Our nature paradise & charity home office is and small backpacker type / farmhouse near Lawrencetown Beach on a lake & farmland. As a base for our international children's aid society the farmhouse is used as a stay over for adventures which we use to create an income for our aid projects overseas.
My name is Sunyata, an international children's aid & animal rescue worker. Volunteers help with my old family farm house & yard, painting, garden & organizing tasks, help with rescue pets, sort donations for international children's aid & sometimes jewellery fixing and displays. I am happy to show the area and introduce to new friends.

This is a best location to be close to surf, sea and sky. You will love nature. You can learn English, meet new friends and learn about this areas of rural surf community of Eastern Canada. NOVA SCOTIA. We have had travelers and volunteers from all over the world come here. I have also hosted many international volunteers while working in South Africa, Dominican & Sri Lanka.

While enjoying our farm house & community, I'm looking for someone to help 4-5 days a week for about 4-5 hours a day. ( buts some days are shorter depending on tasks)
Job:
Main tasks are helping with pets, sort donations for childrens aid, some times keeping home tidy when needed, create 1st aid kits & workshop materials while also organizing extra storage space, light gardening several days a week , small painting projects, helping with tasks that create an income to help our childrens & animal rescue charity, mow at least once a week, cuddling and sometimes feeding the cats Gismo, October & walking the a small cuddly Dominican rescue dog Peppers. Help cleaning up after pets each day.
All tasks are very flexible & can be spread out to leave room for lots of surfing, hiking, biking and bonfires with other guests.
Help organizing or designing the volunteer bedroom and living and hang out spaces. Keep your section and bathrooms clean and clear each day.
You can help with trails in the forest (if you like) & gathering brush for bonfires but nothing intense. I will help start you off on most tasks but they are mostly independent as I work 4-5 jobs; I manage the bnb, teach , relocate newcomers & charity managment.
House sitting on days I'm away or at work is often needed to make sure cats dog and occasional rescue animal are cared for and house stays clean.
We could also use someone who likes to be creatively handy. This would entail fixing old doors, some painting, yard work, forest trail making, mowing and gardening. If you love the outdoors, nature and can make something out of nothing being creative this could be a forfilling odd jobs gig for you.
We try to make each workaway placement fit the skills of the volunteer. There will be days you need to work on your own with set tasks which is important and other days as a team.

Farmhouse in rural beach & forest area. Volunteer will have 1 private room in the travelers section of my home(with small kitchenette), 2 shared bathrooms. I live in the sepreate front private section. A few times a week we can share main meals in the main farmhouse kitchen. This is not an allboard workaway as we don't provide main meals but there will be some basic vegetarian items and condiments you can use in your kitchenette room. You are welcome to join guests surfing or biking or come with me on trips to town for shopping once a week for you to buy your main food, extras and drinks.
This is a safe drug free space. Please don't bring home other people to the house unless discussed and I meet them . There are sometimes rooms people can rent if there is an over night visitor.
Note;
Eating out, drinks alcohol is also the volunteers responsibility so please bring on arrival. Please replace any alcohol before you leave if you share with anyone in the house.
You also have your own entrance apart from main house so you will have privacy from main house. When main house is used for communal meals, team meetings and house sitting, pet sitting ; workaways help with home clean up and not leave dirty dishes please.

Most of our volunteers are young adventures on a gap year. During time off you might enjoy surfing in one of the best surf spots in Eastern Canada, Lawrencetown Beach. Also the house is surrounded by lakes and trails. The TransCanada trail is 5 min walk away and beach 7 min walk. There is a cafe & small shops 20 min walk away.
There are no bus so you can join when I go to town shopping once a week so you can buy what you need but I will provide you with some basic vegetarian items for your kitchenette ( but this is not an all meal full stay).
Other times I can drive you to the bus in town when I'm working but you will be responsible to take a taxi or uber back to the house on your days off.
There is no liquor store near us so please plan ahead to bring any wine or beer as we do not provide this, only some basic food to add to what you bring.
You can use the bike to get around the area. There are surf rentals down the street.
Arriving
If the timing works between my various jobs I will pick you up in town and drop you back at an agreed spot so you can travel onward.Or you can get dropped off or take an ubar to our location near Lawrencetown Beach. There is also taxi and uner if timing can't work but we always try.

Of you have a camper van you can park in our garden across the street and use the guest bathrooms. You are also welcome to camp in our massive yard if you like.
