  We are a family living off the grid in Montserrat, Valencia, building a sustainable Mediterranean homestead from the ground up.
  
  We believe in slow living, regenerative agriculture, and appropriate technology — and we are looking for people who want to experience this lifestyle from the inside, not just as visitors but as genuine participants in our daily life.
  
  Our project is a work in progress in the best possible sense: there is always something being built, grown, composted, pruned, or reimagined. Tomas has spent a lifetime exploring permaculture, self-sufficiency, and natural building, and loves sharing that knowledge with whoever is curious enough to ask. Ale keeps the heart of the home beating — with incredible food, warmth, and a welcoming spirit that makes everyone feel at home from day one.
  
  We have three kids who are very much part of the experience, along with dogs, chickens, worms, and whatever other creatures have decided to join us.
  
  We are not a polished eco-resort. We are a real family, on a real farm, doing real work — and we think that is exactly what makes it special.
  
  We hope to find people who are ready to roll up their sleeves, ask questions, and leave having learned something they did not expect.

  Living with us is a genuine cultural exchange in every sense. Tomas speaks fluent English and Spanish and loves sharing his knowledge of permaculture, natural building, and agroecology — not as lectures, but through doing things together. If you are curious, he will never run out of things to teach.
  Ale brings a warm Mexican culture into our home — from her approach to family and children (she is a psychopedagogue) to her incredible cooking. Sharing a meal with her is an experience in itself.
  We welcome people from any background and are genuinely curious about other cultures, languages, and ways of life. If you have skills or knowledge to share, we want to learn from you too.
  Beyond the farm, we will introduce you to our local community — neighbouring farmers, regenerative growers, wine makers, and rice harvesters — giving you a real taste of rural Mediterranean life.
  And if you want to improve your Spanish, there is no better place — you will be fully immersed from day one.

  We are looking for a warm, caring person to join our family and support us with the care of our youngest child and light household tasks, as a natural part of sharing our daily life together.
  What this involves:
  
  - Being a caring and patient presence for our little one throughout the day
  - Supporting our children's curiosity and connection with nature
  - Sharing meals and slow living moments with the family
  - Helping with household routines and simple food preparation using homegrown ingredients
  - Participating in farm and agroecology activities alongside us
  - Joining us on occasional visits to nearby regenerative projects and local experiences
  
  We are looking for someone warm, adaptable, and genuinely comfortable around young children. Experience with kids is a plus. Language is not a barrier — we welcome any nationality.
  
  The exchange:
  
  30 hours/week
  - Private studio with bathroom, kitchen, living room with fireplace, and office space
  - Meals included
  - €200/month pocket money
  - Spanish language support if desired
  
  This is a family life experience rooted in sustainable living - not a conventional au pair placement.

Living and working together is the best way to learn — you will be naturally immersed from day one. In return, we love learning words, expressions and stories from wherever our guests come from

  You will have your own spacious private studio with a bedroom, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, living room with fireplace, and office space with internet access. Our solar energy system provides electricity and all the home comforts you would expect.
  Meals are included — expect homegrown vegetables, fresh eggs, and more than a few delicious Mexican recipes from Ale.

  Getting around
  A car is recommended to get the most out of the area — we are in a rural setting and public transport is limited. That said, the nearby town of Montserrat has basic amenities, and Valencia city is just 30-40 minutes away for those who want a taste of urban life.
  In your free time
  The surrounding landscape is stunning and ideal for hiking, cycling, and exploring. The region is rich in culture — from local wine routes and rice fields in La Albufera to the vibrant city of Valencia with its markets, beaches, and architecture.
  Our lifestyle and house rules
  We are a family with young children, so we value a calm and respectful atmosphere at home. We live off the grid and ask everyone to be mindful of energy and water consumption. We grow much of our own food and try to live as sustainably as possible — we hope you will embrace that spirit too.
  We are flexible and easy-going, but good communication is important to us. If something is not working, we would always rather talk about it openly. 💛

  Yes! We have good internet connection and a dedicated office space in the private studio — perfect for remote workers. You are welcome to combine your work with your time on the homestead. 🌿💻
