere south of 60.
We are borderline hippies. lol. Truthfully, though, we get excited by awesome finds at the free store, try to squelch our consumer urges, and recycle anything we possibly can. We are trying really hard not to use any type of chemicals in our gardens; which can be tricky when you don't have very good soil. Still--we try.
Scott is a genius in the kitchen, and Tara teaches art at the community recreation centre.
The reason we need some extra help is because Tara recently had a double lung transplant, and is still building up her strength and stamina. Right now, she's not able to do as much as she'd like to. The onus of all the heavy work falls on Scott.
We are 10km from the Village of Teslin, which has a population of 420 people. The Village is on the territorial lands of the Tlingit First Nation. The Village offers a recreation centre, hotel/lounge, small grocery store, a large heritage centre, a smaller museum and lots and lots of outdoor space for fishing, quadding, hiking, cycling, jogging etc. The people here are friendly and welcoming. You'd be most welcome to join us in any activities we take part in. (Slopitch baseball, visiting friends, etc.)

Most of the people on Teslin Lake are laid back and like to enjoy nature. We spend a lot of time watching the birds around our house--everything from song birds to birds of prey.
We are 180km up the Alaska Highway from Whitehorse, which is the capital city of the Yukon. This would probably be your next stop either for visiting, or for another workaway opportunity.

Maria is amazing: smart, funny, practical, independent, interesting, kind and a REALLY hard worker.
Our dog Magick adores Maria too!
I had an unfortunate medical situation that left us living away from home for 1/3 of Maria's stay. Maria handled it like a trouper.

We had our own room in a building near the house and could freely cook and spend some time in the house. We worked most of the time outside and the last day we cleaned the main room.

They are hard working, intelligent, fun, cheerful, easy going and great company. We enjoyed many laughs with this charming couple, and we learned a lot about France.

Julia was with us for three days; and in that time she accomplished two HUGE projects.
Julia came when our life is in upheaval, and she took it all in stride.
