We are small family sheep farm on a steep hill in Central Vermont. We have pasture raised Icelandic Sheep as well as ducks, chickens, dogs, cats and a busy household with 6 housemates, and sometimes my grandchildren!
Most of the care of our house and animals is done by me - Jill - so I am often in need of extra hands.
We have one room available in our house for volunteers that has use of 2 shared bathrooms. The room has two queensized beds (a queensized bunkbed), so it can hold up to 4 people, but normally holds 2. So, our Workawayers share the room with one other volunteer.
We generally eat breakfast and dinner together, and we will provide you with food to make the rest of your meals.
We cannot, unfortunately, accommodate dogs since we already have 2 dogs and our house cats don’t tolerate dogs very well. :)
No smoking, vaping or drug use is allowed in our house, and no smoking is allowed anywhere near the house due to fire danger. Drinking must be on your own time. We may have an occasional glass of wine with dinner, however.
We raise our own meat (and much of our own milk, eggs, and veggies), so we are not a vegetarian household. However, we can easily accommodate you if you are.
Central Vermont is very beautiful, but mostly rural. The only public transportation is a commuter bus service which stops about 2 miles from our house. It will not take you into Richmond village - you will need to walk, bike or drive for that - but it will take you to Burlington or Montpelier (Vermont's capital) on weekdays. It does not run on weekends. There is usually someone going to and from our house with whom you can get a ride, however.
There is a large array of tasks around the house and farm that we could use some help with and guests are free to choose which of those tasks they would like to help with or learn how to do.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

We have been hosting Workawayers since 2016, and we also have 5 renters - we love sharing our life with visitors! You will learn all about living on a sustainable, humane, community oriented sheep farm and get to visit beautiful Vermont!

The help would be for about 4 hours a day.
Would welcome extra hands to help with a few tasks around our house and farm. Tasks vary with the season, but may include stacking wood, fixing fences, cooking, cleaning, or other help around the house and property.Idiomas hablados

We are in the mountains of central Vermont, but only a short (15 minute) drive to Burlington - Vermont's largest city - where there are lots of fun tourist attractions right on Lake Champlain. We are very close to the Long Trail, and some great hiking and biking in summer, and skiing in winter.
