The wildlife sanctuary is a registered charity and not-for profit organisation run by Laura and Ron, in a town called Moorine Rock in the Eastern Wheatbelt of Western Australia. We rescue care for and rehabilitate all native fauna including Kangaroos, Emu's, birds and some reptiles. We have a 2200 acre Wildlife sanctuary and nursery enclosures at our property. Volunteer tasks can range from caring for orphaned kangaroo joeys, feeding aviary birds to cleaning aviaries and fencing enclosures under supervision. We provide accommodation and food in exchange for 5 hours of help, 5 days a week.
Ron is a farmer (though no longer farming) and now drives the school bus for the local primary school and runs our bed and breakfast accommodation. Laura is a Nurse Practitioner and both run the sanctuary and care for the animals on a daily basis. Moorine Rock is a small farming community and for volunteers who do not have their own transport, the Prospector train (Trans WA) goes from Perth to Kalgoorlie and Kalgoorlie to Perth daily or twice daily, stopping at Moorine Rock stationTipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
Immersion in Country Australia, farming community, Aboriginal heritage. Experience Australian native wildlife up close and personal.
On days off, volunteers could catch the Prospector train to Kalgoorlie to explore the rich Goldfields history, visit Southern Cross which is the nearest town 30km away, play tennis at the local tennis club, watch a local Australian rules football match, go swimming or explore some of the many Granite Rock formationsAyuda
We are keen to have 2 friends or couples to volunteer. You need to be relatively fit and willing to help and get your hands dirty. Old clothes and sturdy boots are necessary. We provide sunscreen, fly nets, gloves etc. Feeding animals and cleaning out enclosures is ongoing and Ron usually has fencing projects. Help with fencing usually involves wire tying, measuring and helping with post positioning. We will be with volunteers at all times and never expect you to do any tasks that we wouldn't do ourselves
