Update 2/9: Now accepting travelers for late March and April. *We can host two people and coming with a companion may make your stay more enjoyable. *Having a car is good too if you can rent one during your stay.

    Hey travelers!
We've had such an amazing time hosting you all! Since 2016, we've hosted nearly 30 people from 12 countries. We've spent the last few years living near Washington, DC, but big life changes have brought us to a beautiful, secluded 40 acres on a lake in Florida. We miss our friends in DC but we are excited to host again in Florida...camp style!

A bit about us: We've spent the last 20 years living in every corner of the US - Florida, California, US Virgin Islands, Oregon, Georgia, and Virginia - and traveled to nearly all 50 states. I am a teacher of myriad things, inventive and resourceful, and was a swim and triathlon coach in DC. I am currently going back to school to become a Registered Dietitian. My husband is recently retired from 20 years with the US Coast Guard, and races and coaches triathlon. My son is 16, adventurous, and loves mountain biking and all things BIKE. My youngest is 13 and is our artist, game player, and reader. She even runs her own Etsy Shop called SpottedTherian! As a family, we are open and welcoming for all humans. We are non-smokers, non-religious, and eat a varied, whole-foods, omnivorous diet.

In January of 2023, we left DC and spent three months camping on our lake and six months on the road. From April to October, we drove 22,108 miles from Key West Florida to Fairbanks Alaska and back again. We hit 31 states and provinces and 13 national parks.

This past year, we built our dream home and we are ready to host workaway again! For you we have a large canvas tent with a GREAT view! You also have an outdoor shower and composting toilet, but access to the house shower/restroom as well. Your tent site also includes a small deck and outdoor kitchen area.

If you join us, projects primarily include organic/natural land management techniques. We are interested in planting a wild flower garden and reintroducing native fruit-bearing trees and locally adapted cultivars. Other tasks and projects might include: native plant identification and wild edibles, building projects, trail construction, permaculture and native ecosystem restoration, invasive plant management, on site milling, forestry management, and who knows what else!

We welcome workawayers as family. We love sharing cooking, meals, games, music, adventures, and fun. We hope you'll join us!

    Algo más...

Our property here is very rural, but we are often in town, at the beach, or off finding adventure somewhere. Public transit is extremely limited. Having your own car while you are here would be beneficial, but it depends on what kind of experience you are looking for (for example - homestay/camping vs sightseeing).
