We're a family of five (soon six), the kids are from two to six years old. When they're not in kindergarten, parts of the house are quite noisy, and mealtimes can be loud! But the rooms of our guests are a bit away from the family rooms, so you can enjoy your peace and quietness nevertheless.
We're Christians, but happy to welcome people of all or no faith.
We are travellers ourselves, I've been around Australia, Nigeria, Peru and some other countries, together we've discovered the Middle East. And even though our trips don't take us halfway around the globe at the moment, we still like to be on the road (i.e. the rails) once in a while. So when you stay with us, feel free to ask for help when it comes to planning your voyage and where to go next. We might be able to give you some advice and even hook you up with other people in Germany (or the world).
We're living on 1.4 acres of land on the outskirts of a village about one hour from Berlin and two hours from Hamburg. There are five cats, five chicken, two ducks, two pigs and one rooster living with us. We're working from home and trying as much as possible to live off of what the garden and nature provides. We just started two years ago, there is still a lot of room for improvement, but we're on the right track.
At one end of our property, there is a small lake where you can go fishing. There are small forests and many other villages nearby. Our village has a train station, so it's fairly easy to get to the bigger cities from our place.

We need help around the house, the garden and with the kids (if you're happy to babysit). So it can be anything from cleaning and cooking to weeding and watering. We'll talk about it, before you get here :)

You'll have your own room and most of the time your own bathroom. When we have other guests or friends over, you'd have to share the bathroom.

What our normal day looks like:
On normal days, we get up at 7, one takes the kids to kindergarten, the other prepares a simple breakfast of tea, coffee and porridge. Then we sit, eat, pray and plan the day. Either before or after we feed the animals. Between breakfast and lunch (around 12), there is always work in the garden according to the season, or in the kitchen (after harvest to preserve the food). Since we have solar panels on our roof, we try to use as much of the daylight as possible to do the cooking and preserving with solar energy.
Depending on the work in the garden we continue working in the afternoon or just enjoy time together with the kids and whoever will happily join us :)
In summer, we love to spend time outside as long as possible, light a campfire in the evening or start a barbecue.

    What we like to do:
We love to cook (and eat), bake, play board games, hang out with other people and I'm still trying to learn the Ukulele and practice Yoga as much as I can (unfortunatelly not daily).
This part of Germany is quite rural, so you can go hiking, biking (no mountains, so it's an easy ride), fishing, visit Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden and other cities in a daytrip and generally you can just chill in the garden, lie in a hammock, play with the pigs and the cats or craft something big or small in our little workshop or the huge carport, that allows to build bigger things under a roof.
