We are a registered organization in Kenya with a mission to empower and transform people with epilepsy, mental health issues and their caregivers to be reliant and independent and know their rights as people living with disability. We operate in the informal settlements of Githurai Mwihoko.
This is the following work that we are doing in the community:
1. Epilepsy awareness:
We go to schools, churches and make TV and radio interviews to create awareness and teach people about epilepsy and first aid. We have reached more than 5000 people so far.
2. Counselling:
We also visit our members in their homes to support, encourage, share with them and provide spiritual nourishment.
3. Mentorship:
We do mentor kids from our local school and also we have partned with their special class kids that have mental health issues such as epilepsy, autism, ADHD and cerebral palsy.
4. Empowerment:
We have also started an empowerment session to help people with epilepsy and their care givers.
5. Medicines:
We have helped more than 200 members every month with anti epilepsy medicines because in Kenya meds are not given free by our government.
In addition to that, we operate the following school programs meant to teach valuable skills for the working world to our members, either by opening their own business or be employed in the future:
1. Tailoring school:
We have trained more than a 100 womens living with epilepsy dressmaking, clothes cutting and fashion and design.
2. Cosmetology school:
We teach cosmetology, hairdressing, manicure, pedicure, and how to make facial care.
3. Computer skills school:
We teach basic computer programs and graphic design.
4. Boresha Biashara:
This is an entrepreunarial skills class. We teach the members how to manage their future businesses, handle finances, retain clients, marketing skills to give them all tools necessary if they want to open a business.
5. Baking school:
We teach bread-making, pastry-making and cake-making.

They will meet local volunteers and in turn they will know the local language and know local way of living and it will assist them in their future plans.
If in future they want to visit again it becomes easier.
They will learn about how our community is, the challenges we face and then they should learn a lot of things and it will change their perspectives on life. Seeing how epilepsy people live and other conditions day in day out.
We operate in Mwihoko Githurai and most of the people here are living in poverty ,illiteracy and unemployment so it becomes very difficult for people who have epilepsy and mental health to get help.
We are requesting volunteers who have skills in website making, business administration, psychology knowledge or mental health experts, any health professional, photographer, a good proposal writer or someone who has experience with associations.

We shall provide our volunteers with food 3 meals a day and in line with that the volunteer will learn how to make local dishes.
They might go for football match they might think of taking walks and enjoy nature. We are located 30km away from Nairobi's city, but it's accessible by public transport or uber. There is many attractions to see in the city.
