    Dear workaways and families,
we live in Würzburg, in a quiet neighbourhood, but very close to the city center. Würzburg is a beautiful city in bavaria (Unterfranken), and due to its big universitiy it is full of young people and cultural programs.

We are looking for one ore more workaways or for a family to take care of our house, garden, 8 chickens and 2 ducks. The chickens and ducks are very funny animals and you will easily learn how to take care. They only need food and water daily and cleaning their houses once a week.

You live on your own in our newly renovated house, as we will be on holidays during your stay. Our adult daughter (Christine) and her husband (Daniel) live in the same street. They have three small kids (1, 4, 8) and would be happy to get to know you and they can help with any questions. They are around 30 years old and Daniel ist half America. So, English is well spoken.

Würzburg is, after Nuremberg and Fürth, the third-largest city in Franconia located in the north of Bavaria. It spans the banks of the Main river. The population is approximately 130,000 residents. It is famous for its partly rebuilt and reconstructed old town and its Würzburger Residenz, a palace that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The University of Würzburg was founded in 1402 and is one of the oldest universities in Germany. It currently enrolls approximately 30,000 students, out of which more than 1,000 come from other countries. So, it is easy to get in contact with young people and there is a vivid cultural scene in the city.

Würzburg is a famous wine region. Wine festivals take place in Würzburg and its surrounding. The region is also good for walks.

Our house is located in Höchberg, Hexenbruch, which is a quiet suburb of Würzburg. Public transport or a bike will take you to the city center in 10- 15 minutes.

Our daughter and her family are quite active concerning social life. So, you will easily get to know people when you spend time with them.

The keeping of chickens in the city is a bit unusal. So, people often stop at our house when they pass by. If you are up for small talk you just need to wait and see.

    - Garden: Watering the plants in the garden, mowing the lawn, harvesting tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, etc,
    - Chickens and ducks: Feeding and providing water (daily), cleaning their houses (once in a week) and changing the water in the duck´s pond (twice a week). Chickens and ducks are easy to look after. There are no special skills or experiences needed.

xxx The eggs from the chickens and the vegetable from the garden are for your own consumption.

xxx Our daughter lives in the same street and she can also take over singular days for feeding the pets and watering the garden. In case you are not always around.

You will live in our house on your own (or with another workaway). It consists of: Living kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, bathroom, guest toilet, conservatory, garden and big terrace.

There are vegetables in the garden and eggs from the chickens. But apart from this, you would need to take care of your own food.

    Algo más...

There is a supermarket and a swimming pool very cloxe (five minutes walk). The bakery is also open on Sundays. You can go for a walk or for running in the neayby forest.

The bus stop is very close to the house (30m). But you can also take a bike into the city. In Würzburg there are another three outdoor swimming pools, cafes, bars, etc.

We would expect that you will clean the house regularly, so that you return it in the same condition.

Taking care of the chickens and ducks is not time consuming, but you need to be very responsible and reliable. Most important is the drinking water (especially during hot summer). So we expect that you check the water at least once a day, better twice. If this is not possible, you would need to coordinate the dates with our daughter in advance. But generally, there not too much work waiting for you ;-)

We would like to chat with you on a video-call to know each other in advance.

8 female chickens of different breeds: Mini (Javanese), Haubi and Creamlinde (Cream Legbar), Lady (Goldsperber), Spatz (Marans), Wildy and Snow (GaHmong), Flower (Fiftyfive Flowery) (6 meses)

The chickens are of different breeds with different character and look. And, they lay eggs in different colours.

The two ducks are Hochbrutflugenten, similar to wild ducks. They are not very clever.
