My name is Paul and I have 20 years of experience in organic permaculture. I aim to bring together communities and farming groups in the western part of Kenya through permaculture knowledge and technology. Our organization is registered with the Government of Kenya, and we work with organic permaculture farming groups in the 10 counties of Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira. Our headquarters is in Homabay County, Kenya. We welcome volunteers to join our farming groups for knowledge-sharing and community interaction.
Each village we work with is 10 sq km with a population of 1800 people. It has one public school, three private schools, and 15 churches. The primary occupations are sustenance farming, carpentry, blacksmithing, tailoring, and small businesses. Our vision is to educate and empower the rural community to escape extreme poverty..
"We envision a community where people can support themselves and their families in farming through sharing information and new farming technology on Permaculture and Organic farming to facilitate decentralized education."
We are committed to sustaining independent and prosperous farmers through reconnecting with Earth Care and People Care. Our focus is on gardening, knowledge, and experiences that lead to a holistic sustainable life. Our commitments include treating all people with respect, taking personal and group responsibility, demonstrating openness and integrity in communications, and using a participatory decision-making process.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
Volunteers will get the chance to immerse themselves in the vibrant village life, forge new friendships, gain deeper insights into our community's culture, and visit captivating local attractions and game parks. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive certificates of excellence and will also have the opportunity to delve into the realm of organic living within our community, thus making a meaningful impact on the environment. Embracing a "Think Global, Act Local" approach, volunteers will engage in guided public tours, benefit from special pricing for a wide array of courses offered at our permaculture project, partake in various events hosted by us, and actively participate in a myriad of other community-centered activities.
Ayuda
We are looking for knowledgeable and skilled volunteers to help upgrade our programs and spread awareness about our permaculture farm project. We need assistance with organic and sustainable agriculture, teaching, sports education, administration, networking, community charity work, spiritual programs, and website design.

Our volunteers will have the opportunity to experience authentic cultural immersion by staying with a local host family through our home-based care accommodation program. As part of this cultural exchange, volunteers will contribute a small amount (5 USD) towards the cost of meals each day to help cover food expenses. In return, the host family will provide essential amenities such as a private sleeping area with bedding, clean water, and solar electricity.
During their stay, volunteers will actively participate in the daily life of the host family, joining in activities, meals, and conversations. This will allow them to not only share their experiences but also learn about the local way of life. We encourage volunteers to bring their own personal necessities, like toiletries and any special dietary items, to facilitate a comfortable and mutually beneficial stay.
Additionally, we recommend that volunteers come prepared with sturdy shoes, gloves, and appropriate work attire to engage in any project-related activities. This will ensure a safe and productive experience for both the volunteer and their host family.Algo más...
During the volunteer program, participants are encouraged to stay for a period of one to two weeks, although the exact duration depends on the individual's planned schedule with the host family. Volunteers will have the opportunity to engage in various activities such as reading novels, interacting with the local community children, sharing stories with the villagers, exploring the village, and learning the local language. Additionally, volunteers can organize field trips to attractions such as the game park, Kit Makai, and take a Lake Victoria boat tour to places like Obolo Bolo for hippo sightings, Sikri for monkey encounters, and Soklo for exploring the Holy cave. Sporting activities like football, netball, volleyball, and running events can also be organized with the community. The host family provides bicycles for volunteers to explore the village, while motorbikes are available as the affordable means of transportation in the area.
For those traveling to the project, the directions are as follows:
Upon arrival at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, travelers should take a flight to Kisumu International Airport. Upon landing in Kisumu, the host will pick them up and escort them to the project site. From Kisumu, travelers can utilize public transportation, with the fare being 300 Ksh to Homa Bay, followed by 100 Ksh to Rodi, and finally another 100 Ksh to reach the project siteUn poco más de información
