In the center of Guanajuato, I purchased a home. This is part of the project to improve the community and house.
I believe in the power of community and helping the community where you live.
You would help with painting, taking care of the plants, cleaning, sweeping. General items around the house.
I give space for creativity and risk taking. Volunteers have planted seeds for the garden, painted murals, painted wine bottles, and made food bowls for a pet organization I am part of.

Improving their Spanish, getting to know the community, Each Saturday, we have a general community clean up day. There is also a great river where you can go jogging.

It would be general help. Some time to the plants and garden. Some time cleaning the house, some time painting. Walk dogs. We are planting a community garden, painting over tagging in the neighborhood, installing solar panel lights, and planning on murals.

I spent almost a week at the "Home sweet Home" and the tasks were pretty easy like welcoming the guests, preparing the rooms, cleaning and watering the plants! When I arrived Sergio wasn't in town but he found the way to welcome me anyway! Overall my stay with Sergio was good!

He was good at communicating both in advance and while we were there, and provided ideas of projects that we could then decide on. Alongside the day to day running of the hostel we also did some projects cleaning up the community which meant we got to meet locals as well.

Sergio made me and everyone feel really welcome in his home :) During my stay I ended up getting sick quite a few times and Sergio was super accommodating to letting me take extra time off to rest so I could recover from the illness.

The workaway at Sergios was great! He is a super host, welcomes you directly into his house and is doing so much for the community. Frances volunteered for only a week but she helped in a variety ways. She helped our neighbor with a future community garden. She helped paint the house with a brighter color. Sergio's place is next level. We felt right at home right away. We learned so much in so little time. He's trying to build a self sustainable place and we are sure it'll be amazing. Work was straight forward, and not demanding, we could learn many skills as well. I would recommend anyone to stay and we'll do it again in the future for sure.
